Because everybody wants mammoths.

How do you think the third book will be adapted?

We know the book will be split over two seasons, I am most curious where the season will end?
At the Red wedding? So millions of Tv only fans go: "SCREW THIS SHOW!!" and throw their Tv's out their windows?
or at the purple wedding? Leave on a high note?

Please have the guts to end it with the Red Wedding and allow us to see Jack Gleeson for one more season! Also think it will be rushed if they end with the PW. He might be a bastard, and we love to hate him, but I'm going to miss his performance.

Was I the only one that found Joffreys death a bit...underwhelming in the book?

Ok season 3, I think Dany's story will end after she conquers her first city. The scene where all the freed slaves call her "Mother", was pretty damn cool.

Jon's story will end after escapes after Donal Noye springs his trap and kill the wildlings that attack castle black, and they look over the wall and see the Mance Rayders giant army approach.

Arya's story will end when she finds out Beric's zombie revival powers.

Bran....errr...no idea.

Agree? Disagree? How about the others?

Bwah, hopefully GRRM will make up for that with Ramsay's death muhahaha. (does book spoilers = ASoS spoilers only, or are we allowed to post spoiler-free even when discussing events past ASoS?)

I really don't see how the PW could happen in S3. And do we honestly believe book-readers will stop watching the show only because of the RW? I think not. Whoever gets hooked will stay for the long run, they've already had their 'trial by fire' when Ned and his head parted ways.

Me too. Mayhaps the RW needs care in creating ( remember the 77 dishes on the menu ? ) but not over the

top. I hope they don't rush it or bungle the Queen of Thrones in attendance.

Ugh, what a busy season this will be . So many highlights to digest and become distracted by at the same time.

Include Brienne's story, the introduction of the Tyrell's in King's landing, Jon's journey long before he reinteracts

with Donal, Arya, One or two weddings, Jeor Mormont and the Black Bros fight at the Fist of Men vs the Wights,

Bran who ? Slaver's Bay ? Robb ? Winterfell ? F**K !

It was at first but then we missed so much that actually occured because GRRM wrote it that way. Have learned

through Littlefinger's POV what actually occured. Sansa and Tyrion were just puppets. Man, I have to learn

to write more clever stuff in my journals that will have my family figuring stuff out for eons confuse.

Clawing his own throat out was not enough for you guys? Sheesh good thing none of you are king hey.
I'm thinking Jon's story will end with him escaping the Wildlings. Otherwise you have the problem of having the Wildling army and the battle of the Wall from episode 1.
Could be Bran's storyline ends when they decide to head north to seek out the Crow seeing as there's not much story between that and him actually meeting the Crow.
Think the Dany Mother scene will be the final one of season 3 leaving us with the cliffhanger of what will Dany do now that she finally has her army. Poor non book readers when they find out that the answer to that question is...nothing!

Oh and WildSeed def two weddings, you forgot about Tyrion and Sansa.

Which is why I'm thinkin they'll end with BRan's decision to go north. BTW do you guys think RIckon will go with him? Or are they sticking to the original plan of having Osha take him to Skagos.

Sansa and Tyrions was hilarious in the book. The girl who plays Sansa has gotten very tall, almost so she could look the hound straight in the eyes. Seeing her and Tyrion next to each other is gonna make a hell of an image.

Leaving them out of Season 2 was pretty clever. Now he will meet them and they can teach him more about his warging.

Well the show does have an appeal of it's own. There's the bringing to life GRRM characters that some yearned to

actually see and favor. As an example ( albeit controversial ) TrueBlood lost much of it's  viewership among bookreaders

because of the about face destruction of known facts and characters. Nothing was added to enhance the story it

was changed completely from the ground up so it's barely recognizable and woefully inconsistent in the attempt.

Oddly the names are the same but that's all that remains similar to the Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries. it's like

when you hear of a similar name for a movie you're familiar with only it's a similar title and different story

entirely. Imagine "A Storm of Swords" being confused with "A Perfect Storm". We will lose some nitpicky people

that dwell at all blogs and especially Westereros, but the masses all scream for different Koolaide flavors. It is Known.

That's right there will be 2 weddings, I forgot and was thinking of 3 that someone speculated at WiC. BTW, Joffrey's

death by p.....was obvious and will onscreen. It's the details that LF help disclose. Dany and Bran....hmmm, possible

maybe. There are many speculations of how these will play out on screen because so much needs to be streamlined.

I hope Black of Snow (?) gets his books soon. Hey aren't you sleepy by now ?

