hey! I didn´t watch this! WHY? I think you´ll love Raining stones and probably Tir too.

well, apparently this is my residence thread. Watched this movie: "Take Shelter" (2011) directed and written by Jeff Nichols, don´t really know this guy. The movie is not easy to watch in terms of rhythm, timing whatever you call it. I´ts very slow. I don´t mind this kind of slow because the ACTING is. All of them, (not much), are great but Michael Shannon is a beast, such an amazing actor, maybe the best I saw in decades. Jessica Chastain and Kathy Baker are also gems.
The final scene .

he probably wrote the screenplay? I don´t remember and I´m too lazy to look. Nop, not bad looking AT ALL
Go see Lone Star first or whatever. You´d love him.
WUT? Taviani brothers? how you didn´t say something? Did you see Kaos? Adaptation from several Pirandello´s stories. Beauty beauty beauty. I watched that movie like 100 times. One of my all time favorites.

did I said something about John Sayles already? Because I love this man. He works as a screenwriter so you might find him in some crappy movie. But remember I said he "works". So, from time to time he writes what he really wants and make wonderful little movies like:
Lone Star (the way he worked with genre here it´s amazing)
and many more but it´s not easy for me here to watch all his movies.

This little movie made my morning. It's called The Green Butchers and it's an independent Danish movie. Really dark humor and Mads Mikkelsen with a creepy hairdo. You can find the trailer here, and the full movie with english subtitles uploaded on youtube.

Peter Capaldi, I want to do bad unforeseeable things with you. Fuckity brilliant.
That is one of the most insane movies I've ever seen. No words to describe it. My jaw hurts, I cried laughing like a madwoman - and I rarely laugh at comedies. I can't believe this script actually exists, and the delivery is simply....wow. Watch this. Watch this NOW.
When I first saw this movie it was my lifegoal to let as much other people see its brilliance. I apologise for not mentioning it earlier and forgetting about my mission.
"Climbing the mountain of conflict"? You sounded like a Nazi Julie Andrews!
This is a Russian movie, based I think on a Slavic folk tale. It is promoted as LotR meets Conan the Barbarian. ....Its not really. It does not have a " Hollywood" feel to it at all, which I think is refreshing. You can watch it on youtube, but it just has a Spanish dub on there. I just bought the English version dvd on ebay for £3.50. Has some good action and the FX are pretty good.
Jagten (The Hunt). A great, great movie. I don't want to put the trailer here because it makes it look like a thriller, which is not. It's a Danish drama about lies people choose to believe, and a great study in mob mentality. I don't know if it'll be screened that much outside of Europe, but I highly recommend it to everyone.
The Way, lovely movie about a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella from Emilio Estevez, yes the dude from the Breakfast Club. And no, is not a fullblown religion movie. Has my favourite dutch actor Yorick van Wageningen in it, didn't even know that beforehand. Great filming, acting, music, nice story.
There's a movie i love but it's still hidden as a secret, a "Real blonde" by Tom Di Cillo , it's major actor is Matthew Modine. Dinklage is also hilarious in Living in Oblivion by Di Cillo where he plays a" David Lynch approved of " dwarf. And there's Steve Buscemi in it ! Great stuff...

just watched The Hunt, talking about natural movies with less dialogues that I like. Great acting and like all the Dogma movies, obsessed with communities. Formally very good movie. Something is bothering me tho... my almost non existing feminist is squirming inside my brain... what about women in this movie... bunch of non existing bitches... not even dogs love us. Kirsten! woof!

too lazy to look if I talked about this movie already so: "Night on earth" by the amazing Jim Jarmusch.
And Tom Waits all over the place. This beautiful waltz: "When I was a boy the moon was a pearl, the sun a yellow dog..." The title is Good old world
songs starts 3:40

I heard about this one but forgot to watch. Such a beautiful documentary. Herzog said "We´re locked in history, they were not". Only a movie about Paleolithic paintings in a cave. NO. These are the nicest (and strangest) scientifics on earth. Mme. Baffier talking about the paintings, other guy trying to reconstruct the way the men killed the animals.
And OH THE PAINTINGS. Those magnificent drawings. We´re talking 30.000/40.000 years ago. There´s even a perfumist studyng that cave!!!
Something I really really loved... there´s no answers for many of the questions that cave and those drawings triggered. BEAUTIFUL.

Oh yes! This is a wonderful documentary from a visual perspective. The music was awful and distracting though, if I remember correctly. I actually muted it and put the subtitles on. lol. But it's just incredible. Definitely worth a watch.

yes, the music it´s terrible sometimes, that´s true but I love so much the way Herzog talks that I had to listen.

I thought there was a post about THE STATION AGENT here... somehow I can´t find it because vino.
BUT I watched that movie, fell completely in love with it. Few dialogues, great characteres, simple, beautiful movie about people who knows how to get bored together. But more than that too.
Oh, and Peter Dinklage is there.

You probably know I don't generally watch movies, but I've been laid up and I'm spending way too much time lying down. I have practically every tv channel known to man, and most of what's on is awful. I can't stream or download movies, since my internet is painfully slow at home, but I can DVR whatever's on my satellite subscription. If you know of some worthwhile movies that are currently playing on any of the HBO, Starz, Encore, Documentary or other cable channels, I would be eternally grateful if you'd give me the heads up. Come on...here's you opportunity to instill a little culture in me.
Here you go silly: http://www.wicgeeks.com/t53108239/got-actors-in-other-projects/
I knew it... well this movie deserves to be in two threads

An under the radar WWII movie: Indigènes A war-movie that breaks your heart in unexpected ways, about the French Free Forces.
+1
I've always loved this movie, one of Mr. Tir's all time favourites.

ok, watched Wilbur wants to kill himself. Thanks to Machuska and Jap for this. So good. Great acting all over. Nice dialogues and very good script. The ending I don´t like that much but I loved it anyway.

Watched this wonderful documentary: The orchestra of Piazza Vittorio. So lovely. This is an orchestra that brought together musicians and singers from all over the world. All inmigrants living in Rome. They made this to save an old theatre that was about to become a Bingo thanks to Berlusconi´s policies. The documentary shows how the orchestra was formed but you can also find documentaries about the orchestra. It´s an amazing story. You can find the documentary on youtube, only problem is that has no subs and almost everybody speaks italian :P
The only subs I found were in french.

Ok, I am now seriously in love with both versions of Sleuth (1972 and 2007). The more recent one just might be Kenneth Brannagh's best directing effort to date, with a fabulous, fabulous soundtrack.
Watched Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story, after the book The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, which I never read. Is absolutely hilarious because the movie is about how the book is adapted instead of the adaptation of the book itself (and if you go all Josh Taylor on it, this may actually be the correct way of adapting this difficult book since the book is about how hard it is to write a book). Great acting.
I've seen it! It was a couple of years ago and I can't remember that much, but I do remember loving it. And I do remember wanting to read the book, but I completely forgot about it since then.

Just saw Rare Exports this freakishly imaginative, Finnish, almost-children's movie except for the R rating about the awakening of Santa Claus and the terror that will bring to the world. If you freak out at naked old men, don't see this.

Anyone seen The Place Beyond The Pines? I watched it last night and it was, different to say the least. Not a bad movie but nor was it great either. Was nice to see Eva Mendes actually being allowed to act for a change instead of just being eye candy.
