A woman is looking forward to the episode, but also dreading it...a strange combination of emotions. Think doing laundry will calm me down today, and maybe a little trimming in the garden since the sun is out but it's not too hot. OK, see ya'll later!

It was cool that they took Frey's wife instead of jingle bell. Worked well. Missed Cat clawing her face. Nothing else for me to say,

I just imagined more drums ... like in Blackwater ? That's my only nit pick , and I imagine they didn't have Cat scratching her face for the same reason Tyrion still has a nose ... too much to keep the effect up.

Rikon going to Umber's .... thoughts?

There were some really awful moments during the episode.

I laughed hysterically when Summer attacked the wildling, and the Kill Bill moment when the Three Amigos entered Yunkai

Still, the Red Wedding.

Oh. Joffrey isn't going to survive next episode. It's clear as day now. Maybe no purple wedding, but he will be purple.

Come on Cary, Joffrey dying this season is crackpot territory now.

What I'm curious to see is how Sansa and Tyrion's pseudo-marriage will cool even further upon hearing the news. And is Jaime already back in KL in that ep. 10 promo? Hmmm could be interesting.

Soooo, no Coldhands, just as I expected. Oh well, not a huge loss, S4 then. Make it happen, D&D.

Oh blackfish where art thou?

Glad Cary said it first. wow what a debacle. and D&D showed us such promise with their last one. this episode was awful. The last scene has the most positive things, but the worst effects. I would have liked more subtlety with the treason, but that would have been hard to do. I can not wait till next season when we have 45 mins spent over the course of the season on Osha and Rickon hanging out.

ha yes it was indeed a nice day for it.

pretty @$% graphic as well, hopefully will scare away a few casual viewers who still don't realise how far cable shows push out the boundaries. let's face it, the knifing of a pregnant woman, which ain't even in the books... was surely added to ramp up the intensity and maybe surprise the otherwise tipped-off reader.

reminds me of the shock you get at the end of the first book when the first stark is cut down to size... after all the sympathy for him that the reader has built up... the GrrM trademark.

Seriously, what's the whole "shock" with the way Talisa gets killed? How on earth is it more disturbing to see someone get a knife on the belly than it is a cut on the neck, blood gushing out? I don't get it... but well... I suppose we all are shocked by different things in different measures. If it is about the fetus, well... he'd have died anyway no matter how Talisa was killed so i don't know.

Was it shocking? yes. Does it make us feel disgusted? Yes. But because of how graphic it is, and how it is filmed. I really don't understand how legions of people are asking for D&D's head for "omg! they stabbed a woman in the abdomen! How dare they!" *shrugs*. But to me, the most emotional moment of that scene is when Catelyn pleads for Robb's life with a cracked voice, he turns around, they look at each other one last time, and then she sees him get killed and slashes Frey's wife (great choice, btw, Jinglebell i feel would've been too distracting). But more than anything, I suffered when the doors close and the band begins to play, that was fantastically done. That feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach... Perfect.

ETA: I'm glad this finally puts to rest the whole "jeyne is pregnant" theories. But I don't know if you guys read Michelle's interviews... It seems we'll have no lady stoneheart? And I was so sure they'd called next episode mhysa partially because of her... confuse.gif

Ms. Fairley is quite good at keeping secrets. So it might still happen, tho I can also see how the show might not want Lady Stoneheart. We shall see.

I can see how Michele Fairley might be veiling in her interview. I mean, why not outright say it for the massive number of people who read and are expecting her to continue. I mean, her language seems subtle enough to where if she does reappear, it won't be a betrayal of interviews.

"It’s emotional to say, goodbye. It really is, because it matters, and because it mattered and because those friendships meant something."

She's stating a fact. Not her fact. Not "It was emotional to say goodbye." I could be reading too much. But I will find it hard to do certain storylines without Lady Stoneheart.

This from her EW interview: "I read the series so I knew what was coming and I also knew how many years I signed for. "

I think that's a bit telling, don't you?

