Going to see this on Christmas Day, after breakfast and get on my ho, ho, ho

YES! I've seen parts of the ComicCon panel and I'm so in. Tarantino filmed it with 70 mm lenses. The big giant scope ones that filmed Ben Hur and some other epic movie. Also It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World. It should look fantastic. Wonder if they'll release it everywhere like that. I'm taking an IMAX tix.
As for the whole thing: I can't believe how far Walter Goggins got. I have seen him in several things but this (besides his Boyd Crowder) has to be the biggest yet. Wonderful cast, Samuel Jackson still got it and Kurt Russell's mustache looks just as bad ass as the man himself. Jenifer looks like she'll give them all a run for their money. Crazy character lady and wonderful actress.
Wonderful homage to the classic Western, especially to Sergio Leone. Typical nihilistic Tarantino film, with all the great dialogue set in long, and I mean lllooonnng scenes, superb acting (the Sheriff, a break out role for him - and Jenny Leigh, so great), gratuitous bloodshed & use of the N word, and squimish sexual situations that make you say WTF to the fat bald Asian guy slurping his cup of coffee next to you.
It also had a 12 minute intermission, which was super cool. Looked great in 70mm. Morriconne's score was brilliant.
I really enjoyed this, 9/10. Right up there with Basterds.

I got lucky and squeezed this one in tomorrow! After last week's SW I didn't think I'll see another for months Two movies in two weekends?! I think Christmas is here!!! Anyway, says it's in 70mm Ultra Panavison greatness on a damn 40 foot screen or something. They release the standard version in a couple of weeks I think. Too excited for words.
We only have one fucking theater in the country which has a 70MM projector, so I'm forced to watch it in a different format and in a different year. Good to read your thoughts Ry, heard some less positive things on other websites.
You might get a good deal on that standard formatting, Japie. It is said to have 20 min less. So maybe the long scenes Ry is talking about get trimmed. I'm not trading in though my 70 mm tix for the mortal ordinary viewing I like worldbuilding shots!
Saw it and I do not have anything to add spoiler free to what Ry said. It's a Tarantino movie. It's graphic, crudely hilarious, unorthodox in all the right places. If you don't like his style, you're probably going to hate this one as well. If you do then you'll probably enjoy the ride.
Walter Goggins: I adored him in Justified for years. He's just proven he can be brilliant on the big screen as well next to some pretty damn good actors and a Tarantino script. Sam Jackson is still as good as ever.

Ry, I'm telling you Justified is worth watching. Here's Goggins playing Boyd Crowder, a criminal with history, with his smartass mouth vs Raylan Givens, the US Marshal. Asking him for an apology in the lawman's office no less
Wew, TW! That got me goin' , damn. KK, sold out theater, in like cattle but we saw it the night after opening night (New Year's night).
Stuff I loved:
Spoiler
Kurt Russell. Just really enjoyed him. Bruce Dern - actually looked like Jackson was killing him with his words about his son (which I don't believe Jackson's character ever even met that son). Jennifer Jason Leigh- she was fantastic. We laughed our asses off when Kurt threw up in her face The "shut the damn door and use two boards" yelling, just cracked us up every time. Channing showing up under the floor! surprised the heck out of me.
Stuff I bitch about:
Spoiler
Samuel L. Jackson - alright I know I am going to catch about this but I am sick..to...death of him. He lied about everything (not that the other characters didn't as well) and I'm just done with him. I don't want to see him in Avengers or anything else, just saturated. I know it's QT and he always has Jackson but ugh. KK, enough. The ending sucked. Is Goggins' character really the new sherriff? We don't know. Does Jackson live? We don't know. And as in all QT movies, but this was beyond, too..much..talking. It was a loong movie and seems long when there is too much time in between the important moments. And, no cameo by QT
So 7 out of 10. I actually enjoyed Star Wars more. I can't believe that.

Sam Jackson's character lied about everything. The southern white dude's son, the bounty on his head, the Abe Lincoln's Letter. The last one felt such a betrayal. I had the same reaction as Kurt Russell! I thought that Walter Goggins really was the sheriff and he was probably the only one who told the truth
Didn't realize Channing Tatum was even in this movie until he popped from under the floorboards.
