Which is bullshit because it's GRRM's marketing platform and one of the co-author's STILL hasn't read the last 1/3 of ASOS. Whatever.
This will never not be funny to me.
Well I'm just gona come out and say it, I don't give a toad's fart about a World of Ice and Fire or basically anything else that doesn't tell me how do these books end. I'm a simpleton.
Surprised that you're not all banned, ostracized and outcasted for daring these posts. You naughty people who don't believe in the holy light of TWOW printed one day !

In this (presumably) recent interview, Mr. Martin says he's about 1/4 done with TWOW. Hmmm ... 1/4 done in two years? Do the math and TWOW is six years from completion. Of course, that doesn't factor in all those chapters that were moved from ADWD to TWOW. 12 years? This is oversimplification, of course. Mr. Martin could buckle down, set his nose to the grindstone, burn the midnight oil with a candle at both ends while gathering no moss and get this sucker out in two years.

WHAT? a ¼ done? Unbelievable! I don't want to even think about what that man must do all day if he's not writing .

Sorry, Ry. Just a gift book with a collection of Tyrion witticisms. One step up from a desk calendar. Pass. Speaking of things to be out in time for Christmas:
Anybody here pre-order The Official History of Westeros? I haven't (and won't), but who am I to judge those eager to possess this coffee table book. I really see the appeal and am curious as to others' impressions. I guess I'll have to be patient, though.
Because its release has been delayed.

As mentioned, the reading is from the upcoming The World of Ice and Fire book. Recently, this was reported as being delayed till Fall 2014. George said it would be out "next spring." Grain of Salt . . .
For this book, he was supposed to write 50,000 words - he wrote 250,000. The extras have been put in a file for a project they are now calling the "GRRM - arillion." Way down the road. (...) The Princess and the Queen is a tale of the Dance of the Dragons that will appear in the anthology Dangerous Women. He turned in 80,000 words, which was edited down to 30,000.
He would like to do 5 or 6 more Dunk and Egg stories. The first 3 are to be released as a collection next spring.
Atreyu - yeah, I've heard the same thing about the next D&E and TWoW. Curiously, this didn't stop him to write that story for Dangerous Women, which apparently is just an extended account of something already described in The World of Ice and Fire. *le eyeroll*

Uhm yeah that book should have been done in 2006 or so, so you have some perspective on how long it took him to write those words. And it shows you how focused he is on the actual story of aSoIaF. Instead of writing the next book, he goes on dribbling similar stories from three different perspectives noone fucking cares about.
More news from the Con, a little Wert told me that The She-Wolves of Winterfell will not be see until after TWOW is finished. This is the Dunk and Egg story that was supposedly close to completion in October 2012.

Like anyone gives a sweet fuck about when the next book coming out ...
... not THAT piece of garbage, but TWOW ... rumors and whispers from a (relatively) reliable source (Adam Whitehead) point to a 2015 or 2016 release.
absolute douche. Le Gordo has no shame.

Yeah, I remember A. Whitehead saying that at WiC, that apparently international publishers know not to expect the book before 2016. Phhhft, are we really surprised by this? One more reason to start watching the show, Atreyu. If nothing goes terribly wrong, at least they'll provide an ending.
so, won´t open a thread for this because but this stinky pile of shit needs some room, somewhere. His new book The wit and wisdom of Tyrion Lannister, I like to call it "his new book" although is not a book and there was nothing to write. I like that it shows how awful the man is. Cashing his ass off out of this... did I say stinky pile of shit
At least there´s a sad drawing here, other pages has nothing more than one line. Did I already?

The Wit and Wisdom of Tyrion Lannister has been out for a bit, sales numbers are not in yet, but it's getting killed on Amazon for being kitsch.
Dangerous Women is coming out on the 9th of December. I have one of these anthologies around here somewhere (with GRRM autographed bookmark!); it included the first Dunk and Egg and the book was chock-full of good stuff.
Also, GRRM offered up a bunch of stuff for a charity auction. It's over now. Sorry I didn't get the news out sooner for you lovelies so you could have the joy of spending 760 TAINT-SNORKELING DOLLARS on a set of personalized ASOIAF hardbacks, but I checked my cupboard and I am fresh out of fucks.

Jane Johnson is one of Martin's publishers, her original tweet has been deleted. Also, any discussion of this revelation at the official GURMsite, Westeros (home of the official rape-fantasy fulfilling MUSH: Blood of Dragons) is verboten! Don't even think about it!
Years. Away. Show of hands from anyone who is surprised.

Secretly, in my little naively optimistic corner of the world in the wee hours of the morning, I hope everyone is wrong and he has a surprise for us in early 2015.
She deleted that last tweet, btw. Just so you know. It's not their "official" position.
I know. I know. Still, from what I understand, Ms. Johnson is pretty high up the food chain. While she may not be intimately aware of GRRM's "progress" or "work ethic", it's a sign. A sign that points to UTTER DOOM for book readers. Mwahahahahaha!

I think it is surprising how one can still hold hope against all evidence and track record GRRM has. But I, like Mr. Snow still had it (deep, deep down). I chalk it up to "hope it's a bitch, but it dies last" theory. Fact is I still have it. Damn it GRRM! Just finish the damn book!
Someone says they have it from someone else who might possibly know about these things that a release date for TWOW will be announced by the end of the month. I don't believe it for a moment and one or both of these folks is full of shit. In the unlikely event that this is true, YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!

Not sure if this is the right thread but FYI: they have just released today on a WOIAF app the Tyrion chapter Martin's been reading at Cons. I cannot believe how much I've missed the Halfimp!

Why is he even bothering to write the books anymore? He can just keep releasing chapters until he's done.

He's not. Most of the preview chapters released so far are most likely stuff that was cut out of ADwD.
Truth. This Tyrion chapter has been around for a bit. He's been reading from it at Cons for quite some time but hasn't released it in any kind of format until now. Since his editor said the battle of Mayonnaise was moved from ADWD due to the length of that book, this chapter is old.
Of course, there is always the possibility that Anne Groell told a big, fat lie and the reason it was "moved" is because the chapter was unpublishable at the time. Honestly, there is so much filler in ADWD it boggles the mind that they couldn't make room for it.

It was a good chapter, to think I finally get to see
Spoiler
the dragons from Tyrion's POV.
. I got all giddy with excitement! I cannot wait to see your faces when the book will be a complete success mwahahah! I'm just kidding people. Me & Al, that's who I'm counting on.
Nah, by "far" too many times "far"s for you Atreyu,
Spoiler
too many throwback memories of Green Fork, Blackwater, his murdering people and eventually fear of not being worthy of redemption. Tyrion cannot possibly think of all that!
I shall safely assume it won't pass muster with you. Kind of looking forward to see what you say, really. I haven't been in a discussion about a chapter in far too long. (ha! far, no kidding)
