Two feathers, that's pretty. I used to study the font in the books as a teenager, and I write birthday cards and that in elvish font. A friend of mine has a tattoo in elvish on her foot.

I used to be able to speak elvish. Now I've forgotten.

Picture the scene ... you're at work (in a shop ) at the front of the store you hear deep singing ... you think that sounds a bit like Rains ... then you think no wait it the song from the Hobbit ... cool...
Then you realise it's just the start and it's on a loop !!
They were advertising a home cinema centre ... I now never want to hear that song again ! Thank you Metro Centre management !!!
And again today

I know enough elvish to charm a lady elf if I should meet one. As you know Mags and Tir, elvish is phonetic. Impress your loved one today........
Vanimle sila tiri...........Your beauty shines bright.
Amin mela lie..............I love you
A`maelamin................My beloved
Mela en`coiamin.........Love of my life
Atta feas vee`er.........Two spirits as one
Quel amrun.................Good morning
Quel re........................Good day.
Oh, TF, the memories! I had even made myself a giant elvish dictionary... aw... txs x this.

Thanks Two Feathers, it's really pretty! If I had a loved one I'd definitely try to impress him that way, if he was a geek and appreciated it of course! But alas, haven't been stolen yet.

Awww! Mags....Babe............Thats kinda sad. The wildlings say, a good time for a man to steal a woman, is when The Thief is in The Moonmaid........I think Dec 21st 2012 will see that alignment. So you may get something in your stockings this year.
Macha, haha! Oh well.
Two Feathers, I shall be looking out for that then :) I am going out for coffee next week, so that's something to look forward to.

Not directly Hobbit related, but still LotR. I briefly studied the old elvish language Quenya, used by the High Elves. I managed to learn the Quenya Tengwar(alphabet), and the correct placement of vowels and punctuation. So, although I can not write the elvish language, I can write english words and sentences using the Quenya style and alphabet. To demonstrate I have taken seven user names from this thread. Apologies to those not chosen, but I could only fit seven on the page. I will consider requests though. The font is one I am like, I can also do a similar font to that used on the One Ring. 1. Macha 2.Wild Seed 3.Andrea 4.Lyanna Stark 5.YvyB....... I have written your full name Yvs, as your user name is rather short.........:) 6.Rygar 7.Aegon the Conqueror.
Oh my Godswood, Feathers, this is totally awesome, you rock!

So I saw this trailer before Skyfall and I think I am actually starting to like Armitage as Thorin. He looks and sounds badass and I think he is gonna be great. Freeman is going to own the role of Bilbo. Oscar nom.

I think the Academy was pressured to give all the awards to RotK. AND i agree. The Hobbit will not receive as much with all the great films out this year.

Just back from the cinema, still soaking it in. The Hobbit is bloody brilliant. Saw it in 3D, and like Mags said it totally sucks you into Middle Earth. And what a joy to be back there. I went in with relatively low expectations because of some negative vibes given off by the critics, but within half an hour I was in geek heaven. See it soon!
Saw it Saturday, not in 3D, it was sold out, sorry your Grace. Richard Armitage as Thorin I thought was awesome, loved when he sang. Fili is my fav Dwarf (Dean O'Gorman), liked him very much. The scenes that show the gold were awesome, using that word a lot about this movie. Fav scene was the last scene with the Goblin King, my hardest laugh of the movie.
