I was not expecting that last scene, even though I read the summary. Somehow it completely slipped my mind and then...freakout Loved that shattering effect, but R'hllor fucking dammit Sam, wouldn't it have been a better idea to pick up the knife that just saved your life before you fled?

This whole episode would have been perfect for me, but then Daario happened. And Dany. And Dany and Daario together. GTFO.

Awkward sexy times as Dragonstone! No one does it better than Team Freaky. So bloody good, pardon the pun. Davos, you're killing me. Can you meet Sam and talk? Just talk. About reading and thimbles and whatever. Mel, you're pretty as a painting and I love you to bits. Stannis, just staaahp. You and your lambs are too much for me, and I can't love you more than I already do. Oh and did I say LEECHES? LEECHES LEECHES LEECHES LEECHES LEECHES. Well, at least somebody remembered Balon.

Arya and the Hound were lovely. Loving the outdoor shots this season.
King's Landing was all sorts of awful, in a good way. Peter Dinklage was masterful. And Olenna listing family ties - please never stop.

All in all, one of the strongest episodes so far.

Yeah the end was wonderful, Sam the Slayer being a hero to save Gilly and Baby No-name. I also noticed he dropped the dragonbone blade, Sam...whyyyyy! I guess seeing a monster shatter will freak you the hell out and send you running.

The Stannis/Davos scene was magic, I could watch those two forever. The Melly/Gendry was typical HBO, but the leeches sizzling in the fire was creepy as hell.

The whole Tyrion/Sansa wedding was all around great, the Cersei/Margaery bit was wonderful and the gloves are off now between them. Joff had to be a dick to his uncle didn't he? Though Tyrion's threat was a great "OH SNAP" moment.

While it was great to see Dany nude again, I am not sold yet on Daario, but he is new and he could grow on me....loved his nekkid ladies knives tho...nice touch.

GOT works really well when it drills down and focuses on less characters in an episode, but I understand when they have to jump around more since they only have so many hours. This brought the show back to the top level and now only 2 episodes left, I can't believe it!

Ok people should post here more. There is plenty of shit in the other thread that they could have perfectly put here.

Arya's hint of a smile!! Fucking fantastic, made me feel all good and put me in the right mood for the rest of the episode.

Cersei! I missed you, lovely bitch you are. Oh and the granny Tyrell making all those links, so fucking hilarious. Joffrey for once didn't steal the show, Peter Dinklage owned this scene and I was a bit miffed how easily Joffrey lyed down after his pop-pop told him to stand down. Sansa was great, I am amazed they toned the scene that down. Not that I needed to see her naked, but there was too much distance and too little uneasyness now.

Carice, you hot dutchie. People on dutch site complain why she always has to show her titties. THATS WHY YOU ASSHOLES. The leaches I loved, though I never had them on me, I can't believe they hurt that much. I wonder if there are people who have put leaches on their hard-ons. I also wonder if it was joffrey, Robb or Balon sucking Gendry's dick.

Stannis releasing Davos, I like the actors very much but it seemed a little farfetched he did it now all of a sudden. Maybe a scene with the cute daughter would have made it better.

Dany's nipples distracted me. I said this in the other thread: if Emilia Clarke doesn't have a strong actor/actress around her it becomes all the more obvious she sucks, and the actor playing Daario sucks baaaaaaad. Mero! They should do a farewell post for him on WinterIsComing.net Loved him to bits, why wasn't he cast as Daario? Fuck you, slutty Dany and her: " "I'm just a young girl with no experience in war." Go give Jorah a blowjob, that man deserves it.

Sam! You jolly fellow, still not knowing how to put on a fire. I fucking fell of my chair when Gilly shoved the baby in his hands and she started to collect wood of the ground. The scene was beautifully done, the face in the tree and the crows and the White Walker, so eerie!

I did have a very special remark on the Tyrion Sansa wedding. I found it particularly interesting how dismal and sad the Sept of Baelor was, drab and not very bright and colorless. Perfect for the couple's mood. I'm wondering if that would change should the Joffrey/Margaery wedding take place there.

I liked this episode tremendously! It was such a change from the rest of the season. Nothing dark or horrible happened. It was like a breath of fresh air. I'm not sure, but I think maybe someone from Disney wrote this episode.

This stood out for me a bit. I loved the direction in that scene, with Tyrion watching her and going from left to right, however personally I felt that the scene didn't convey nearly as much uneasiness as it should have. Yes, she just said she was 14 but that's precisely why they should have shown a bit more, IMO - because this is a perfect example of a scene where the viewer sees through the eyes of a character - and viewers should be able to experience Tyrion's conflict. And no, that doesn't mean I have no respect for Sophie Turner and that I want to see her naked. Hell, they could have had Tyrion remove his coat while watching her, it didn't even have to be Sansa. Nudity can be implied in just about any dose without actually showing anything. They had no problem putting her in a corset a few episodes ago, when it was not actually needed. Oh well, it's a minor thing in an otherwise great scene.

