How about we go old school a bit? Anyone interested? I recently rediscovered X-files again. I saw it the first time as a child, so I couldn't always watch it with my parents. Now I appreciate it so much more. Love both the movies too. Scully was my childhood heroine!

Ah, memories! Can't even count how many classes I spent whispering with my friends about the latest episode instead of listening to the teachers...

I also did a re-watch a couple of years back, Mags. What's you favourite X-Files episode? I loved the episode with the guy who could make it rain, the one where they're back in the WWII era, and the one with all the cockroaches. And many more, but these are just out from the top of my head.
Hey Macha, sorry for the late reply. I can't remember the WW2 one, although the cockroaches are also one of my favourites. The witty banter between Scully and Mulders was great. There's also one about the inbreds they discover. The woman under the bed completely freaked me out. I'll go and look for the name of that episode. At the beginning of their relationship in one episode Mulder asks Scully to come and sit next to him, and Scully replies something like: "Well, I have a gun so I'll take my chances." :D

Oh the one with the inbreds was creepy as hell. I just said WW2 because it was filmed in black & white I think, and there were some uniforms. They were on a ship or something, can't remember the details. Speaking of their banter, I loooved the episode in which they go to this nice little suburb and pose as husband and wife, only to discover their neighbors were batshit crazy. And had some sort of garbage monster.
That one sounds vaguely familiar, although I might be confusing it with the one where they are chasing this monster that turns into what you fear most. But that whole episode was filmed by someone with a handheld. It was actually brilliant. Was the one on the ship where they age?
There's one early one in the snow, where they go to Antarctica, where you get infected with this worm that makes you change your behaviour. We should do an evolution of Scully's hair style through the years :)

Big fan. I came to the show late as I never was into series. I went to the first X Files movie with a girlfriend who loved the show. I didn't know anything about it but I really like the story. The whole Smoking Man Conspiricy plot was amazing. And I wanted to bang Scully.

The best thing to me about the show was, it wasn't just about finding the truth and the paranormal. It's about the relationship between a girl and a boy :)

Thanks Macha. There's one during a later season. I can't remeber the episode name, but basically Mulder takes Scully to this haunted house and then they get "stuck" there. It's this crazy descent into madness, as they discover their own bodies under the floorboards, only to realize they killed each other XD In the end it was all in their minds.

I've been rewatching through the series and just started season 4. There are a decent amount of good and bad episodes, but all in all, I still really like it. It's no Twin Peaks...but very excited to see if a reboot will happen.
Are you kidding me? I'll be watching it if I have kill a chicken or something. I loved this series. I even liked the movies. Yes, it's kind of like Star Wars
I loved the X-Files. But I checked out when the narrative went catawampus the last few seasons. Only saw a handful of those episodes. And I only saw the first X-Files movie, which I enjoyed.
My excitement for the reboot is tempered in that I fear it will focus on the X-Files mythos and not "monster week". To me, those were, hands down, the best episodes of the series. Some of them were terrifying, and others were funny as shit. More entertaining than Mulder flashing back to his sister being sucked out a window.

Yeah a lot of nostalgia, and I think the first 3 seasons of the Xfiles were amazing TV.
I hope they came up with some clever stuff for the limited run re-start.

THIS, so much THIS. I loved those episodes and it's why I loved the series.
But after what, 2 or 3 movies? I can't even imagine what this reboot will focus on. I admit I'm really curious.
Set up all the way. Ted O'Malley is a peach. So much info dump but that cannot be helped. Will watch more and I thought the Smoker quit smoking it's 2016!
I think they did a great job of both reintroducing some of the main ideas from the series for those who used to watch, and providing exposition on said ideas and the main characters for those who were not previously familiar with the show.
A small part of my wishes I was the type to tape myself and post it on the internet, 'cause people would have certainly been entertained by my dancing about as the theme song played, and of course the requisite double fist-pump right on the beat when they flashed...The Truth is Out There.
I can't wait for tonight's episode.

Umm I'm not sure how much to tell you! See she cannot not believe. Except it's only half truth. Complicated stuff however she didn't change much cause she's still the cautious let's-get-more-proof before we jump into a river of shit agent. Oh yes, Skinner reopens the X-files...
I spaced out and forgot to watch Monday's episode, but I watched it yesterday.
I'm loving it, so far.
In fact, I'm already lamenting there are only 4 episodes left. :(

I haven't seen the new ep. unfortunately. I can't say if I like it or not. First ep was just diving in again and I don't think it is representative of anything.
Just saw the first two, the first episode felt a bit rusty. The second one felt a lot more like the old school show, certainly had me invested.
Anyone else like that they used the original show intro exactly like it used to be? hehe
You must've missed my post a lil upthread if you're asking that question. :)
Macha - I thought they did a good job in that first episode both moving the story slightly forward and providing a kind of X-Files 101 for those who'd never seen the show. Then again, I expected they'd have to do that, as an entire generation who may have been tuning in never saw the original series, so I wasn't put off by it.

How is something both good and meh? For me, if I think something is good, it isn't meh, 'cause meh is less than good. By that same token, if something is meh, it isn't good.
Anyway, I thought it was great. I still can't get over I'm getting to watch new episodes of one of my very, very, very favorite shows of all time.

Good overall but some parts were dragged out and boring, hence good but meh, like a 6/10 it's above five but not that close to 10.
The dream scene were quite interesting though.
I just wish they didn't go for the comic stuff too much, take themselves a little more seriously.
Watched the first episode. I was like, ok, here we go again...Could not help but think of Rust Cohle/ Fox Mulder parallel, working the case the last 10 years on his own, etc etc.. Liked it, wasnt crazy about it, but enjoyed watching it.

Anyone still watching? The last episode was weird!
And the very last one went nuts.
