So...I thought about opening this thread with a couple of things in mind:
-So we can share pics of the stuff we like to collect, be it keychains, postcards, stamps, ceramic frogs, whatever. People who don't like collecting things are more than welcome to comment as well, of course.
-As a figure collector, I like to review stuff, put them in silly poses and so on, I'd put it here for anyone who could be interested. I mostly collect kaijus and sci-fi critters, but it really depends on whether I consider something to be cool (and affordable).
When I lived in the US I had quite a nice collection of McFarlane toys when they used to be popular.
Mostly Terminator, Aliens and Predator stuff, but when I had to move back home I gave them away.
I regret doing that...but the new figure lines from companies like www.hottoys.com.hk/
make me wanna get back into it!
Make a nice diorama or glass case, argh! That would be so cool!

I had some McFarlane stuff years ago, Aliens and Predators, but all of them broke down on their own. No kidding, I saw one of my Xenos just crumble before my eyes. And it was just sitting there on its base. I was so royally pissed I considered to stop collecting, but then NECA came along, and I'm sticking with them to this day.
I do like other lines like Dark Horse, Figma and FiguArts, but I have fewer of those, as they're more expensive.
Hot Toys -Man, I'd love to get my hands on one of those, but the prices are a bit restrictive for me as of now. Maybe in the future! As they really look awesome. (I did save to get the MonsterArts Biollante, which costed me a whooping 250 dlls, but it was a one-off thing. The crown jewel of my collection, in terms of price tags anyway).

250 aint that bad....if you sell a lung, kidney and testicle. And do you *really* need a liver?
Donnie, you'd still have a testicle left along with one lung and one kidney! but no liver?!
I used to collect mugs or shot glasses from the places I'd visit. But I got too many and don't have the space. So I no longer do it, though still buy at least one thing as a memory be it a magnet, a keychain, something.
Mutavore followed me home today. The penultimate kaiju in the PR line, I'm still sad it ended before the rest of the kaijus could see the light of day.
Also, some cookies. Because they're delicious. Om nom nom.

Can you share a pic or two of your mugs or shot glasses? i'm genuinely curious. Plus, god(-zilla) knows this thread could use more variety than just my plastic figures

I don't really collect anything, Morgoth, although I do have some Star Wars stuff (mostly pez dispensers) and a few LoTR figures (I got the extended editions they offered with the figures included, my favorites being the Pillars of Argonath). I do have a bunch of rock memorabilia, but that's pretty much all sitting a closet, and mostly posters ( I ended up with a bunch of stuff through my old job). I think my favorite is a poster made for a Rolling Stones Halloween concert. My other favorite is from a series of shows Clapton did at the Fillmore, once of which was on my birthday. The Stones poster is pristine. The Clapton poster, well, that was on the wall of my old apartment, and like an idiot, I hung it with push-pins.
(These images were taken from a google search. That way, I didn't have to pull them all out of my closet and go through them to photograph them.)

The funny thing is that I was a big McFarline toys collector when they used to be the de-facto collectors item.
But I moved around a lot after college and packing up all my things and schlepping around became a pain so I gifted them to others. Of course I regret that now.
Hmmm, maybe time has come to start anew!

I ditched McF after all my figures from the brand died on me. My McFarlane Grid Alien literally crumbled to pieces on its own, right before my eyes -I was really pissed that day.
I switched to NECA then, and though I've had some problems with a handful of their figures, most of them turned out well. Quality-wise I prefer Bandai, though. Sometimes I wish this wasn't such an expensive hobby

Their quality was quite good when they started, but as their popularity grew, their quality dropped, now they are pretty much not talked about anymore.
