@BlackAsSnow: Without spoiling too much, the battle in the book is a lot more extensive, something on the same scale of the Lord Of The Rings. You should have a lot of fun reading that part in the book, the best part of book 2 for me.

I know, I read it too. However, it doesn't stop me from missing it and wishing we had it.

Si, es la verdad. It still seemed as if Cersei was behind a lot of the battle preparations on the HBO version, at least eluded to it, and in the book she's not.

Lyanna, I didn't see it that way at all. I thought Cersei and Joffrey were making some effort but had no clue what they were doing. (Which surprised me -- Cersei should be smarter than that.) I thought it was clear before the battle that Joffrey, and therefore Cersei, had no plan. I wondered why they didn't notice and act on Tyrion interference with their wildfire procurement. Wouldn't they at least have given orders to move the wildfire at some point, to discover Tyrion had taken over? In any case, it looked to me like Tyrion was the only one with a real plan, and I didn't know why others did not contribute more to the planning and leading various portions of whatever the plan was going to be.
It sounds like reading about the battle of Blackwater will be most enjoyable.
A woman would like to see some skirmishes in S3, not full-fledged battles but more hints of battle since the war continues. It will also be interesting that "Winter is Coming" at the same time that Spring is really coming in the USA. Odd, no?
I know there are budgetary issues to consider, but a few skirmishes or brief scenes of larger battles would be most welcome. Other than Blackwater, season 2 only talked about battles, but didn't show anything but their aftermath.
It's was done that way because 90% of the budget went into Blackwater. Depending on how and where they split the next two seasons they might just be able to do that.

I really, really really hope that they will add a scene where Tywin slaps Joffrey. I would just jump for joy.
We should add that to the drinking game! ANYONE slaps Joffrey: two shots and jump for joy. That boy doesn't get slapped anywhere near enough. Let's hope for lots of that next season. Actually, I hope they just kill him. Death by slapping wouldn't be a bad thing...
Years ago there was this game where you could beat up either George Bush or Osama Bin Laden, really wish they would make a GOT version, with Joffrey on one side and Linda on the other! Teeheehee!

Okay, let's not. I can think of plenty of other people as alternates in the slapping game. Theon would be a good candidate. It seems that some wouldn't mind throwing Ros in there as well.

A woman agrees with you, there could have been at least HINTS of skirmishes since this is supposed to be wartime and usually that means battle after battle after skirmish until a victory is at hand. Even that scene with King Robb waiting on the horses, then Grey Wind attacking the Lannisters, then seeing the aftermath of that battle was very effective without going overboard showing the entire fight. There are numerous ways to indicate that battles are still going on, so it will be interesting if they move the focus to the war activities more than to the behind the scenes plotting for S3. If you count Mance Raydar, they still have 5 kings so there has to be more battle activity.
Five? They're going to have to kill some kings this season! Preferably starting with Joffrey. That would be a terrific first episode if someone sliced off his head. Someone could whack Balon Greyjoy too. He looks so miserable sitting in his damp, crumbling tower, going on about the "iron price." Then his daughter (Yara?) could take up where he left off, so we could have a second woman clamoring for the throne.
Though a woman has read the books, it's so cool to know that they may change a few things around a little and that there will still be surprises even for the book readers. You never know what D&D have in mind for us!

I saw an interview with D&D where they said they were doing the HBO series on the ASOIAF series, and not necessarily book by book. So, it seems they are looking down the road to determine what can be kept, what is left out and what is going to be added later, i.e. Reeds, Rheagar, etc.

It's nice to think I'm not the only one here who will be in for some surprises. Of course, we're likely to be surprised by different things, but at least we'll all be in the same boat.
There are a few scenes with my favorite characters from the books I'd like to see, but otherwise a woman is really hoping to be surprised a few times this season. The dragon-napping in S2 was new and surprising, and it actually made a lot of sense in the context of getting Dany to the HOTU, so maybe there will be some surprises in S3 as well.

