Rhaegar, despite wounding Robert, was struck down with a massive blow from Robert's warhammer, which scattered the rubies encrusted in Rhaegar's armor under the water. Rhaegar died with Lyanna Stark's name on his lips.
The tower of Joy fight scene analyzed by an expert in medieval sword combat. I found it fascinating, and his thoughts are surprising. And I take his word a lot more seriously, compared to Linda who doesn't know jack shit.

I saw that analysis of ToJ while browsing for the scene on youtube. He's such a nerd but he makes excellent points about how they went for the unprotected openings in the armor, the thrust of the swords vs the slash, and what else, something about dual wielding sword existing in Italy 14th or 15th century, but not widespread. Oh, and I didn't realize until he pointed out that Stark & friends had actually chainmail underneath the leather and plated armor on top. They were not quite so lightly dressed, as I assumed.
Ouch, that hurt. He said Jaime and the Sand Snakes fights. I kind of see where he is coming from though. NWC doesn't have the skills this Luke Roberts seems to have and while I like his acting he sure is no fighter. And if I were to choose between Jaime/Bri or The Hound/Bri fights, even to my untrained eye I'd think the latter is better made.
You know I just watched the SW lightsaber ToJ scene and I gotta say, kinda annoyed that Arthur Dayne didn't go sword to sword with Ned once he evened the odds. Not saying Dayne didnt do the right thing there, he just didnt do the honorable thing and maybe could have dropped or sheathed one of his Morning swords. Kinda glad he got fucked in the back. Two swords. Lol.
