have u guys read the ragnarök theories? They're pretty interesting

I have, way back when he started posting them at westeros. I loved them initially, now I'm not so sure simply because many of them seem a little bit forced. Some dots just don't connect no matter how hard you try to make them, and sometimes I think he's trying too hard.

BUT I am a big fan of his initial Jaime vs Bran theory. I don't necessarily see it happening, but if it did I would love for the roles to change and to have another "face off" of some sort where Bran is on the side of "evil" and Jaime is on the good side, if you can even call it that. The connection he makes to Fenrir and Tyr are quite good.

And the one I'm really, really loving is the connection he made between Bran & Bloodraven and Fenrir & Loki, and the idea that Loki will break free at the beginning of Ragnarok, because it's just very much in line to what I think BR's purpose really is. Other than that, I think he's reaching most of the time but yeah, it's great fun to read if you have a few hours minutes to kill.

I don't think that Martin is trying to rewrite his own take on the Ragnarök saga, but I do think that there's too many coincidences to deny he drew some inspiration from it. I think that's why some things seem to fit so well and other seem so forced. Cause it's more an inspiration source than a roadmap.

The Bran-BR thing seems too spot on, given how the characters are going, the Sansa thing also seems to fit very well (dunno about the future, but about what's happened so far), and I particularly like the whole Bran-BR-Jaime connection, it seems too juicy not to at least toy around with it a little. Just imagine how great it'd be if by the end, no matter how much we love Bran, we end up thinking, "man, i'd been better if the fall had killed him." And a second confrontation between Bran and Jaime in role reversal to come full circle makes me weak at the knees to be honest. Also, Jon as Sutr... well, i really like it. I've always had the pet theory that the wall would come down before the end, and if Jon was the one to bring that about with Mel... Also like the speculation about Sam's possible future role.

Yup, I agree Tir. Martin definitely drew some inspiration from it, but I'm not convinced the characters are destined to end up in the same way as their mythological counter-parts. But I agree 100% on what you said about Bran, maybe because I just can't get Bran as Anakin out of my system.
I don't know about Jon though. It would seem too much for both of them to end up on the "wrong" side from where they're supposed to be. So it's hard for me to pin Jon down just yet. The Wall is definitely going down though. As for who would be leading the WW, for me it's either Bran & BR, or BR alone, or BR and Benjen, or Benjen alone. (That's because I don't buy the "Benjen is out there playing spy in the Lands of always winter yadda yadda". And he's not dead. So, as much as I love him, he can only be the bad guy. It would also add extra drama for Jon and Bejen to end up on opposite sides, but this is also true for Jon and Bran.)
His Sam theory is pretty neat too (especially the huntsman detail), and also Lord Frey. Heh. Maybe even Tyrion.
Sansa - dunno, wasn't too convinced about that. Cersei, Margaery, Dany - they all seemed like a stretch to me.

Loved reading these.Makes my own theory that The Long Winter is a cleansing by the CoF using magic and the Walkers sound more realistic. Hadn`t considered that the dragons could join in as well.....
So if Tommen is Vidarr, how do you think that might play out at the end of things?

You see, that's one of the parts I'm not on convinced about. The analogies made seemed too forced to me in Tommen's case. But what do I know?

Have u guys heard of the Stannis as the new Night's King theory? idk if the night's king story is meant as foreshadowing or not, but if it was, my biggest beef with it is that the NK being a Stark stands out too much not to be significant in such scenerio.

(carefull with the link though, twow spoilers)

Hehe, I remember when I thought Coldhands was the Night's King, before the show debunked that.

Here, this one is just for the lolz, before I go to bed. Felt fresh though

What's the fastest route from Slaver's Bay to Westeros?

  • The Smoking Sea.

What's in the Smoking Sea?

  • Smoke and salt, of course.

What else is in the Smoking Sea?

  • Brightroar, a super badass Valyrian sword that was plunged into the water.

Why hasn't it been recovered?

  • Most sailors fear the Smoking Sea and avoid it.

Who are the bravest sailors in the world?

  • The Ironborn.

Where are they?

  • On their way to pick up Dany and take her back to Westeros.

Would Victarion want to prove that he's Euron's equal by sailing the Smoking Sea?

  • You bet.

Will Dany be keen to take a shortcut to get there faster when she hears that a fake Targaryen is stealing her birthright?

  • Absolutely.

Who did Dany promise to give a super badass Valyrian sword to as soon as she has one?

  • Jorah.

Who captured a lion?

  • Jorah.

Who loves a woman more deeply and passionately than anyone else in the series?

  • Jorah.

Who's going mad and may have to be killed by someone in her inner circle?

  • Daenerys.

What character could be killed to give a sword maximum power against the Others?

  • Daenerys.

What's the worst thing GRRM could do to Jorah?

  • Make him kill Daenerys.

What is now branded into Jorah's face?

  • A demon mask.

Brightroar is done being tempered in the water.

It will be pulled from the smoke and salt and presented to Demon Jorah.

He will kill Daenerys in the most powerful act of blood magic possible.

When he removes the sword, it will be covered in fire and blood.

He will take the black, as was his father's dying wish.

He will be the 1000th Lord Commander.

He will drive back the darkness.

Demon Jorah is Azor Ahai reborn.

High Sparrow = Howland Reed. There is a theory over at the Ice and Fire forums with four different versions by now. Guy gives some interesting textual evidence, but also arguments against.

If this is true, the shit's about to hit the ceiling in KL.