In a way I'm kind of glad they're rewriting much of Dany's story. I found it very tedious at times in the books and it keeps things new and fresh for me on TV.

I echo your sentiments, Ser Cary. I glossed over several of her pages because it was just lagging. I understand GRRM's detailing is for a purpose, but I don't see HBO taking that route.

Yes, we have little enough information on S3 to make a guess, but since it's just a guess a woman will guess episode 3. She needs more numbers in her support system and should waste no time in getting that help IMO.
Astapor and Yunkai could be combined, and something tells me they didn't cast Daario to have him in just one episode. Plus, this is the non-reader section, we're just joining the fun without trying to give too much away.
Saw this in tumblr today (here) and thought it could help us in our speculation of what's gonna happen when.

I don't know if ye've noticed but Sansa is wearing a very Lannister looking ring. Though being in episode 10 we'd have to presume the wedding already took place. Hopefully not in the previous episode. I don't particularly fancy the idea of the two weddings happening at the same time.

I really don't think that's a post-wedding ring. No offense, costume department, but it's hideous. I think it's just a sort of engagement ring? Although why would she have one now and not when she was engaged to Joffrey? I don't know, I simply don't find it possible for thhem to squeeze the Purple Wedding this season, not when they seem to space other things out. There is NO reason whatsoever for them to do that. A little detail that I've noticed is that Jaime still has his hand in ep. 3, although Brienne's photo suggests their fight is in ep. 2. So what I can speculate based on that - although is not much - is that Locke will keep them prisoners for a while before cutting off Jaime's hand. Now that is something I can't wait to see.

Spoiler
I think it's a wedding ring, and that's why she had none for joffrey. I don't think the PW would be this season either, I was just talking about her wedding to Tyrion, and saying I hope they don't delay THAT one to interlace the RW. Cause I'd hate that.
I love that thought, them having more time together before the hand is cut... aw... my babies!

New behind the scenes video about shooting in Iceland. You gotta see Tormund. He looks amazing. And Mance! His voice! *melts*

–Episode #21: Jon is brought before Mance Rayder, the King Beyond the Wall, while the Night’s Watch survivors retreat south. In King’s Landing, Tyrion asks for his reward, Littlefinger offers Sansa a way out, and Cersei hosts a dinner for the royal family. Arya runs into the Brotherhood Without Banners. Dany sails into Slaver’s Bay. (Written by David Benioff & D.B. Weiss; directed by Daniel Minahan)
What do you guys think?
Spoiler
To me, the phrasing makes it look like they're going to skip over the battle, showing only the aftermath and probably making us fear for Sam by not showing him at all.
Also that LF will either take Dontos' place or be the one who brokers the Tyrell marriage, none of which on paper i particularly like, but will give them the benefit of doubt. Plus it could be something else entirely.
For some reason I'm also thinking she'll get to meet Arstan already in Astapor. I've no evidence whatsoever to support this other than that way, they would spare a set.

Yeah I thought so too. Bit bummed about it actually, but I understand if they
Spoiler
skipped it for budget reasons and saving costs for something bigger later on. Aka the Red Wedding or the attack on the Wall.

ok... i know it's far fetched because at the end of S2 we saw them put Ros in Varys' entourage but what if...
Spoiler
Ros was to take Dontos place somehow? I just read this somewhere and got me thinking... it could be. cause i really hate the thought of no deception at all, LF all the way. The reveal has so much value! I didn't see it coming at all in the book...hmmm... if not her, who?

we've hardly seen shireen on the trailers but she appears to be blonde... am i the only one who's hoping this isn't so after the show made so much enphasys on "the [baratheon] seed is strong" = their descendants all have black hair? (please dont throw purist tomatoes at me)

Shireen IS blonde...............Fact. I was on set with her in the Dragonstone dungeon. It did not cross my mind at the time about the Baratheon seed thing, ( part time geek..). Well spotted Tir, that is sure to bug a lot of peeps.
