How are we going to get Frank now. Surely there are still some loose ends.
Ep.5 spoilers
Spoiler
I'm convinced it'll be through the hacker, Gavin. Otherwise why build up his character so much? Frank embodies he despises about the system, and I think he'll look into it out of guilt for what happened to Lucas.
In a previous post I mentioned that Russo dying in the passenger seat and going unnoticed was an annoying plot hole. Glad that was not the case, good continuity.
Ya know, since S3 has already been announced I speculate that Frank will become president, and once he is at his highest point of power and arrogance he will probably get assassinated by some little person he pissed off along the way! Hahaha

Finished the season last night. Ugh, amazing how well Spacey and Robin Wright work together on screen.
Overall, I thought it was much better paced than S1, but I was a little annoyed by characters that came and went just as fast.
Spoiler
Lucas's former boss, forgot his name, Adam and Inez, Cristina, pregnant lady from S1 - so what happened to her? Did Claire just handed her everything and that was it?
Also, the switch from PRman No.1 to PRman No. 2 made no sense to me, storywise. Felt like filler.
But I loved the episode with Claire's interview, and Freddie's episode .
I saw 6 eps. and I think that "the stakes are higher" cliche is just right for the second season.
Right out of the gate it packed a punch.
Spoiler
I cannot believe how out of nowhere I felt Zoe's death came. It looked like Frank was walking away and then she persisted and he pushed her in front of the train. I could have sworn it was done on impulse, but then several eps later we see that tape. Dark corner, blind spot. I think that the man went prepared to do anything and he adjusted his plans accordingly.
I love Jackie Sharp.
Spoiler
She's having Frank's follow through resolve, she's smart and savvy and with different methods that seem more to my liking. I see integrity in her when fighting for bills for example, though sometimes the quest for power proved she can be just as ruthless as Underwood. The way she stood up and "convinced" those to representatives to vote yes was impressive and Remy saw that too! Good to see Miss Parker. I've missed her since DW.
I'm curious what Frank's agenda really is.
Spoiler
Sometimes I wonder if he doesn't boycott the Tusk/ The President relationship and force the China & energy price issues to bring about Walker's political demise! Maybe he's aiming for the No. 1 position.
Good entertainment!

she showed her tattoo and said fill in this poppy and start a new one there and the tattoo artist said, Well that's quite a bit of space, or whatever she said
, I just had to roll my eyes.

I wondered what was the point of that!
Spoiler
Showing us she can take pain? A rebel of sorts maybe as tattoos are many times associated with that (stereotyping is such a hard job *eye roll here*) Or what if she's punishing herself somehow? But maybe she just likes to have a poppy tattoo. LOL
So Underwood is president like I predicted, and only one loose end is out there, Rachel. How could it possibly bring him down at this point though?
So am I alone that I both love and hate binge watching? I love to be able to watch as much as I want. But I miss the discussion you can have while you wait a week for the next episode.
Maybe that's just me.

Wow indeed! Got two more eps and I am shocked at how many things can happen.
Spoiler
So Linda is out. I liked her and like Underwood said she played to win but lost to none other than himself. And I admire her, just like Frank. She went out like a Lady. Remy Dalton is another one I love. He's got some skills at uncovering skeletons in the closet. I thought it would be Claire's abortion but NO! It was her affair with Adam Galloway. And last but not least: the Underwoods are unstoppable when they team up. They are practically taking apart the Walkers! All so cunningly hateful.
Don you are not the only one. I've got 5 more to go and I don't like it that it ends already.

I am more in the binge watching camp because I just like to snuggle up in my pj's and gather a big feast to gorge on while I watch.
Yes yes good. I think I'd probably like this show less if I had to wait for new episodes every week, because it's fairly slow action-wise and these are usually the shows I like to gulp down in a day or two.
Well, I'm done with it. Just finished watching the last ep. and frankly I have no idea what Season 3 could possibly bring.
Spoiler
So now that Frank Underwood took over the presidency of US I cannot fathom what he'll be after next. Unless we talk taking over the world! Maybe they'll just keep him there for a while and make him run for the 2016 elections. If they provide a worthy adversary it might work. After all Rachel is on the loose, as Don mentioned above, and she could spoil things for him to some degree. Also the hacker is a little bit like the wildcard. So if the opponent could just put that together and dig deeper they could work for a 3rd season.

One small gripe with the show is that the Underwoods always seem to outsmart and outwit every single thing thrown at them, and always very quickly. I do wish the show would really put them through the wringer.
Well, despite that I will certainly be back for S3. The good parts of the show certainly outweigh the bad ones for me.

I can't see this show going more than 3 seasons either, for all the reasons mentioned above. They could decide to go further than the BBC series, but I honestly don't see how. I think it all points to S3
Spoiler
ending with his death. Not sure about his disgrace though.
Had no idea Neflix's series was a remake of a BBC one! Now I want to see that one too. I wonder if it is different storyline wise. Thanks ppl for the info!
The story is similar, only set in the UK, of course. The characters are far less complex, although Ian Richardson is amazing in it. I really liked it when I watched it a few years ago, but the new version is much, MUCH better.
Late to the party, as usual, saw Ep. 1,2 first season

I watched this and still think the same as the first time I watched. They are too infallible . More than Macbeth and his lady are in the play, (By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes). The talking to the camera thingy reminds me of Shakespeare prologues. And that I like very much. Lol, president is as dumb as king Duncan is in Macbeth too.
You can tell the actors enjoy this show and if Spacey is involved somehow in the production, I don´t think they will squeeze the story too much. I too think computer will be dangerous for them but I hope they wont go all wikileaks on him but it´s possible I guess. And I hope that, at the end, I can hear Francis (and lady Claire) say my favorite line from the play (or something similar of course):
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, And then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

"let's be best friends with the first couple and manipulate the fuck out of them"
just rings shallow to me.
yes, in these times it is but was (is) just like that in the play... well they did it even bigger because Lady Claire is also involved in the show (and not in the play).

