CGI special FX was brilliant and fooled many as being naturally filling out the environment or structure. But every now and the the same area was either larger or smaller given the same reference. The Red Keep with once sweeping views of King's Landing with Shae from the Hand's apartments changed dramatically at the Blackwater episode. The keep and gate were close ups but the distance to the Sea and city environs creeped closer than expected.
Tyrion's hair is a different color in the beginning of S1, then changes, and sometimes looks red. A woman notices that kind of thing. Also Yoren had a different wig in S1 than in S2. Don't they put labels on those things?

Tyrion's hair I paid attention to because I was watching for blonde coloured hair or highlights . I had the
impression then as now that he sports his own hair which may be highlighted or extensions added to it.
The grey -winter- thaw weather at Winterfell was so overcast that I doubt true colours came through or
highlights plainly noticed. Catelyn's auburn hair appeared deeper in hue so did Cersei's blonde tresses.
Sansa's bright copper hues penetrated the shadows stood true as a Tully-Stark offspring. I remember
also how blue and grey imbued every crack and crevice and aura where all sat or moved. The set was too
dark to judge. To contrast we have abundant natural sunlight at Kings Landing which profiled all hues
brighter but sun dappled and bathed in oranges and yellows. This was noticeable in every scene and castle
halls. Of course there were a score of wigs for different takes ( unkempt look, styled, etc ) but those were
reserved , one would imagine for time and efficiency not likely for drastic changes ( except the Red Waste).
Alfie Allen's hair was such a misnomer because the hair dye ( I believe it to be his natural hair ) was over
done. The Comic Con pictures demonstrated medium brown to dark blonde streaks and curly, wavey hair.
In " What's Dead May Never Die " scenes the hair was noticeably darker brown and irrespect to the lighting.
His curls seemed a little tamed too once returned to the islands. Do you remember the " Drowned God
baptism " ? Yoren's coif reminded me of someone with hair extensions to made fuller or longer. I believe
hair product is added to give the actor an unwashed / funky look. Having recently seen the actor whom
portrays Yoren in a BBC production called " the Fades ", his hair was quite similar to his GoT character
being wiry and loose curl. Ironically that 2011 BBC production also starred Natalie Dormer and Joe Dempsie.
Yeah, Yoren's hair was a bit shorter indeed. Speaking of hair, I had no idea episode 1 still had scenes from the initial pilot. I've always wondered why Ned & Benjen's hair was different in one of the scenes!
As I re-read, I've often came across lines used in S1 or S2 that were taken from the more recent books. Can't think of one right now, but kudos for starting this thread, Wildseed, I love trivia!
Alfie Allen has naturally curly locks ( adorable really ) he parts his hair on the side. His hair was actually tamed a bit for the Iron Islands scenes, ( in the Kraken hall and the outdoor scenes ). My thoughts were that he got a deep conditioner done :D

It also shrunk considerably!!!

Wow, Wildseed, great catch! No wonder you're a Seer. They had me completely hoodwinked. Hadn't noticed it at all. Will have to rewatch. (Any excuse, huh) I'm so unobservant it seems...
Love the thread.

Well truthfully the points were brought up over at WiC by even more observant viewers. I was distracted as
most with the emotion each scene conveyed or following the movement of significant characters. I must say
whether watching the series or reading I am caught up with anxieties that I'm poor to admit even to myself.
I mean I'm not likely to share with my neighbour that I cried or threw the book across the bed or shouted
at the television. They'd consider me bonkers or a NERD ! I think that GoT Pay Phone Parody really
described me well, although very embarassessed to admit. By reason of insanity, we miss clues right
under our noses and cry about it like spoiled brats. No wonder GRRM has developed a thick skin about
readers telling him to hurry the fuck up and give them more to read . When I have some time to
think things through in a rational way, I return with renewed interest or review passages that I sped through.
Wildseed, I completely understand where you're coming from. It is my impression that this is the type of show that should be watched twice (at least), just as the books should be read twice if you don't want to miss out important details that could have a great impact on how you perceive a character and his/her actions. My partner is a non-reader and is usually very perceptive when watching a movie or a TV show and yet I have to constantly explain to him things that I feel the show has made clear, because he only watches the episodes once. He's intrigued by the story because he's not a fantasy fan at all. He loves the dialogue, the acting and the production values but misses a LOT, or understands things the wrong way, especially now that he has to wait until each episode airs and forgets things - we watched the first season together in a day, I could only convince him to give it ago long after it ended. When I first read the book I was so busy absorbing everything and in such a hurry to finish them that I missed almost half of the things I now find extremely important and noteworthy. Same as with the show, my first viewing is usually extremely emotional. I even teared up a bit when Brienne made her appearance, I truly love her as a character and was so happy to see her on screen, it was just like watching your child in his first stage play. I usually watch each episode twice until the next one airs, and do a whole season marathon once it ends.

Macha, a woman agrees with you about re-reading! First I was entranced by the HBO show, and Jaqen bought the ebooks and started to read right away, telling me bits here and there but not details unless I asked. Then I decided to read them myself after shoulder surgery with a long "don't do much" mandate, and gobbled them up quickly so I could find out what happened to whom. Then re-read more slowly to enjoy the prose and details. On the 3rd re-read, when I know a minor character's going to die I just skim over their part because I don't want to get too attached again to their history, backstory, personality. I'll skim over it just to make sure I don't miss their pertinence to other story lines, if any. I always watch the show more than once too, and when Blackwater aired I watched it over 10 times before watching anything else. Just so good. It is true, on re-watching you notice many things you missed the first time. Watching as a marathon was great too, everything flowed together quite well.
I knew you guys would understand. It's good to share with kindred souls :D Some Blogs get so serious about details , some infinitesimally small, and make you feel even smaller ( intelligent wise ). Some of those folk have been on discussion boards long before or people in all phases of the media industry. It's okay to become captivated, that's part of the writer's goal. Serious discussion or review is supposed to be enlightening and often fun. So yeah, a second look is often needed to appreciate.
Can you guys think of a few other tidbits from the series for other Topics or threads ?