She just signed up on to another Tv show.

http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/06/04/michelle-fairley-suits/

However Lady Stoneheart would only be a cameo appearance, only needed twice. Once when they kill the Frey messenger and the other when they capture Brienne. I think Brienne's story will need Lady Stoneheart, it was one of the few great momemnts of book 4.

That's true, if they need her for Season 4 it will only be for a single appearance or so, so they'll be able to keep her involvement under wraps fairly easily, I would think.

I couldn't agree more miss Tir, you sumed up my feelings about this episode. Michelle Farley, you crushed my mom's heart to death, i'm very impressed by her performance.

I saw the episode with my dad (he hates you George), and i told him that finally, imo, it was quite close to the books, Talisa excepted. And i'm glad it allows to end it up with "boring to death" Jeyne's pregnancy theories...

They could just dig up an animatronic stand-in from a Disney World warehouse. Or go real old-school and break out some Ray Harryhousen magic.

Hah, it is for me actually, maybe because of the way it was shot and because - this may sound weird - I'm more accustomed with seeing people getting their throats slashed than women being stabbed with such a close shot and the way it was filmed. But it could be also because I have a real phobia of sharp blades going anywhere near a uterus or lady parts. Gaaaaaah!

However, violence is violence and I think it's absurd to grade it like this, what is acceptable to see on TV and what's not. It was supposed to be gruesome. They didn't glorify it. And I'm going to go all the way and say that people that think they just *had* to show it because somehow the writers revel on violence against women, these people should re-exam themselves.

D&D were smart there by having them stab her stomach. Lord Walder does indeed know what goes on under those clothes.

@macha, i know what you mean. Mr. Tir is the same when it comes to blades (well, he had a knife through his hand when he was young so you can imagine!!) I was just getting annoyed at all the whining, and the crying to the heavens of the people that say that such a thing should never be allowed in tv, that the show hasn't "earned" (wtf???) that shot, etc, etc, blah blah blah...

Ah, late to the party again. .........What a episode! Like DNA said haters gonna hate. But for me , I think D+D totally nailed it.
Liked Jon, Bran, Arya and Dany`s scenes. RW was brilliantly shot, imo, and brilliantly acted. Left me totally choked up.
Re Lady Stoneheart, I think we will see her for the couple of scenes mentioned above. Another clue that I had forgotten, is a little known, short interview Michelle did for our local N.Ireland news, her being an NI native and all, early in season one.
In it, she talked a little bit about her role, and carelessly quipped that her character ends up as a zombie, and that she wouldn`t need much makeup to play that part. I don`t know if she ever got scolded for that, she probably got away with it due to the very limited amount of people who watched it, and an even smaller group within in those people who were Thrones fans at that time. Could be something, could be nothing. Personally I really want Stoneheart, and I believe we will get her.
In the opening scene of the last ep. I would like to see wolfshead Robb strung up on the Frey bridge, as Cat`s body is dumped in the river. And in the last scene , Thoros mumbling over Cat`s body in the shallows, and her eyes opening.
Really looking forward to ep. 10 , whatever happens.
F***frey,F***bolton, F***lannister.

Feathers! No need to censor your curses here! FUCK THE FREYS!

And yes Michelle killed it (literally and figuratively), it must be a dream as an actor to have such an iconic death scene that everyone is talking about it. I hope she gets some commendation for that performance.

I would love to see a Lady Stoneheart scene esp with Brienne, I do wonder how they will explain it onscreen. Hmm.

I am blown away. I must say that they did a great job on the RW. We will get a Lady Stoneheart, whoever the actor maybe.

@Tir ... My two penith on the shock of being stabbed in the belly as apposed to say a cut throat . For me , as a mother , what you said , it's the baby , now I understand your reasoning that mother dies, baby dies... but it isn't that.
To me he stabbed the baby , and to Talisa , he stabbed the baby and it is the shock factor, he didn't slice her throat and the baby died of consequence, he killed the baby first.. or that's how it seems ..."Oh my god he's stabbed a baby? "
Does that make sense?

Thiefted this from Tir, but couldn't help myself: "Michelle fairley repays the game of thrones writers’ treatment of Catelyn this season by giving the most powerful performance of the year in a span of five minutes."