This this this. The Macbeth angle is what I love most about this show.
I don't care that they seem too infallible now, because something tells me they'll end it in S3, and that that was their intention all along. If it was a series that would go on for seasons and seasons, yes, it would seem uneven and forced. I had this problem with The Borgias, but not with this show because I think they know when to end it in order to make an impact.
Just started watching this at Stitch 'n Bitch. The artsy boyfriend? Yuck. At the point where she's gone to see the doctor to see if she can become preggers. Please do not let this from Seven Hells have a child. She does a wonderful job in here and I love her chemistry with Frances but she has ice in her veins, not good mommy material, unless mommy dearest . Oh, and we the series! Oh, Don, was

It's baaaaaack! Who's watching? I am at episode 3...
I´m ahead of you donnie, at episode 7 already, yes, it´s raining and I`m bored. Was thinking is better if I wait to comment because I´m dangerous with spoilers. Will say there were lots of shock moments or surprises.

Season 2 started with a bang, this one seems be bubbling towards a boil. I like how the show subverted expectations by making the Precidency suck ass for Frank, you wanted it so bad didn't ya? Hehe
Holy shit
Spoiler
...that moment when he spit on the Jesus statue and it fell and broke...was so unexpectedly hilarious..."I have God's ear now...lolol"

Finished the whole season, this one seemed to be more character focused which was fine. I kinda liked that after all they wanted was the presidency it was not all what it cracked up to be, and their biggest downfall and challenges are themselves.

I liked it, it focused more on characters rather than scandals, but it was interesting to see how it panned out. Very good performances but less OMG moments from season 2, I was hoping for some fun, dark turns, but there only was one this season:
Spoiler
When Doug tracked down and killed Rachel.

It´s actually clever that this show is for the binging, I don`t think it would resist an episode by episode watching without getting boring. And it´s good for the binging because it´s a soap opera. I said The affair was dishonestly slow and this season of HoC was the same to me. Too slow to be so obvious about things that will be presented only in the last episode and you will see if you watch next season.
Spoiler
Like you know in the first episodes that she wants to be the candidate.
It´s true what Donnie said though, it´s good the power was not at all what they expected. They probably never thought about it. Still they might not be as infallible as in season 1 and 2 but now they are just too fake. He used to be fun and he´s not anymore, that´s a pity. Of course we can´t relate to them, they probably psychos but they feel so cartoonish now.
Idk, why I can´t just say I don´t like and be done with it? Imma take some classes with Ry. This show sucks sweaty balls or something. Is that ok?
Butbutbut there is a couple of surprises (and actor/actresses) that made it easier to watch but I forgot all about them .
Oh wait, the whole Doug storyline... why so obscure?, like he doesn´t belong to this show,
Spoiler
wtf was that? from episode 1 to ep 13 to resolve wut??? and with a terrible character (good actor). Like you need more sychos in this show.
These two (Francis and Clare, what a duet) reminded me of Cersei, you think or you hoping that she would be
Spoiler
a good queen or something, at least smart enough but no, when she has the power she´s awful
.
Too much inconsistencies in this show. Still I´d like to watch what happens with Claire next season. It what soap operas does to you!

Andi is completely right, this show is made to be watched in 2 to 3 episodes at a time, because the episodes by themselves are not that eventful, if it were a weekly show most folks would eventually be bored.
Very interesting point.

Still, I am gladly looking forward to next season, we have to remember this is as much as an experiment as a TV show and in many way it works....like this scene...fucking awesome.

Great post Andi! I think Cleaahh is Cersei done right.
But Francis is Twyin done wrong, no matter what people say about Twyin, he always put his family in the first place, not himself. The idea of the Maquiavellian prince as the one who puts himself above all else is wrong, in that Gurm got something right, the Prince puts the state above all, even himself. Well, medieval settings don't have much of a State so family will do, granted, he was a terrible father who failed to recognize his true heir, but his flaws are a great character building factor, while Francis flaws are... the bad accent maybe? A character with no flaws is just boring, even his sociopathic selfishness ends up helping him.
Sorry for the tangent, but i loved andi's analogy and decided to share my two cents. I'm at episode 9 right now, i'll edit this when i finish.
PS: Agree Al, also
Spoiler
Rachel's death was so out of the blue, i felt cheated, so much build to end like that? Really?
And the sex scenes seemed kinda lame, specifically
Spoiler
Doug's hook up with his therapist (how do you call it? the one helping him recover?), they hints were so glaringly obvious that all it lacked was some huge sign on the screen saying NOW THEY ARE GOING TO FUCK, OK? Later on, Tom and the journalist had a much more smooth thing, and i was like, why did they failed so bad with Doug? I don't remember if it was the same episode/direcor though, so that might be the cause.

I just watched the first episode and was bored as fuck. The rapid decline season 2 underwent is setting through in this season it seems. This show got so many praises for giving us an inside peak in Washington but sadly the only show doing that now is Veep. I wonder if I'll continue watching.
