Probably the wrong thread for this but my thread detector is weak. This looks awesome, IMO:

Rhaegar, despite wounding Robert, was struck down with a massive blow from Robert's warhammer, which scattered the rubies encrusted in Rhaegar's armor under the water. Rhaegar died with Lyanna Stark's name on his lips.
Great characters, great acting. Ben Mendelsohn once again. These directores know a lot about timing.

I really liked Sicario too. Watched this the other day, The Legend of Barney Thomson, it cracked me up even though it's not one of those comedies you really laugh at. But Emma Thompson and Robert Carlyle are gold together.

Sicaro was good and terrifying. I mean brutal. It got the idealistic right out of the young FBI agent. Emily Blunt and Benicio del Torro rocked it.
I must see this Legend of Barney Thomson. Haven't seen Carlyle in a movie since I've rewatched Formula 51 a few years ago. Love that actor.
This exquisite movie: Stuart, a life backwards. Best I watched in a long long time. Tom Hardy and Cumberbatch doing great. I´m not a fan of Cucumber but he looks almost human here.

Sicario was indeed very well made. So far Villeneuve has a spotless record for me.
Arrival was amazing too, and I can't wait for his Blade Runner 2049.
Gotta check Hell or High Water.
...and yes, The Witch sucks :P

I wonder if we have a thread for festivals. Anyway, this is for TW if she still lives in Chicago because there´s a film festival going on there: one earth film fest and tomorrow they wil show a peruvian movie I think she will enjoy. Great character, great story. Not sure if it´s a documentary or a drama documentary. I still can´t watch but I read a lot about the whole thing.
At the height of the Peruvian gold rush, Nelida, an Andean woman able to communicate with water spirits, uses her powers to prevent a mining corporation from destroying the body of water she considers her mother. A gold deposit valued at billions of dollars lies just beneath Nelida’s lakes and leads farmers and Latin America’s biggest gold producer into conflict

Andi! I checked chat now! It sounds pretty good. I just tried to reserve seats on their website, but the movie is for March 4 for Pilsen neighborhood advance screening, not this weekend. Will try to check it out, as it happens is close to downtown.
Not exactly under the radar, but I saw "La La Land"
Other than the charming leads, and one or two catchy songs, I don't see what the hub-bub is about. Certainly not a film that stays with you like other best picture nominees.

I'd like to recommend The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Little horror film that does a fine job without resorting to constant, crappy jumpscares. The father-son chemistry between Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch is believable and I did feel worried for them.
Way better than the overhyped The Witch.

Wish I've never even seen the trailer for the Witch. But it had Kate Dickie in it so I was curious. Horror movies ain't for me anyway. I should probably recommend something under the radar but I haven't seen many movies this year. Ooh, got it! Spotlight. It was good and it was fun to see Keaton in it, reminded me when he still made better movies than Multiplicity. Or whatever the name of that movie was where he's duplicating himself. Though it's really not under the radar since it won an Oscar but it wasn't a blockbuster either. So I'd put it in the middle.
"The Autopsy of Jane Doe" was wonderful, Morgy! Thanks for the recommendation!
Especially the first and second act, masterful mood and creepy atmosphere building. I am a horror vet and certain moments made me get goosebumps.
