I was just thinking about revising the Cub wins down, but your terms are acceptable. The Cubs will always be an NL East team to me. Fucking interleague play and expansion messing with simple people like myself. And the Philadelphia Flyers will always be in the Patrick Division!

Cubs got off to a good start to their weekend series with their arch rival, St. Louis, last night. Today, Cubs pitcher Villanueva will go for his fourth decision in ten games ... how the fuck is that even possible? The Cubs have forgotten how to baseball.

Well then.. A woman cannot even enjoy a good brag on Sat morning for her team winning by the seat of their sweet pants in the 11th! (they could have gone to 12 when finally the clock strikes, sure but this is no damn fairytale).

And why (?) one might ask I cannot enjoy my morning coffee that goes with my bragging?!?! Because there's always someone like the poster directly above.

FYI: there's 162 games out of which they have played 10. THAT IS 0.061728395. And you have just made your mind up: "The Cubs have forgotten how to baseball" after 6% of their games this season. Shameless.

Umm, Samardzija was flawless as far as I listened. His second game and no decision so yes I understand he's frustrated and talks like he's owed something: the team did not take advantage. It would piss anyone off. But it was Veras who fucked it up anyway (which would have made a weaker soul than me extremely mad). I just read the play by play this morning for the last two innings and well.. I was happy.

When we first got cable back in the 80s, we received WGN. Before cable, there was maybe, maybe, one game a week on TV. WGN aired the Cubs all the time. The team back then had Mark Grace, Ryne Sandberg, Andre Dawson, Greg Maddox, Shawon Dunston and Doug Daszenzo (my pint-sized mancrush). How could I watch that team lead by their little bulldog manager and not become a fan?

 

Classic bait and switch. Outside of Sosa, I have a hard time naming a good player for the Cubs who played more than three or four seasons for the team in recent memory. They grind their pitchers into nothing and miss on acquisitions as often as they hit. They ran Todd Hundley out of town. And announcer Chip Carey after he DARED to question the capabilities of the organization. Remember when Corey Patterson was going to be the face of the franchise? What ever happened to that guy?

 

I think it's by design. That franchise prints money whether they field a good team or not. Outside of the players, I don't think they care about winning.

 

Villanueva's situation is instructive. Ten games into the season and he is a starting pitcher making his FOURTH fucking appearance. The franchise couldn't be bothered to start the fucking season with basic fucking personnel. They. Don't. Give. A. Shit.

 

You Chicagoans need to fucking riot. Or at least stop going to games.

 

ETA: Carlos Villanueva struck out 2 batters over three innings. Not bad. Not great, but something to build on after he gave up nine damned runs on ten hits over those three innings.

 

How does you baseball, Chicago? It's a mystery!

And therefore we, all those who root still for them, should up and riot, refuse to buy tickets and merchandise, and properly bash the Cubs like a little whiny troll who think they are our bitch!!!! wait... I'm sorry but you plain asked for that one.

Also, 2007-08 Cubs won division titles. They did not stop at 2003 Moises Alou thingy. And Corey left in 2005 so Cubs did not just die right then and there! Then in 2009 the Ricketts bought in and ended the Tribune majority holder period, and from then on it went a bit downhill. I saw you refer to the Tribune several times as running them into the ground and no, that's not the case. But of course you'd know that if you'd stuck out with the team and not sell out like a little detractor instigating riots would!!!!

I could not see today's game. Thank the Gods! I'd probably curse like a sailor. Will read the play by play later on. Hopefully they'll get their ass into shape tomorrow.