I like the Demon Jorah as Azhor Ahai. If he is to be the 1000th LC then what, since then, is presumably become of Jon (if he is alive/ comes back?) WIll Jon become so dissillusioned by his true heritage that he turns against Westeros and becomes the new Night's King? New crackpot, but it makes me think of that story of an old LC who went on a ranging with 12 companions and never came back. Presumably the white walkers made some sort of pact with him because he was a Stark, giving him some twisted sort of blessing of immortality (like Coldhands, who is Benjen or not) because he was a Stark. Maybe the same will happen with Jon. He will set out to fight the great other (the Night's King), defeat him, but then replace him.

Aaaaand in the cycle "crackpot theories where Macha might take away my three golden dragons" because it looks like she's got it covered here's a little something I came accross last night in the much hated and badly written, super boring yet sometimes quite interesting (where probably Martin typed things!) TWoIaF:

Finally, driven by desperation, the little people turned to sorcery and beseeched their greenseers to stem the tide of these invaders. And so they did, gathering in their hundreds (some say on the Isle of Faces), and calling on their old gods with song and prayer and grisly sacrifice (a thousand captive men were fed to the weirwood, one version of the tale goes, whilst another claims the children used the blood of their own young)

Blood magic done by greenseers previously!!! As Macha suspected freakout

Here is a good one, so in the Pooks, Ser Gregors head is shipped to Dorne as proof of his death.
Now peeps are wondering, what is then on top of Ser Robert Stong's hulking body?

They say it's either Robert Baratheons, or get this Robb Stark ( who's head was removed after RW)

So chew on that bit of craziness!

I had fun reading this stuff before but this time I'm laughing something fierce! The same shampoo and conditioner!

Meera's description in the book of brown hair and a slim build reminds you of Arya's, and Arya is also said to look like Jon.

The problem that always showed up with Meera's description is that everyone who pushes the crackpot, leaves out conveniently the eyes. Martin would have never made them straight out green. And as much as he likes the breadcrumb trails, he probably at some point mentioned Meera reminds Bran of Arya too. (loves family and friends, loyal and very feisty), so I wouldn't put too much in this one. Plus Martin is not a fan of SW.

Crackpot theories for season 6:

- Jon's body disappears after episode 1, he comes back to save the day in the big battle of episode 9.
- The big battle of Episode 9 will have the Starks win back winterfell, but good and bad guys die...Roose Bolton dies...Ramsay escapes because the show needs a bad guy.
- Dany intimidates the Dothraki with her dragon and sets sail to Westeros finally.
- Tyrion trains Viserion and Rheagal.
- CLEGANEBOWL MOTHERFUCKERS!

-Ian McShane is really a recast Tommen. They wanted some gravitas for the role
-Bloodraven is actually a White Walker stooge

-Orell the bird flies Jon's body down to Thoros who is drunk but not drunk enough to bring Jon back to life in the riverlands.
-Red Wedding 2.0 is when Sansa kills everyone by herself using the weirding way from Dune
-Rickon = Night's King. Him and Shaggydog devour the countryside.
-The Blackfish parlays with Jamie like in the books except at the end zombie Jon cuts his other hand off
-Nothing matters anyway as the white walkers kill 99% of the on screen characters, thus validating that little stupid plot crap like the faith militant is 100% irrelevant
-CLEGANEBOWL GET HYPE

Okay , so the wolves names meaning something . . Summer for bran Lady for Sansa etc . Well I always thought Shaggy dog was because he was going wild in Skagos . . But now I see its because he's part of a shaggy dog story .
Also my egg theory is now Dany , Tyrion and Jon . Colors and positioning on funeral pyre 😊

So in the last episode they hinted that Bran can somehow communicate with the past. Some say that Bran will try to communicate with the mad king to avoid the war. But his whispers are the very thing that drives the king mad. Hmmmm .

Really nice! But that would imply too many scenes to build up his madness, me thinks. Maybe he should just tell his past self not to climb that tower. :p

Now after the "Door" episode, can we expect Meera and Bran to go to Greywater Watch? They have to go somewhere, it'd be cool if that is where they go. I know Bran can go anywhere now but say they go there and Howland Reed is there and Jon shows up to rally support for the Northern Army. Not totally sure about this theory but, it sounds good since this "Door" episode.

I always hoped Bran will meet Howland! Bran's got no "in" at ToJ to see what happened inside in the books and Martin did say long ago Howland will make an appearance. It would be cool.

Given I'm guesing something really bad will happen to the High Sparrow in the season finale, my crackpot theory may be put to rest. I've never liked the High Sparrow=Howland Reed idea. Maybe it's because my first introduction to it was by those who treated it as fact. Anyway, I decided to come up with an alternate idea as to the identity of the High Sparrow. I decided he was a heretofore unknown Reyne. My thought is unbeknownst to the Lannisters, a Reyne boy was sent off to study to become a septon, so escaped the fate of the rest of the Reynes. Learning of what Tywin did to his family, he vowed revenge.

I just thought one way Lady Stoneheart can make it in the show now.

In the pooks I always thought it was weird that Beric "gave his life force" to Catelyn, the show can simply omit that and have Thoros revive her. That way both Beric and Cat are alive.

But at this point it seems 90% likely that LSH won't happen anymore, but that 10% tho.....

That is a cool theory, Nym. Tho I think that of there was any secret to his identity, it would have been revealed ny now, like when he inflicted maximum damage. Now his days/episodes are numbered.

Don LS is cut, by now there'd probably just be bones in the river not something you can revive and besides... it's been three seasons, with every interview confirming again abd again she's not part of the show. There are no 10%. The moment Berric and thoros showed up, killing the BWB guy, LS's last chance was squashed.

Thanks, I liked it.  :)  I'm sure you're right, and it isn't something I ever really expected to be the case.

Who knows, though, it may still be revealed in the books.  ;)
