While having a fun and relaxed environment has been our main goal from the start, there are a few rules every active member should consider before posting.
Spoilers:
Spoilers should be handled with extra care, and we encourage book readers to use the spoiler tag as opposed to using acronyms or hinting at something and thinking non-readers won’t get the meaning of it.
Topics intended for book readers where you can write freely will be marked as such, so make sure you read the topic’s title, tags, and main post carefully.
As a rule, even in the books section of the forum, events happening in preview chapters will be spoiler-tagged, with the exception of topics primarily discussing said chapters.
We highly discourage the use of spoilers in “Introductions & Open chat”, also in the chat app.
Preferred style of commenting:
We encourage members to participate and write comments with actual content. Whether you only want to make a joke, agree with someone or throw in an appropriate smiley, please throw in some words as well. This is only to keep the discussion flowing and give the other members something to enjoy.
If you’ve forgot something after you already posted your comment you can always go back and edit it instead of writing a new one, especially if no one has commented after you.
If you’re not sure your embedded video, image or link works, use the “Show preview” button to make sure everything is in order before you post. We’ve also set up a Help & Testing thread where you can play around with your options and ask other people for help. If you’re having difficulties with the forum – logging in problems, mobile site not working etc, please let us know in “Forum Issues.”
Images should not be too large. If the original image you wanted to post is quite large in scale, try resizing. The option is available when you insert it, and even after that you can still click the tree icon and adjust it.
Also, please try and give credit where credit is due. If you re-post graphics of any kind (fanart, memes etc) please mention and link the source.
Use quotes, but try and quote only the phrase or paragraph that interests you, as opposed to quoting a whole comment. This applies to quoting images and videos as well. Avoid if possible, and just reference them in a simple reply, as they tend to take up a lot of bandwidth.
Going off-topic:
Going off-topic is not a crime and we don’t want to be too restrictive when it comes to that. However, some moderation is required, so please try not to deviate too much. For example, four off-topic comments in a row is a bit too much, and so a mod might step in and delete them. We want to keep this place interesting for members or guests who only want to read a certain topic because they’re interested in that, and that alone.
For a bit of light conversation members can always retreat to the “Social” section, or the chat area.
Starting a new topic:
We encourage members to start their own topic if they want to discuss a subject or theory that’s not been covered so far. Before you do though, make sure to think on where it might fit better. You should also search the forum and see if a topic covering your subject already exists, as duplicate topics will be shut down. See that you main post is clear, and that the title in itself does not contain any spoilers. Please state from the very beginning if the discussion should be spoiler free or not. You’ll see that all the topics containing spoilers are tagged as such, so please do the same with yours. You can always go back and change the title of your topic by simply editing your main post.

I would add to try and mention+link the source of everything that we re-post.

Wildseed, thanks! I already said in the FAQ topic from where one could send private messages. How big a quote, how big an image...I'm not sure we can set up exact limits to that. If we should, I'll leave that to DNA. (But how big a quote? People should just use their common sense.) Yes, long main posts and comments ARE allowed, I only meant you don't have to quote an entire half-page comment if you only want to respond to a single phrase.

Yeah I know you're aware, just plugging for specifics. There has been a bit of abuse or unknowing perhaps with
the quotes. Lack of bandwidth ( as I'd mention much earlier ) makes for all work and no play.

Thanks for the response my lady :D
I certainly wish that when pictures are quoted that they become small and uncumbersome. Would this happen automatically it would be wonderful, but it can be done by clicking the image, clicking the "Insert/edit image" icon, and adjusting the width to something smaller (and deleting the height, which will automatically adjust)
