BTW I wish I could get my hands in that version of the music.

I like it! It's not GOT, and it doesn't have me at the edge of the seat, but it's relaxing and entretaining. And I think the acting is an absolute joy to watch. (Except for that episode with the guy who was passing off as somebody else).
I wish they would take a little more time to develp the stories though, sometimes they seem too rushed. But hey! Some people love it for its quick resolution. No need to wait much to find out what happens. So, idk.

What are all those people doing in my house ! I won't stand for it, where is my kingsguard ?
Did I see Shirley MacLaine in a British production ? I've never seen the show but hear much talk about it. I'm not a constant TV viewer but when I do it's gotta be worth breaking up my reading cycle for. I may catch an episode or 2 to get a perspective all the same. I do like period dramas and adore Masterpiece Theatre but soap operas of the royals tend to rub me the wrong way. Maggie Smith however peaks my curiosity. Still, dame Judy Dench wasn't enough for me to cross over in that cable series she starred in.

I think you'll love it. And Maggie Smith is FABULOUS. And she and I share the same birthday.

Ugh, such a cheesy trailer. *sigh* Yeah, I'm gonna wach S3 as well... But just for Edith. And Bates & Anna. And Mrs. Hughes. And O'Brien, because she cracks me up.
I just wished they'd drag some of the stories more, it's like Tir said, instant gratification. Dog is lost, dog is found. Maid wants a job as a secretary, maid gets job as a secretary.
Yes, last season wasn´t the best but I don´t care. I love the actors. Especially Brendan Coyle. He´s a genius. His character is so difficult. It´s always on the verge of becoming a caricature or stereotype. Only a great actor like Brendan Coyle can make Mr. Bates believable. Love him.

Watched it last night, enjoyed it very much, except for Shirley McLaine. Loved her dialogue, didn't like the delivery one bit. Compared to the superb Maggie Smith, her performance had a wiff of naphtaleene, imo.

Watched it last night as well. I expected to like Shirley McLaine more in the role, but didn't. I'm still not keen on Julian Fellows' writing, but like I said I'll stick with the show, I love the actors too much. Did I imagined it or was there a quick glance between O'Brien and the butler that serves Matthew (forgot his name)?
Edit: Lol, had to share this Simon Pegg tweet.
"What if she Pamuk's me?!" Matthew Crawley's inner monologue, night of wedding to Lady Mary, Downton Abbey, 1920."

Great one, Macha.

Oh, I loved this episode more than the last, and giggled and guffawed numerous times. Maggie Smith deserved that Best Supporting Actress award, and she should win again.

last episode was great! Maggie Smith and Shirley McLaine´s song to her was funny. Affair between Moslesley and O´Bryen in sighting too. They´re in the same house now. Proper. And my dear Mr Bates: "Don´t ever threaten me" such a sweetie.

I fear for Edith. The duel of words between Tom and O´Brien amuse me . And Molesley... he should put one shoe in his mouth. Why is he always so anxious?
Oh Lady Mary dresses...

Edith, my baby, Julian Fellows must really hate you. But I love you to bits. Mary's dresses are exquisite indeed, and she has a lovely figure and a wonderful skin, so everything looks great on her. I hate her character with a passion though. Molesley cracks me up! Thomas and O'Brien are a golden "couple" and they work even better when they're at odds than when they're partners in crime. And how sweet was Mr. Carson in his last scene? The servants are all wonderfull, if they could do a show just with them I wouldn't mind.
Poor, poor Edith. I really feel for her, sad ugly thing that she is.
wash your serious mouth Mister!

Even though I understand her, I hate Mary with a passion and her spineless wuss of a husband. And poor Edith! Why do the authors always always shan on her? C'm on! Give the girl a break!
PS It seems I'm the only one who dislikes the fashion of that period. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I really liked this last episode. Oh Edith´s letters... you´re my hero girl. WHO KNEW???
Cheap cheap soup opera trick for Mr Bates and Anna... I mean, , really? but I love those two so much
Thomas you lover boy. Maggie Smith is gold.
And Ethel, poor baby
The conflict between the Earl and Matthew regarding the administration of the abbey is getting interesting.

I loved Thomas in this. That smirk on his face was priceless. Gods, Julian Fellows really hates Daisy, doesn't he? The problem with this show is that it really doesn't make you fear for the fate of any of the characters. We all know Bates is gonna make it out of there, we all know Matthew will put Downton to rights (and have a baby with Mary), we all bloody knew that Branson and Sybill are in no real danger. And can someone die already? I need drama.
Loved the last episode. Was cheering for Edith all the way through. I bet my brain cells looked like
And the letters things... aww...
Agree with Macha, though. I want some drama to happen.

it´s a fancy soap opera girls, the abuse of drama is not allowed. It´s early S.XX in England, no space for more drama or gore, for that you already have Got. Vicious you. We need to keep it subtle, please.
