I couldnt recall Bri ever saying shes a woman. But I only read it twice and not studiously. Be that as it may about the ravens, which makes sense, but then you can't call out your bannerman for not knowing the plan when you don't communicate it. I just want more Noah, and I was ruling out the weakest link on the show, unless you include Mance, but I dont think Noah would be a good Mance.
I agree 100% about the ravens. Robb and Blackfish were totally unreasonable. I have a boss just like them who gets upset if we don't pick up on brilliant yet uncommunicated strategies, so I've gotta side with Edmure. Unless I'm missing something from the books, the Tully's don't appear to be onmiscient.
Hmm the thing is , I don't think it came across well in the show , but Cat's brother did cock the whole thing up. Ravens were being intercepted and he did take it apon himself to do something for "glory"... anyhoo .. Sam the Eagle
Did you read the same books as me and Macha ? Or did you not read what we wrote ^ ... The ravens were shot down !!! He could not risk sending a bloody raven ! grrrrr
Roose gets messages. You could send a rider. The Tullys are infamous for using invisible ink. Robbs reaction was out of line, especially since the viewer has no indication as to who Edmure is and why Robb didn't clue him in on his battle plans.

Yes, that. I was really confused by what the heck they were talking about, even though it became more clear the second time through.
I rewatched the Sannis/Melisandre scene repeatedly, looking for a different way to view what was happening. I didn't really find one. What struck me, largely because of Carice's facial expressions, was that she was treating Stannis like a petulant child. Not in a nurturing way; more in a condescending way, as if he's ignorant and foolish. And she certainly didn't act as though she returned his desire in any respect. Her face reminded me of when you get hit on by an icky guy at a bar. Not only no, but hell no. So the change in dynamic is really all I caught in reviewing the scene.
Ok, I except had I not had prior knowledge... but I did say earlier , that may be that did not come across to well on the show , it is very hard for me now I am party to events . However , Ry is also party to the same info , and he is going on about it . I'm starting to get Grrr as it was made quite clear in the books that Ravens were not to be used , AND It IS clear who Edmure is and that he COCKED up! That was all we, as viewers needed to know ... Oh I don't know I feel I'm banging my head here.Just ignore me.:/
Lady Black, we are really seeing Stannis at his lowest point here. His fleet and army scattered, he is holed up in Dragonstone. He is a man that is addicted, addicted to what he thinks is owed to him, chasing slights real ( Joffrey ) or imagined ( Robb ), addicted to the sex and power she gave to him.
And seeing her leave is almost like an addict being jerked away from his drug cold turkey, and in a way it will be good, without her whispering in his ear, he will have Davos to speak some sense into him, and he might find his emotional center when he has more time with his wife and daughter.
I am looking forward to the next Stannis scenes.

Ah I didn't see you'd posted Basi , my thing was , this was a new scene and something you said in your review was off the mark , just a little. She is going somewhere... but where and why?
Bas and Lady Y, I think what we see in Robb is frustration and lashing out. In a way he is both wrong and right. Yes his strategy would've given him The Mountain, but all that maneuvering just to kill one man? He is reaching for straws.
He knows his current situation is critical, despite all his victories his bannermen are tired and frustrated, knowing they now face the Lannisters that have been bolstered by the large Tyrell host. He lost his most valuable hostage and lost his home, Winterfell, basically by his trust placed in Theon, PLUS he lost the Freys because the oath he broke.
Jaimie was right, the odds have turned on Robb at the moment and it might seem he needs to plan his next moves very carefully.

Yvy, I felt badly for Edmure, but it was clear that he had screwed up, even if it wasn't clear how. On the second time through, it became obvious that he had acted foolishly for glory and sustained unacceptable losses. But I thought the others were too hard on him, unless he had received word of the plan. I think if they'd have given the scene another 30 seconds to explain the situation, and it would've made much more sense.
As for where Mel is off to, that's hard to guess. She obviously needs something important or else she wouldn't leave Stannis while Davos is still alive to undermine her. It's a small boat (unless she's being rowed out to a larger one), so she's not crossing the narrow sea. But it's clear that whatever she's up to she think it'll be worthwhile and that Stannis will be pleased with the result.
Interesting, Don. I hadn't thought about the Mountain's lack of import, but he's certainly no replacement for Jaime. And I thought of it as bolstering his numbers by adding in the Tullys and their banners to his cause, as opposed to slowly losing his advantage one mistake at a time. I'll have to think about that some more.
My whole point was that Robbs whole defense for being angry was that Edmure was not to draw the Mountain in a fight and that he was going to tell Ed this when he arrived in Riverrun. However, Ed acted before Robb could give him orders and he got shit for it. It was brash. Thats all. And yes it does show how frustrated he is.

Then stop going on about Gaddam Ravens !!! That's all I ask .
I did the same thing with season two, I am a terrible nitpicker. Not reading book 3 before season 3 *really* helped a lot. Tho I am so very tempted to jump back in now.
