The first episode was agonizingly sad, good performances all around and the mystery seems interesting...will keep watching.
In addition to Grey Worm, Rory, Walder Frey....did anyone else notice Septa Mordane playing Danny's granny?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOH! *hihihihi*
I kinda had a hunch ever since episode 2 or 3, can't remember which. And then by ep. 7 I was sure, but couldn't decide on the motive. It was *very* surprising. Can't wait for S2, although it's very hard to see it where the story might go.
PS: David Bradley for all the awards!
Loved this, had a hunch who the killer was because of the
Spoiler
focussing on the characters
but couldn't really be sure untill episode 7. Some amazing acting in this and Walder Frey stole the show! Oh and that cop getting fat on toast cracked me up everytime he was in a scene, classic case of the s.

Just finished Episode 3. Don't think I've watched 5 minutes of this without bawling, jeez. Anyway, Septa Mordane and Frey I got. Yep, no parent should outlive their child/children. Awful how that happens. This is a good series however, and I will finish it. Need to get out the Red Wedding tissues

I had it backwards. I thought the kid did it and the dad covered up for him, jeez.

Spoiler
And I thought the father did it *because* of his kid, like that he found out his kid was being blackmailed or did something terrible and by killing the other one (forgot all the names, sorry) he was only trying to protect his son. His true motivation completely blew me away.
And can Rory and the Aussie chick get together in S2?
Amazon.com has released up to Episode 5. Never mind that I quoted your post and erroneously read Ly's spoiler before deleting the text in my reply. I've burned that information from my brain.

So, now that I have a good idea, based on reading a spoiler by mistake, who the real killer is, after seeing episode six, I've decided that
Spoiler
Joe Miller has real psychopathic tendencies. He's always smiling at everyone, but when DI Hardy went to talk to Tom, he jumped down Hardy's throat. Plus there was all that foreshadowing going on: Joe: "You don't suspect everyone, hah, hah" Det. Ellie Miller "No, of course not you, hah hah"
Still, I'm looking forward to finding out what creepy Susan is all about. And Nige, what an asshole, what he did to her dog. I fucking hate him and hope he dies.
I'm still crying about Jack (Walder) The town is an asshole.

all righty then, let´s have a quicky . Also didn´t know about season 2 so thank you for that and I just watched the first two episodes and this thing is still quite good, more so because we know all of them and know their relationships. Not easy to build on that, chickins. I think you have to give it a try. This show has, probably one of the greatest collections of characters I saw on telly and is just a little village! Gotta love some, gotta hate some. The relationship between Miller and Tennant is even funny sometimes. I´ll keep watching.

I saw the first episode and I am going to keep watching it... particularly since Gwen from Torchwood is in it
BUT...
The acting is on par, however, the writing is absolutely atrocious. I feel as if I'm watching a soap opera at times.
I think I will still like it. But I can see the criticism very easily.

atrocious is a big word I wouldn´t even use for Downton Abbey. The only character that yells like in soap operas and behaves like an asshole is the dead child´s mother, Rose I think it´s her name. She is annoying and acting crazy but you know, dead kid. Is there some character you especially think it´s being soapy?

When all is said and done, I quite enjoyed Series 2. And they basically announced there was going to be a Series 3, even though they seemed to have wrapped everything up rather tidily.

i freaking loved broadchurch. i love how it was so character oriented and yeah, save a few of them like the prosecutor woman, i found the writing pretty good. it kept me super enganged all throughout and made me care deeply for the characters and their interactions. the ending was a tad disappointing but i'm still blown away that they could squeeze this season after they'd wrapped it up last year so well. And i loved how many fist pump moments last season come back to bite them in the ass, a la tyrion. I've no idea how they can possibly get a third season though. but i will b waiting for it for sure.

I'm alone in this thread now BUT I've just gotten round to it and I absolutely LOVED Ep. 1. I had no idea what S2 can be about, and I'm amazed at the route they went. Enjoying everything so far, even Charlotte Rampling.

So they're doing S3 as well?? Whooooo hoooo! Perhas Joe will try to get back into town?
I'm in love, sweet love with this show, S2 has been a treat.
I have immensely enjoyed this, despite the rather dull lives the characters lead (when they're not involved in murders, being victims, being suspects, being on trial, witnesses, or solving murders); the plots are so intricate and woven. It's been incredible.

I'm new in this town. I saw two eps this week on Netflix and I'm hooked. So my predictions are that:
Spoiler
the Sue Lady who hides Danny's skateboard is hiding Mark Lattimer's infidelity. Whoever killed the boy was Mark's lover and was caught right after Mark left the hut. Probably is Sue's son which is why she cleaned the hut so well. And Tom, the cops' son probably deleted messages from Danny that told him about all of this.
So good and I agree with Cary at some point it becomes just a tad soapy. But good soapy! So I binged watched these two days. 6 eps in two days. I do NOT recommend it. Though in all honesty it's basically like watching a 2 hr movie each day because the eps are about 45 min long. So not to spoiler ANYONE who might accidentally come like 2 years later to post in this thread as a newbie but:
I did NOT figure it out by myself! Which is the excellent thing. However it was odd to see who the killer is. He looked so normal. Sooooo normal. And is that psychic guy for real?! I mean I don't know what to think. Also, I felt so bad for DS Miller. I did approve of the beating she delivered to that killer. Odd question about the pedo they arrested. Was he going to turn into a full blown pedo or was he just a bit nut. However it was, he's definitely not in his right mind.
I'm going to save the second season for another week of binge watching. Thanks for the thread
Two years later TW starts watching season 2... Seriously messed up that the killer pleaded not guilty. You'd think once they confess it's all tied up, but no.
I'm not surprised Don about the mixed reviews. I think the premise of raking up the old stuff from season 1 and turn every character's life upside down with no benefit to the audience (since we already know and have seen this stuff in season 1) is not exactly the most exciting storyline you could wish for. But looks like Miller and Hardy are neck deep in the Sandbrook murders investigation while doing the trial for the first season's murder. So I like it.
It turns into a little bit of a soap opera there at the end with the community taking a stand together. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I mean jeez, sure, the ending it's messed up but I kind of hoped they'd put the killer in the hole in the ground and forget about it. ok maybe I've seen Ripper Street too much! The Sandbrook murders were totally what I expected by the way. Is it as good as first season? no. Definitely worth binge watching though, if you can't sleep in the middle of the night.
