I am a bit disappointed with the use of Direwolves this season, the first scene with Robb and Jaime was great. Grey Wind looked so huge and imposing. I understand they have to use effects now so having them interact with the cast has become a lot more complicated. I especially missed Ghost, I kinda hoped he would help defeat Quorin like the book, but no dice.

I'd just like to confess that I also loved that scen and cried some man tears when Stannis asked "where is your god now." Think it was absolutely in character for him and I'll defend that statement till I die.
Prepare for war your grace. The COTF are not mocked ! I think Ours is the Fury summed it up well
with that emotional scene's departure from his " cold fish " persona. Also I did not agree with the
violent nature of it. I do offer props for the manipulative manner that won him over to fire gaze
and mind **** ( f**k ) that way. Actually I'm a bit disgusted with both parts but the viewers needed
to see Stannis sucked into the illusion. I'm just not sure it was the best way to present his being a
beleiver. It reminds me of the lengths GoT took to show Joffrey as cruel as a sadomasochist.
Stannis is badass in his own way, he's just a bit stoic and indifferent, not a lovable guy.
WildSeed I discussed at great lenght on that thread why I thought it was in character for him and why it fit so perfectly. When one finds the belief you baed your life on to be proven false one many times does things against your character.

I confess that I found that scene pretty hot until he started grunting. Then I just found it funny. Poor Stannis, he must not have had a good one in a while.

I'm not sure if I recall that thread, was it here or at WiC ? This is the first time I'm addressing the the Direwolves
in the show or book. As I read through the books I accepted their absence because it was that or be at odds with
No no not the direwolves, Stannis and Mel choking scene. It was the season analysis of GoT by Ours is the Fury. I'm pretty sure you were involved in that discussion as well.

Ok my GoT confession is .... I really bonded with Cat, She is nearest to me in every way. One reason in perticular but I won't share that one. Her Teenage boy questioning all the time and not needing her any more, her teenage daughter thinking she's a woman grown. All the decisions she made. Her grief. I could go on. Enough to say when I read Cat hate I get really upset! Ha ! Me a woman grown!! Oh yeah and I hate it when they call her CATlyn.. Done.
I like Michele as Cat better than book Cat. Book Cat was even more mean to Jon Snow, which I didn't like. I also understand freeing the Kingslayer to get her children back. A mom's got to do what a mom's got to do.

Yes, this. I read that they were having a hard time with the dogs in Season 1 and that they didn't want the direwolves to be too much in the forefront of Season 2. I'm hoping we'll see more in S3.

I've said it before but strangely no one got mad at me so I confess it again: there is no strong female characters in this story IMO (well, perhaps Ygritte and Asha). I´m not afraid of youpeople bring those tomatoes!
Also I hate the Greyjoys men. Con ganas.
And I´m too much in love with Stannis. Yes, Stannis is fun (made me think that something is wrong with me and the kind of man I like but it´s true). Also, Stephen Dillane is the sexiest man alive. Yes, the sexiest.

I have to clarify this because I kept thinking about it after I wrote that sentence. I´m sorry, I know that statement sounds like a provocation but is not. It is what I think now, maybe I´ll change my mind in time. I really don´t enjoy debates so I would never say that kind of things intentionally. Yes, I don’t trust debates, I think most people aren´t flexible enough at debates. On the contrary, maybe people get more intense and that never drives you to any good place. In my experience, people don´t like to have doubts, perhaps thinks that is a weakness but I´m all for doubts (which leads meto fear debates). This is one of the reasons (and I´m trying to be completely honest here) for I don´t think of myself as a fan, I always have doubts and questions. I don´t think GRRM is a genius and the show is the best thing on tv (not even close). I like it, sometimes very much but that´s all. To me the show has many many flaws but, and this is very important to me, the actors are great and the story is fun. So, I enjoy it, I´m not over the moon and that sort of thing (maybe because I´m a newbie at fantasy genre, I don´t know, don´t like to sound like a stupid ass).
Right now I don´t have the time nor the memory to make my arguments. I said it here because the thread is called Confessions so I believe nobody would bite my yugular (or start a debate ) because you don´t do that to people in a confession…. Right? but you canthrowall the tomatoesyouhave, I'll understand (and collect them because I love tomatoes).
So Aegon, I do have a point with that sentence but be patient with me, please.

GoT confession: I never cared for the direwolves or the dragons that much. And this is coming from a huge dog lover and owner. I'm very curious to see what are the implications of Ghost being an albino (because I definitely think there's something there) and seeing what becomes of
Spoiler
Nymeria and her pack (her ferociousness has to lead up to something), but frankly I thought GRRM's decision of giving not one, but three of the Stark children (that we know of, I'm not sure about Rickon) warg abilities was a bit too much. I can definitely see warging as being extremely important to Bran's storyline, possibly even for Jon (as of ADwD), but I confess I cringe a bit at the thought of a Stark warging a dragon.
Ugh, too much badassery for my taste.
Oh, Macha! I don't feel so alone anymore! You've just put words to my thoughts. Come over for tea!

