The Walking Dead will premiere it's third season in the autumn, on 14 October 2012. On 10 August , WD creator
Robert Kirkman confirmed that S3 will be split into two halves with the first 8 episodes set for autumn '12 and the
other e episodes set to air in early spring 2013.
By now everyone is aware of how intense this series is to view and read. In this thread we're posting about the
series but SPOILERS are allowed it referenced, same for other incidental FACTOIDS and RUMORS. (mod note: Please add spoilers from the comic in spoiler tags)
At the end of S2 we paid a sad farewell to mortally wounded Dale ( actor Jeffrey DeMunn ) and Rick ( Andrew Lincoln)
's partner and mate turned zombie Shane ( Jon Bernthal ). With the help of Carl shooting reanimated Shane, Rick
and son narrowly escape a herd of zombie walkers heading towards Herschel's farm. As Rick and Carl take refuge in
the barn and the entire group at risk of being overrun, all head to vehicles rescue Rick and Carl to head to safety.
They meet back at the road of unmoved traffic to shake off their grief and search for a refuge. Later on a frustrated
Rick declares that their democratic safety is behind them and that they're all infected with the virus ( per the CDC
Dr. Jenner ) whispered to him at S1 final scene. The last moments of S2 sends a wide angle shot of a large prison
unknowingly in the near distance. Unaware of all of this , Andrea whom became separated by the group taking
exodus is on foot and holding her own until new cast member Michonne ( Donai Gurira ) saves her. There is much
speculation that the script will sync more with the comic books but, well you know how that goes .
What are your thoughts ? Anyone missing Shane ? Dale ? Does Carol and Darryl have a thing ? And where the hell
is Merle from S1 ? Is Lori still pregnant and is it Ricks ? Why is T-Dog called that ? Did anyone think to bring food ?
Did Glenn forget the condoms ? WTF ! Travelling without gear or gasoline syndrome ? Think Herschl is a changed man?

Merle has probably taken up with the Governor the bad guy from season 3. If you have not read the novel Rise of the Governor do so! It's bloody fantastic! He's basically a half mad guy that cobbles together the first post apocolyptic society with him as dictator. He is friggen evil! also just for intrests sake did you guys know in the comics Carl shot Shane and Rick killed Zombie SHane? This happened very early in the scene where Shane points his gun at Rick.

So apparently another cast regular is going to die this season. I think it's Lory seeing as she is universally unpopular, as well as dying quite early in the series and she has stated somewhere that she thinks it's essential to Rick's character that she dies.

I think so yes, and I too hate her.

The show plays it fast and loose with the source material. Shane died very early in the comic book, but almost made it through the whole second season.

I know, but her recent statements make me think her time is up. BTW do you guys know why Dale died last season? It wasn't the plan when the season started filming.

Frank Darabont the original showrunner is a good friend of the guy who played Dale ( he is in almost all of Darabonts movies )
so when Darabont was replaced, he was no longer interested in being on the show.

Well he was at first, when Darabont was replaced the cast were told to keep their mouths shut or they would be written off. Then Dale asked to be written out, but later changed his mind. However it was too late. Still miss Darabont.

I also have the comics but haven't finished them. I wonder if they are gonna go that same route with the baby. BTW Activision the guys who make Call of Duty are making a First Person Walking Dead game starring Daryll and Merle DIxon as they make their way to Atlanta.

I haven't read the comics so this is one show I'm taking on it's merits for screen writing and cast. I do not believe I will be hampered in any way because of this, also no differentiating to do.
Reminiscing of last years season split, I was left with angst while waiting but satisfied end the end. I was also reading ASOIAF books, so I'm not so sure I'll tolerate the wait as well as then.
Well Walking Dead has more episodes every year so we will be getting several more before the midseason hiatus. If this continues we will have a rather long series next year. This one is already almost twice as long as GOT.

Yeah Bicycle girl was better but this was a good introduction to this season's theme. Sure the Dead are scary, but the living are far scarier and more evil!

I believe there were more episodes in season 2, than in season 1. Are you saying a precedent has been set
to film even more for season 3 ? I haven't been keeping up with the extraneous promo stuff as you guys have.
Season 1 had a paltry 8 episodes. If I am correct season 2 had almost triple that, but I thought it ran a bit overlong, the stuff on the farm didn't quite have the energy I liked. Season had a great opening, midpoint and ending. Hope they make season 3 flow better.

Not too much of her n that episode. But man she is quite badass! What a ending, do we trust formerly convicted felons? Or does it not count in the new world? Ah so many questions. Will Herschell die? Or was the axe enough? So glad I read the comics, we are in for one helluva ride!

bandages
.
Aegon you finished reading the comic?
Little Michone, but Michone enough. I like her relationship with Andrea. And I hate Lorie... don´t you?

YEs we all hate Lorie, there's no way she won't die this season. In fact the actress said she hopes Laurie dies soon, it's a pivotal moment for RIck and essential to his storyline. Nope I read just enough to stay ahead of the tv series. But I own all of them.

Let's try again! Have not watched it in a coon's age but think I picked the wrong time to start watching again! How sad! The mom and the T-guy both die, how awful. Yeah, I know, it's a zombie show. People are going to die. Think it was a stretch to have the kid shoot his own mother though, jeez!