Oh that was beyond racy.
Well I was just asking for your opinions but seeing as no one gave me their I'll give you mine. GRRM has stated he likes tv OSha as Yvy pointed out. So much in fact that he stated he's going to have her do some cooler stuff in TWOW. Which leads me to conclude that Osha may be with the group for a while, perhaps as till Bran decides to head north, and then head to Skagos like in the books.

Aegon, agreed. Osha will stick around the whole season. She is so much more interesting than her book counterpart.

Mance's attack on the wall will be very interesting to watch, I keep thinking on how exactly will they build momentum and keep the suspense going. Sure, you have Styr's attack, and then Mance's first wave, but after that it pretty much becomes a trench war until the negotiation and Stannis' arrival. All this would take two episodes at the very least. At first I thought there might be a possibility of speeding things up and possibly combining them, resulting in a one hour episode focusing only on the Wall (a la Blackwater), but after a re-read I'm thinking that wouldn't be feasible. If Jon escapes the wildlings at the end of S3, which is most likely, they still need scenes at the Wall for >8 episodes in S4 - assuming Stannis' arrival is in ep.9, leaving the aftermath for ep.10. So, even if they don't feature the Wall in every episode in S4, I think they have ample space to show all every event. Mance's host will definitely require a lot of CGI though. We might see a mammoth or two, but I'm thinking no giants. They come out terrible in most movies anyway.

Maybe I'll watch scenes from the animated " Ice Age" movie to get a glimpse of the wooly mammoth.

I know...while reading the book I was like: "There is no way they will be putting in giants and mammoths"...but then again I thought the battle of blackwater would never be filmed.
We'll see I just hope we get Donal and I hope he dies while kicking ass.

Agree on all three, especially Dany.  I hope that will be the season finale. I'm going to go with some people from WIC (I can't remember which ones) who think the RW should open Season 4, with the PW halfway through. I know that doesn't give Tyrion a lot to do in Season 3, but I think it's rushing too much to get all three weddings in season 3, and separating the RW and PW into two seasons is going to mean blood in the streets.

I didnt know the book was split, my guess was pretty good! I still have a nagging the RW will happen this season.

But if it doesnt, him dealing with his Tulley family at Riverrun, with his armies dissension and his new marriage might make for some interesting stuff if the writing is good. And if I am not mistaken does a battle happen in front of Riverrun? I feel showing Robb kicking ass in battle could go a long way in fixing his story.

I know it's a "sticky subject" but I also wanted PW and Sansa + Tyrion in S3 and RW in Season 4, but I will go along with whatever D&D decide.  Except for missing things in the HOTU which couldn't be helped, I love everything they've done.

I wonder on that myself.  But, D&D had The King in the North waste all kinds of time with that new wife of his that bored me to tears.  If RW happens this season so be it.

D@D recently said somewhere that they've been experimenting and mammoths aren't that difficult to do and there are several cheap ways of doing it. So I'll def think we'll get mammoths, not too sure bout giants though. If they do I really hope they are the hairy creatures from the books and tha eventually we'll get Wun Dar Wun.

Not that this means anything at all really but...... In the UK book 3 was already split . I know they wont stick particularly to that but I thought interesting to see where everyone was at the end of part one. Jon is heading back to the wall.(final chapter)
Bran was at the tower in the lake.Arya and Gendry part ways.Tyrion has welcomed the RV! Brienne has been left behind. Mel is sacrificing leeches .Edmure has agreed to the marriage! The Old bear is no more.... and Danny has just got her Army.

Yeah, aware of that but the season with co mingle with books to include more scenes for the

popular characters. A bit of nit, tuck and add is taking place.

DNA

The battle takes place in ACOK unless your reffering to the batlle of the Whispering Wood and the breaking of the siege of Riverrun. Basically after the battle of Oxcross Rob stays in the west suduing the crag, takin plunder and gold mines from the west. Edmure is told to hold Riverrun. Tywin marches his army west but Edmure refuses to let him cross the river throwing one assault after the other back. Tywin receives news of Stannis' assault on KL and turns his army east and then south. Robb however commands an army of mostly cavalry and had discovered a stretch of ground that would favour him heavily. Plan was to lead Tywin to that battlefield, if Tywn did not Robb controlled all his gold mines and lived off his lands. With one victory Edmure lost the war. Even without Jeynie Westerling Robb was pretty much ****ed from a tactical point of view.

i too would've loved to see robb in action but sadly those days are all gone.

Yes, there was a battle, but I believe it was Edmure leading it, Robb and Blackfish actually scold him for it (even though he won) because they had a strategy that Edmure wasn't aware of. YvyB, the book was split over here as well, and if you think about it these would make some great cliffhangers in between seasons, though I agree with DNA, everything concerning Robb and Edmure will most likely be moved forward to S3. I'll just go weep in a corner now.
