"Ice" does't need to get mentioned every season, they can simply rentroduce it briefly as "Ned's Stark's sword". I don't think it'll get lost since it's actually meaningful for Jaime and Brienne's storyine, which revolves around oaths.
Maybe my memory fails me, but I don't think Ice has been mentioned on the show at all. What bugs me more is that neither have Dany's dragons. Would it kill them to have Dany talk to Missandei and go: "Check out my Dragons! These are...."
I guess everyone has their pet peeves, heh.
Cogman has said the dragons do have names on set, I guess the timing just hasn't been right. I am pretty confident Dany will talk about them some point in the future, Dany and her dragons are very popular with the audience.
But then again D & D have hardly paid any attention to Lightbringer with Stannis so I shouldn't be surprised.
Actually Melisandre does mention Lightbringer in S2, doesn't she? Oh man, nevermind the swords, I just want them to namecheck Honor (Jaime's horse) on the show.
I am with Al here. I really hope they do the oathkeeper scene, because it says so much about the how Jaime feels and how his relationship with his father has changed, I think it'd be a beautiful scene and it'd be a pitty if it was left out. However, I got this feeling that they'll leave it out, since they've downplayed the importance of the family swords so far. I do hope I am wrong. I'd love to see that onscreen.

I personally look forward...the show will be making changes for adaptation sake.
For season 5 and onward it seems wise to work around the source material issues.

wut is dis of locke at the wall??? anyhoo, i myself am delighted to hear we have a new Mountain and a new Daario. Though in the later's case for continuity sake I wish they send off the original one and start afresh with Maario or sth.

Slynt got shipped to the wall, unless his ship sank on the way over....I do admit I like Locke better than Slynt...so it could be fun. Wow a lot of stuff happening up thar!

I'll join your happy dance, but why do you think this means no book continuity?
By that I mean that they will use characters like Tycho who doesn't appear till book 5 in season 4 of the show. I shouldve known as it was telegraphed a bit when Tyrion explained to Bronn last season how the crown was in debt with the bank. Clever!

This makes it appear that Episode 2 will have the Purple Wedding...
My initial thought was how are they going to do that... because of all the things that should / could / need to be shown to IMO build up and do it correctly and well.
Introduce Mace Introduce Oberyn Jaime and Cersei interaction Jaime and Tywin Dealing with Brienne Sansa-Tyrion Post Red Wedding Tywin - Tyrion. Melting of Ice. Tyrion discovering Joffrey sent the assassin after Bran (Cuttable) Re introduce the Mountain??? Not necessary but maybe a few mentions. Shae-Tyrion-Sansa weirdness
The wedding itself along with the Wedding feast should probably be something that takes 20-30 minutes of an episode. With its epic ending.
This doesn't include the multiple kind of scenes where we just have characters interacting to keep them present in the story. Olenna, Margaery, Joffrey, Sansa, Shae, Varys, Pod, Bronn, Tommen, Loras, Qyburn. I mean there are all sorts of possible interactions that could be added in that would be good... another Joff-Sansa scene, Marg-Tommen, Marg-Joff, anyone with Olenna. Shae-Sansa, Pod-Brienne, Varys-Pycelle.
If they do plan on the PW being episode 2... the only way I see it being done well is that the ENTIRE first 2 episodes are done in King's Landing...
Which from a pacing stand point for the entire season could fix some issues. The Wall battle being Ep 9. Stannis... Every other character's season is able to be much tighter. Maybe not as many episodes just having them being in it, just to be in it...
Thoughts?
Mod Note: I put in a spoiler tag for those who don't wish to be spoiled at a glance. Lots of cool info tho!

I don't think it was because he hated Bran. Bran sparred with Tommen.
My recollection is that he did because Robert (his father) said something to the effect that it would have been a mercy if he had died in the fall rather than live as a cripple. So in Joffrey's screwed up head that meant he should send an assassin... out of kindness.
And I don't know if they will... It was cool as a book reader to find that out... but I don't know if the TV only viewer even cares or has thought twice about it. So I can see it being cut out... even though I think it would be cool if it was kept... but it is a small detail.
Thanks DonalNoye for adding the spoiler... that makes sense.

Rhaegar, despite wounding Robert, was struck down with a massive blow from Robert's warhammer, which scattered the rubies encrusted in Rhaegar's armor under the water. Rhaegar died with Lyanna Stark's name on his lips.
You know what I'm wondering? If they'll ever reveal who sent that assassin after Bran in the show. Because they never mentioned that spar in the courtyard, and wasn't that the reason Joffrey hated Bran? My memory is a wee bit fuzzy, but would show-Joffrey even have a reason to go after Bran? Other than that he's a dick. Which, at this point in the show, is a bit stale.

Hmm I think you're right. I forgot about his motivation, I remembered Bran sparred with Tommen, but I couldn't connect the dots back to Joffrey, so I just thought he took the fact that Tommen lost to Bran as a family offense or something. But yeah, what you're saying definitely rings a bell. Still don't know if this would work on the show, since it was hardly referenced after S1.

How do you pronounce Hizdahr zo Loraq anyway? For me, he was one of those characters whose name I never said out loud or in my head. Along with basically everybody else in Meereen.

I feel Gendry might strike out with Brienne and Pod on her search, I also agree Bronn coming along with be awesome. But in the books Bronn abandoned Tryion as his trail champion, he will do the same next season so the Red Viper will do his thing, but what will bring Bronn back?

I like the theories suggesting that Bronn is going to take the place by Jaime's side that Ilyn Payne had. It will be a much different experience of course, instead of silent mocking Jaime will be experiencing Bronn's acerbic wit.

Yep, this is what I thought so too. Sending Bronn with Tyrion will add nothing to his character or their storyline, plus with Jorah there later on, Bronn will have nothing to do.
I think he's definitely pairing up with Jaime, although they'd do well to explain why someone who just earned a knighthood and is doing quite well for himself would just follow Jaime around.
I was sure he'd only make an appearance in the very last episode - a scene where Bran meets him and he only says one or two lines before they cut to black
"You will never walk again, Bran, but you will fly."....cut to black