Heh, actually I'm not one for internet debates either. Theoretically, I like them, I have some pretty strong opinions and I'm terribly stubborn, and I welcome any discussion based on real arguments. But with television (arts & entertainment in general) I feel that they just don't lead anywhere most of the times. So I would gladly make my position, and defend it for a while, but I've just never felt the desire to 'convert' anyone. For example, I relate to andrea on many, many levels, and I actually remember one of our first 'exchanges' over at WiC.net was over Brienne as a strong female character. At the end, we agreed to disagree and that's that. And yeah, this being just a confession thread, we're allowed to just throw things in here without worrying about the consequences or having to present a list of arguments. I would like to engage in a more lenghty discussion over this with andrea or anyone else who feels this way, but that's simply because I'm genuinly curious as to why she sees things this way. Aaand because I've never quite understood what a "strong woman' should be like. SSome other thread, though, because we might bore people to death otherwise.
andrea: haha, no need for translation, my Spanish isn't that rusty.
Tir Airgid - aaaaaaaaaaw Glad to hear I'm not alone too! R'hllor, I like this thread.

It still boggles me when I think that the casting for Stannis Baratheon probably said something like "older man with sex appeal"; I mean, how do you get that from the novels?
oh you don´t. This I truly like about the show... actors are fantastic, they do have magic and Dillane is like a sexy sorcerer.

I love Ciaran Hinds too, he´s Captain Wenworth, you have to love him.
I endorseyour Talissa confession. Jeyne was a crappy character. I really like Talissa (not the writing, don´t like Vanessa Taylor at all). I know people think is too modern for Got but I was happy that someone was. There, I forgot, Talissa seems like a strong character.

Absolutely. That's what the confession thread is for. Where we can say all those things we know we would be stoned for in other places without fear of reprisal. Or being judged. Or grinded. Another confession: I love Catelyn. I think she's one of the most accomplished, realistic characters in the story. And one of the things that drives me into her story the most is the way she treated Jon. Yes. You heard it. I think even though we would like to imagine ourselves being much more selfless in that situation, many people would have done the same. I think I would.
Of course it is not ideal, and the kid didn't deserve it and if there is anyone to blame for that, it's Ned. He shouldn't have concealed the whole thing from his wife. Refusing to even talk about his mother didn't allow the wound to air and thus it could have never healed. I think she did the best she could, given the circumpstances. And I don't think she abused him on a constant basis. She tried to love him, she couldn't. She feared for the future of her children, not because she mistrusted Jon, but because the only way to ensure his descendants wouldn't be a threat to their descendats was... to make sure he didn't have any. Send him to the wall. And after suffering so much at what she thought to be Bran's deathbed, can we really blame her for saying out loud what many people would have thought as well in her situation?

I agree with this. Art is very much about perception. It speaks to us in many levels. And perception is formed by many things, among them our past experience, our history, our fears, our dreams, our frustrations. Not just what we know but who we are and how we lived. So plently of times we percieve things first with our guts, to put it bluntly. And then we process it, and arrive to a verbalized opinion on the matter. But even then, many times we remain unaware of those hidden influences. It's like icebergs. We're only conscious of the part on top, but it wouldn't be there if it wasn't for all what's floating at the bottom.
I love exchanging opinions, finding out what other people think, but I don't like when it turns into a heated debate where people try to convert each other. Because I think when that happens, people raise their voices and shut their ears and nothing is achieved but a sour taste in the mouth.

For a series with so many characters it makes sense that people have their favorites.
I feel they all go through cycles.
I hated Sansa in book 1, grew to like her in book 2 and 3 and disliked her again in book 4. Never liked Cersei till the POV chapters in book 4, she is a biotch, but it was fun to experience her madness and paranoia firsthand.
Dany and Arya were great till the end of book 3, then their left turn journeys in book 4 kinda deflated them, tho they did recover a bunch by the end of book 5.
I could go on.

No fear, this is not the place for debates, merely giving my opinion on it.

Yes, and I did mention Ours is the Fury for that. There was a slightly more approval

Debate implies listening and responding to the assertion/point or question. The rules are always respect and courtesy.
You're absolutely correct in what you stated and people tend to forget and personalize what's exchanged. The result
is becoming personally offended . However if people cheapen the process and deflect their personal experiences only
it no longer remains a debate but an " arguement ". IMO It's sad really, we watch our so called role models argue
( presidents, politicians, tabloids, local gossip ) in public every day, only fictional garbage. People actually take those
as fact or remained confused. I think you guys are great !
Oh, I really hate to argue. I tend to clam up and walk away, rather non confrontational and accurate for me.
