Also, I was on painkiller meds today. If I was being out of line, it would have helped if someone had said something besides Al. We all make mistakes and we all have a tendency of being assholes. And we don't always know we're doing it while we're doing it. If just one person had PM'd me rather than let me keep going, I would have left it completely alone.
Finding out about it when I read back in chat after I log in later does none of us any good.
Al, I'm sorry for my part in today's issue. I really wasn't aware I was being that much of a dick. Please come back.

Closed a thread related to Edgar Wright's departure from Ant-Man, because I feel the movie section of this forum is becoming overcrowded with threads that are too specific to provoke discussion, other than one or two replies, ad because we already have general movie threads that could accommodate that subject.
But I'd like to ask everybody if you feel we should change our current general movie threads (Summer/Winter movie season, Vintage/Classic films, Under the radar films, Movies I think other people might like) to better incorporate various subjects that might come up. Also, do you think we should have one thread per film? If so, I think we should work on a system in which we close/archive older threads with no recent activity, to not overcrowd the forum.
I'd really appreciate the input. Thanks, everyone!

I appreciate the question! The summer/winter movie season threads don`t think they have a point. Just one thread with new movies. Vintage/ classic and under the radar could be another thread. Many under the radar are also vintage or old enough.
I don`t think we should have one thread per film because most of those threads have few posts. I mean, I would never open a thread for each "under the radar" movie or classics I watch because i know not all of you share my taste and you won´t post there to discuss or whatever.
I think the only movie that had many posts was The Hobbit and now maybe the Star Wars franchising, still, I don`t think they deserve a thread, we have the quote button for that to mantain some order or logic in the thread.

I do like the extra activity in the movie forum maybe we also need a "movie rumors/news thread" any movie news, casting, rumors can be discussed by those interested without having to make a new topic. Also I don't mind the "RIP" threads, but we can can make a "Dearly Departed" or "Curtain Call" thread for recently passed entertainers.

What's the point in having a movie section if you aren't allowed to discuss certain upcoming movies?
Why not just delete the thread since you deem it to be unworthy of being there?
I would of used that thread as The Ant-Man thread but you never gave me the opportunity.
"Too specific to provoke discussion" yeah because a high profile director leaving a Marvel project doesn't generate conversation among movie fans.
It's my fault for treating this place like a forum when it's more like an internet cafe. No wonder only a core group of people remain, everyone else has been scared off by the close knit community.
It's becoming abundantly clear I don't fit in here. I seem to be clashing with people on a regular basis and I think it would be best for the forum and myself if I leave. Good luck with the forum, I hope it continues to grow with the increasing success of the show and books.
Ly, Don, TW, BaS, Yvvy take care, it's been fun knowing you all. I'll keep my profile active for a wee while if you want to pm me.
In Al's defense, more threads mean more topics which means more Google juice. Of course, dead topics attract less Google juice but not negative Google juice, they're relatively harmless.

Al, people is not agreeing with you all the time, or will never agree with you. Big deal. Move on. You can try to understand that or go away, of course, but don´t blame the forum or the people. If I can acuse people of this forum of something is just of being too nice.

Alright, here is what I think. The more topics the better, but when multiple topics of closely overlapping subjects can be combined members should do so.
Al, for example the Batman Vs Superman thread, you have modified it as it went, broadening the thread to include the justice League movie and renaming it. So when the same can be done with other subjects, go for it
The issue here is organization and not trying to stifle anyone, we just need help from members to keep things tidy, thats all.

Like I suggested in that thread, it would have been better to create a thread named "Ant Man" or whatever the movie is called from the beginning, and include that bit of news in the first post. This was coupled with the SW spin off thread that could have easily belonged to the SW thread that we already have. BTW, changing topic names is fine, if it's not a jab aimed at the people here or their activities. Changing the title *and* the first post to take a shot at people who post in some threads and not others got that thread deleted.
As Don said, the fact that I initially closed the Edgar Wright departing etc thread was not meant as an insult to you, or else I wouldn't have wasted my time posting about finding better ways to organize the movie section in that thread *and* here.
I gave you, and everyone else, the opportunity to offer ideas or to sustain your point of view. If we would have reached the conclusion that these kinds of threads are OK and we should continue to have them, I would have simply re-opened the thread. It can be done. That's why I didn't delete it in the first place.
In the future, some actual discussion instead of a fuck off could avoid lots of unneeded conflicts.

I think these are good ideas, and I don't mind if we continue to have separate threads for big movies and shows coming up. However, I'd vote for one thread per franchise, if that's the case.
Don't edit my comments unless it's warranted. None of what I posted spoiled any of the future seasons. I am not going to participate in a forum where moderators abuse their powers.
Al, book discussion and comparisons don't belong in the no spoiler threads. While they aren't technically spoilers, Unsullied like me don't want to read them. There are appropriate threads for book comparison and discussion.
I edited everyone's comments, including mine, in a thread where "in the books" has no place, no matter if it refers to past or future events.
And what is the problem in having a comment hidden under a spoiler tag that you consider so offensive? Book readers will still read it, it's not like it was sent into the void. It's a minimum consideration for people that do not want any insight from the books and it's the least we can do in a forum where the majority of us are book readers and have tens of threads where we can discuss the books freely.
But If you see this as an abuse of power, then I am obviously wasting my breath.

I don't care I will not tolerate people altering my posts without my consent. None of what I posted broke any rules.

What you altered wasn't even anywhere related to book spoiler'ish it was a character observation comment in the season review thread. You can apply it to both versions of the character.
I have no problem hiding stuff that could ruin future moments for BaS but I don't see why I have to hide every single comment if I make a passing reference to the books. That's overkill.
Al, that means I cannot participate because you don't want to be inconvenienced.
I vote that it is more important to mediate the impossibility of BaS' participation verses the inconvenience of Al's posts having to be modified because they prevent her from participating. Being a book reader, this forum is full of highly active SPOILER LADEN threads in which he can post to his heart's content. Al, you are certainly capable of posting to an unsullied thread without mentioning the books or making veiled and cryptic references to things that are in the books that only serve to baffle unsullied readers.

I don't know that it was a spoiler what Al said. Honestly, I've participated myself because I thought it wasn't. Just a difference from the books that's water over the bridge at this point in the series. Obviously that's not the case. So my apologies about that. Al, get with it, will you. Open a comparison thread RIGHT NOW!
User Al Swearengen has been permabanned from the forum. Two previous incidences have occurred and we gave him chances, this was strike 3 and he is out...permanently.
