Anyway, oddly enough I thought that this was in the Moderator forum. So I was responding under the impression that this notification was done on that forum. So at the very least, the whole part about being transparent is not as much of an issue as I said it was.

I deleted a post I found directed at the originator of the "Making Artyfacts" thread that I found particularly hostile but claiming to speak on behalf of members of the forum.  I consulted with the other moderators after the fact and they have agreed with my decision.

When I told the originator of the post that I did this, and explained why, which I did in private to save ourselves from having another incident of online posting drama, what I was told included "Fuck you. " I am not personally taking action but have asked another moderator to look into it. 

Any active community member who wishes to know the text of either the deleted post or my response to that user can message me, but saving the details from being published on a public page. 

DNA Note: The ban is for 24 hours.

I think it's absurd for them not to have an option that allows redirects from domain to domain, especially since it's in their interest too that we don't lose visitors.

Interesting that our old link - winteriscomingfans.activeboard.com/ redirects here to fleabottom. Can we use that somehow?

Edit: actually scratch that, that's just the non-paid version which is identical, I doubt we can do something similar with wicgeeks.

I did a bit of spring cleaning in the Game Of Thrones: The HBO Television Series forum.

To keep things tidy, there are now two categories for S4:

General dicussion - where everybody can create a topic

and Reviews (reply only), where everybody can reply, but only Don or approved users can create topics. This was done to encourage discussion in one place, because last year it was all a bit messy with two separate threads for each episode, plus individual user reviews etc.smile 

If we want to repeat last year's "Review the episode in 10 words or less" (which was pretty cool!), let's just add them to the S4: general discussion category.

Hope everybody's ok with this. We have one *NO spoiler* topic for each episode, and one general Book to Screen topic for the entire season.

Re: The Movie clips thread.

No "serious" forum allows embedding of videos, because it's just terrible for people with slower internet connections. BaS and I were in favor of linking to videos, Al and Don liked the idea of hiding them under the spoiler tag, and others kept on simply embedding them. There was no general consensus, but I thought it was common sense we should choose one of those two options. My bad. I personally edited some of the posts, thinking that maybe they were posted from a phone and I was doing them a favor by helping. My bad, again. Lesson learned.
If you need a disclaimer in writing, that's great - just pick whatever suits you best and we'll implement it in all video threads (including "Currently listening"). There's no need for jumping at each others throats over such little details. Asking nicely usually does the trick. Thanks.

User Al Swaeregen was banned from the site for 24 hours for profanity aimed at a Moderator in chat.
The moderator in question will fill in this post with the details of the conversation that caused the altercation.

"I deleted a comment in chat that I felt in context was spoilerish. Considering the other comments that were surrounding it, it was certainly close. Al said it wasn't spoilerish but pervy. I responded, that even if it wasn't spoilerish, it was paedophilic (this was in jest, as there have been similar comments such as that in chat that haven't been deleted).  

"Al continued to complain about how we are just as bad as Winter is Coming. He was relentless. Half the time I ignored him, conversing with other people on the chat room. At one point Al said "Fuck You". I ignored this, because I admit to being somewhat aloof to his concerns.  I left the channel.  Another user had come on to the channel in the meantime and wasn't helpful with his remarks; 

"After I returned, Al had not let it go, and continued to antagonize me. I alternately ignored him or made snarky asides. Probably best I should have completely ignored him. When I finally told the channel I was ignoring him, he used a highly disparaging antigay slur that has since been put on the banned words list.

"Also, just for the record, I did not endorse banning Al at that point. The situation was highly charged. But by the time it was discussed, Al had deleted his account. "
