I played every single Halo game, all the way back in 2001. The first Halo game kinda became an obsession of mine. I had two systems and two Tv's networked all the time so I could get a LAN game going anytime. But now after all these years the games have kinda burned me out. :(

The fourth could have been better, especially in the multiplayer. But I love the story too, and that's getting more interesting. I can't see myself not playing a Halo game (it would take some serious crap for me to do that).
Also, the TV show could be awesome. They promised a GOT-caliber production, which could be great. It's premiering on Showtime and Xbox Live, apparently alongside Halo 5.
Halo: Reach burned me out but Halo 4 restored my faith in the series. Watching Cortana's story play out during that game was interesting and fresh take for a video game, I am not ashamed to admit I welled up a little when she disappeared.
I really, really hope 343 have the courage to stick to their guns and don't cave in and bring her back, it would lessen the emotional impact of Halo 4's ending. Oh and please for the love of R'holler keep Chief's helmet on!!! We don't need to see John's face.
I agree on all points. I'm in it for the story as much as the gameplay and Reach's story was mostly crap. Then there was the boring, gray graphics that got old, the slow slow gameplay and the annoying health system (it's so much better without that shit). Even if the multiplayer was better in Reach, I still think it's way way worse than 4 (which was solid).
I think Halo 5 is in the right hands. 343i have said repeatedly that they've learned from mistakes in Halo 4 and that they are listening to feedback (specifically on multiplayer) and with next gen awesomesauce I just can't wait for the campaign. And Cortana better stay dead. Will you be getting it, or did you go PS4?
I agree the story was not bad at all in H4, at least the Cortana/Master Chief parts. It was touching and poignant...something you see very little of in games. I found the Didact to be a very cool looking but kinda meh villain, and the whole librarian part was kinda whaaa.
I do admit 343 has done a good job taking over the baton from Bungie, and I hope they get to push the envelope next game.

The Didact boss battle was a bit of a cop out, all you did was crawl towards him and plant the bomb right? I don't recall it being very memorable.
It was a QTE, so of course it was a cop out. As for the Didact, they could have done him better. They never even explained why he hates humans. That's pretty lame. Aside from that the story was great. But that didn't stop people from taking a solid dump all over Halo 4... Hopefully the feedback helps.
I think this is Halo's last chance to retake the throne.
