As some of you might now, I did some work out of town last Friday, and I wanted to share a couple of pictures.  I took these at the continental divide, meaning that all water to the east (right) flows to the Gulf of Mexico and all water to the west (left) flows to the Pacific Ocean.  The first pic is looking towards the mesas on the Navajo Nation.  And yes, there's snow.  This area is 7300 ft elevation (2200m) and is bitterly cold in the winter.

The second pic is the ruins of a hogan, a traditional Navajo house found in this area of the state.  The entryway faces to the east to welcome the new day as the sun rises each morning.

This morning, they closed the freeway heading east starting from my work exit in the middle of Albuquerque to Texas because of snow.  And yes, some parts east of here are going to get walloped...as much as two feet (60cm), they're saying.  Here's our awful weather.
