I think Hitchcock is meant to be coming up? So looking forward to that one

Macha if that is true then what am I being punished for? I have no idea when Lincoln will come out here and I mistakenly thought Skyfall would come out this weekend. Have to wait another week.

I've watched Twilight 3.2 and, without getting into how seriously disturbing this saga is, can somebody illuminate me on how vampires get an erection? Yes please thank you.
Spoiler
PS: But the ending was GOLD. Cop-out of the century. Might have just broken a rib laughing. Bobby in the shower taken to a whole new different level. PPS: Can someone please get that lipstick off that little girl's face? And cut her nails. Because that shit was disturbing enough to begin with, without her looking like a friggin diva who just happens to reach sexual maturity in 7 years, after which she remains like that for god knows how long. How convenient. PPPS: Creepy CGI baby is creepy.

Bonus points for Wendell Pierce tho.
Thank you, Macha, I bless your commentary. I didn't feel the need to see this "saga" in the first place and now I feel I don't have to!

Django by Tarantino. Finally Quentin pays homage to Leone with a Western! So. Pysched.
Yeeees! And Christof Waltz is in there too from Inglourious Bastards, sweet!

Don't think this qualifies as a winter movie, but just saw the Dark Knight Rises or whatever the new batman was. Very good. Highly recommend it.

Just saw Dark Knight Rises also, but I was reaaaaaally unimpressed with it.
Spoiler
Talia's reveal
was a good moment, but other than that...no. Anne Hathaway was a terrible Catwoman, I'm sorry. She's sweet and everything, but that was a first-class miscast IMO. And a big no to Bane's accent. Tom Hardy, baby, you're making it really difficult for me to keep on liking you.
Yeah, I would like to know where Nolan would have taken the story if Heath lived. I heard that the Joker was to play a big part in the last movie. This was my least favorite of Nolans Trilogy by far.

I loved Bane's voice! I loved him as a villain, the Talia reveal was expected on my part and not so good because of that. Everyone else loved Catwoman, Macha is the first I've heard who didn't like it. I especially loved the way Bane conveyed emotion with his eyes. The weakest of the trilogy yes, but still a good movie. And yes Rygar is correct, Joker was to play a big role in the next film, Heath's death nearly caused the Nolan brothers to walk away from the franchise.

Saw Django today! Oh my Godswood! Very good. A must see for any Tarantino fan.

On the movies-you-have-to-see front, I recommend A Royal Affair, Denmark's submission for the foreign language film in the Oscars this year. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it was wonderful - good script, great acting on all three major parts, and a stunning cinematography.
"I´d not prolongued the chewing up, Doc. Nor the being spat out. Not go out a cunt. It´s the dispatch I find inglorious. The whole delusory fucking self importance.". Al Swedgin ;).
Supporting Actor • Alan Arkin, Argo • Robert De Niro, Silver Linings Playbook • Philip Seymour Hoffman, The Master • Tommy Lee Jones, Lincoln • Christoph Waltz, Django Unchained
I will bet good coin Christoph nails it again, whot, whot

Watched Les Mis yesterday and I have to say I got rather swept up by it. My eyes even got a little teary. It's an impressive piece of filmaking from Hooper and I take my hat off to all of the cast (Even Crowe!) cause that must haven been incredibly difficult to shoot.
Saw the "Carrie" re-do on Friday. Hmm. Well, that Chloe actress, no matter how dumpy they make her look, is still beautiful, so, doesn't sell that she's dumpy at all. The crash scene is excellent, my fav. Julianne Moore, does her best, she really does, but no can hold a candle to the psycho mom in the original. My ? Wait for it on video/pirate.

Hmm, I want to see Noah. But I don't really like Darren Aronofsky. Problematic.
I liked The Wrestler and Black Swan, haven't seen Darren's other work.
Really don't know what to make of the trailer for Noah, I didn't love or hate it. Nice to see Crowe and Winstone locking horns, those scenes will be full of testosterone.

As an Atheist I got SO many thoughts about this flick, but I bet it will be the comedy to see!
Take it like a significant percentage of Christians (most in Europe, probably half in the US) and most Jewish people take it. A story. Part of our sacred texts and containing many discerned meanings in our respective traditions and key to understanding later scripture, but a story nonetheless. And this is an adaptation of it.

I like Biblical stories, the story of Moses is one of my favorites ( tho not a big fan of the part where god kills innocent Egyptian kids but oh well).
But the Ark story should be an example of poor, inconsistent overly embellished writing if there ever was one. An all-knowing deity seems suprirsed the people he himself created turned out bad? So what does this all powerful being do? Turn back time so can fix this from happening? Nope, kill them all ( including pregnant women, cuz we all know babies are born bad!) And not by the snap of a finger (which would be easy for the dude created black holes by thinking it) but an overly elaborate, wasteful and well...silly plan.
And you guys found the Avengers story weak?
( worked for 20 hours straight, felt a bit trollish )

Gravity is an incredible piece of filmaking. I strongly urge you guys to check it out in 3D at the cinema, IMAX if possible.
Our first IMAX theater just opened a couple of weeks ago, so it's tempting to do just that, Al. Gravity seems like it would be a good choice for my first IMAX experience.
Gonna disagree with ya here, Al . I thought the first was much better, much more action. And I would stick with Holiday Granger, Jen Lawrence is getting too full of herself

Really? I thought the production quality had improved, the action felt better and more gritty. The acting also felt more intense this time.
No love for J-Law? from the interviews I've seen she seems really down to earth and cool.
I'm with Al on this one, I thought the second one was better too, for all the reasons he stated. The love triangle could have used a bit more work though, but all in all I thought the movie was pretty decent. And I also love Jennifer Lawrence, she's crazy as hell.
I've seen her tear into photographers at awards shows and appearances, I mean showing teeth mad and that she was too OCD for Nicholas Hoult, which is really nuts. I.E., "he's too dirty, too much of a bachelor". Really? He is a bachelor

Saw 47 Ronin on Christmas. The good thing was that Keeanu (sp?) doesn't speak much . As said, "it's a chess piece script". You know what will happen all the time, no guessing really involved. For pure entertainment purposes it's a "decent" movie. They had a chance to do so much more with this and really dropped the ball, IMO. Hiroyuki Sanada from "The Last Samuri' and lots of other movies is wonderful, but could have done so much more, leading lady, too.

Been wanting to see this for a few weeks now, thanks a lot for posting, Cary! Kafka, Capaldi, Richard E. Grant and Mrs. Hughes? It's a wonderful life indeed.
