I was a huge Bond fan, but I have to admit I took a long break after Die Another Day. I still have to catch up with the latest two (only seen half of Casino Royale, and not one minute of Quatum of Solace), and I plan to do that before Skyfall premieres.
And to start this topic properly, here is Adele's Skyfall theme that Cary dug up today.
Love 007. I liked all of the Bonds actually, some more than others. Loved Daniel Craig at the Olympics with the Queen, priceless. Am very excited for this movie and pre-ordered the CD so I can learn that Adele song.

We've decided to get tickets to the IMAX premiere on November 8, when they become available
Is it a midnight showing or just regular, Cary?

A woman LOVVVVVEEEES Bond movies...and will definitely go see the new one as soon as possible. Love all the Bonds also, though could probably do without Lazenby.
Lazenby gets a bad rap, he had very big shoes to fill. But his storyline was not bad, I thought his newly married wife ( Diana Rigg no less!) getting killed in front of him some brave storytelling in the Bond series.

what? you didn´t watch Daniel Craig´s films? I think he´s probably the best Bond. Casino Royale was great.
oh I already listened Adele´s song. I love her voice.

Critically he is hailed by many as the best Bond, I agree with them! Also love the reboot idea. Intrigued by the younger Q idea. So wanna see how it will work out.

I do like Daniel Craig as Bond, even better than Sean Connery. Maybe it's because Bond is more serious and darker now.

@Andrea - I actually watched all Bond films chronologically. I hated Pierce Brosnan and after that I wasn't really interested in seeing Daniel Craig in it. I didn't like him that much back then either, but that changed over time. He's a good actor. I'm glad they took Bond in a darker direction. I'll watch them before going to see Skyfall.
@Aegon - oh that sucks. I'll be thinking of you when I'll go and see it...on October 26th!! Mwahaha, only teasing. I might wait for a bit as well. I'm not an IMAX fanatic, I'll probably watch it in a regular cinema. In the morning, so that no one else will be there.

I didn´t like Brosnan too so I was pleasantly surprised with this new and darker Bond. I´m not sure about Quantum but Casino Royale was really good. Saw "Defiance"? Craig has range as an actor but I think his best performances are not the famous ones.

Yes, yes, Defiance! A great role. And another one that escapes me now, a Brittish movie..ugh, will have to check it out later, I can't remember the name for it now.

Um, Old Country for Old Men was a very good movie IMO.
Back to Bond, I'm fnally up to speed. Quantum of Solace was just your average Bond movie, but Casino Royale was great. Too bad about Giancarlo Giannini not coming back for the next one.

Well that was sheer awesomeness! I loved it, it tops all of the others easily in my opinion. Lots of canonical references, beautiful soundtrack, gripping story, good acting, and the best opening credits of any Bond movie ever. Javier Bardem was insanely good. Bonkers, really. And Q, my lovely lovely man. How I adore thee!
A few spoilers.
Spoiler
Ok where the hell was the wound Bond got when Moneypenny shot him??? There was no mark on him that I saw, just the other wound. This is bugging me. Skyfall in Scotland was a surprise. So... Bond is a Baratheon. Bond = It all makes sense now!

OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG.
What an event! And to see it on IMAX was a real treat. I loved almost every minute of it! Now a few comments:
Spoiler
I was surprised to see it retain some campiness, such as having an out-of-this-world villian. I thought it was going to wind up being fairly serious. But I'm not at all disappointed by this. I said it before, Javier Bardem gets all the good hair roles!
And "How do you know I haven't done this before?" to Silva. Oh, the writers are such teases!
My one major disappointment was the opening credits. While good graphics, they felt like they were all over the place.
Now I need sleep.

LOL @ Javier Bardem's hair. So true. Unfortunately, Bond villains are almost always camp. And how many of them didn't have a physical defect? I personally hate that, but it comes with the territory. Like Bond girls. Meh. Why all the marketing for Berenice Marlohe? She was only there for a few minutes. Even Moneypenny had a bigger role. The "how do you know I haven't done this before?" scene had us gasping for air, it was brilliant!
PS: when Bardem takes away that prosthetic of his or how do you call it. OMG. I only noticed the teeth at first, and then his whole face started changing.....
Oh, and Dame Judi Densch has had a wonderful run as "M" in seven movies with two separate Bonds. Sad she had to go, but Lord Voldermort should make a delightful and interesting replacement.

I was so surprised by that. I haven't read any speculation prior to the film's release, so I had no idea
Spoiler
this would be her last one. I thought she might die in the scene where she's making her little speech in front of the minister and the commission, and Silva comes in and starts shooting everybody. But once that was over I was sure she was going to make it. Her wound didn't seem so serious, so that came as a total shock for me. You get a hint that Mallory ( haha..."M") is there to stay in his scene with Q and Tanner, where he catches them and gives them advice, but I didn't think of that while watching. I just loved all the canonical references: the car, the ejection seat, Q, Moneypenny etc.
I knew him from his younger days, he was such a hunk. And now he's Santa.
THAT's who he played. Thank you. I couldn't figure it out when I saw his name in the credits.
Skyfall was amazeballs, oh my Godswood!!! Go see it!

Here's something else that bothered me about the movie.
Spoiler
The bad guy actually won in the end. His intent was to get his revenge on "M" and he did it. He killed a bunch of agets. Blamed her, made her feel guilty. She died. He didn't get to see it, but he did it.
Still, best James Bond movie ever.

What bothered me was:

Bad guy made me pity him. He was tortured, he was betrayed, I understood his anger. He was a wonderful bad guy.
Also, on a good note, same house as Daniel Radcliff's Lady in Black, very cool.