Also, yes, Mero should have been Daario, haha. Hmm, but then he might have resembled Drogo a bit, and I imagine they wanted someone very notably different from the men in her life. I couldn't really tell if Ed Skrein was that bad, or if my personal distaste for his character made me loathe those scenes, so I'll give him some more time.

+1 on Mero for Daario.

Since the next episode is out tonight, I thought I'd post some thoughts about Ep 8.

I loved the interaction between the Hound and Arya. It's the most unguarded and genuine we've seen the Hound. I loved the chemistry between them. And it makes me wonder whether Arya would still kill the Hound, given the chance. I think she would. She cares too much about revenge.

Dany's storyline is finally getting interesting, which it hasn't been since Season 1. I liked Daario and Mero, even though I thought Mero stole the scenes. If he weren't such a pig, he'd be my new favorite character. Except he's already dead. Oh well. Daario was missing something. There's a spark and a cockiness and a conviction missing from his character that allowed Mero to outshine him. I liked Dany in her scenes. She's exuding a confidence and conviction she's been lacking. I expect Yunkai will surrender now that she has the Second Sons working with her. And I'm looking forward to tension, mistrust and resentment between Daario, Jorah and Barristan. It could make for some fun scenes.

The ending with Sam and Gilly was interesting. Sam is so incompetent, but he's trying so hard. It's sweet. And he overcame his fear to save Gilly's baby. He may evolve into a respectable character at this rate. I was annoyed to see when I watched for the second time that Sam left the obsidian blade. But it's believable, considering that it's Sam and not a ranger or other fighter.

The crows are interesting. I don't think what we were seeing was warging. It was something different. There's clearly a connection between the White Walkers and the crows, but I don't think the crows are controlled by the WW. It's more like they are acting in concert with each other. If crows are minions (for lack of a better word) of the WWs, then the WW have an incredible intelligence-gathering capability. It also makes the wildlings' use of "crow" to describe the NIght's Watch that much more insulting.

I expect that Sam and Gilly will make it back to the Wall, but they're going to be on the run more now than ever.

Mel/Gendry/Stannis/Davos scenes were disturbing and clever. I loved Davos learning to read. I thought his progress from the beginning of the scene to when Stannis showed up was too fast, but overall it was a good scene. As for Stannis, he has completely lost it. The fanaticism in his eyes and his words is disconcerting. It's hard to believe that such a strong, principled man would be won over by Mel and her red god so easily and completely. And as Davos points out, perhaps his release of Davos shows that his conversion is not complete. Or maybe Mel sent Stannis to get Davos for her demonstration.

Mel was brilliant. From her first scene, when she talks about slaughtering lambs so matter of factly to her conversations with Gendry, she was perfect. What was interesting is that I didn't know what to expect. Sex to make another shadow baby? Sacrificing Gendry, in light of her comment about lambs? The leeches were funny after the hints at other actions. The leech on the poor man's kraken seemed unnecessary though.

Macha wanted to know what I think throwing the leeches into the fire means. Honestly, I'm not sure. I would say that it means the three usurpers are going to die, but that seems simplistic. It doesn't make sense that Mel needed to birth a shadow baby to kill Renly, but only needs to throw leeches into the fire to kill three more would-be kings. The only possibility I can think of is that the sacrifice of king's blood is needed to fuel and direct the shadow baby, which is still around somewhere. But my guess is that the leeches do something far lesser than cause the death of the three men. It's too simple for them to die just because someone threw a leech in a fire. So I can't quite imagine what will happen. Obviously something that will impress Davos. I think it would be fun if the three men started throwing up blood or leeches, but that won't happen. So I don't have a clear feeling about what will happen from here.

I enjoyed the wedding. Everything from Joffrey's threats and meanness to the awkwardness between Sansa and Tyrion was fantastic. Tyrion is trying so hard to be sweet to Sansa and to make things easier for her. I think she's incredibly lucky to be paired with Tyrion. Tyrion will do everything he can to protect her. And she's not trapped somewhere at Petyr Baelish's mercy. I just hope Sansa realizes it. I was pleased that she was prepared to do her duty as his wife, just as Marge had encouraged her to do. And I hope she overcomes her selfishness and pettiness to become the wife Tyrion deserves.

I honestly thought Tyrion was pretending to be more drunk than he was. I thought once Tyrion got to the bedroom with Sansa, he would be more sober. Boy was I wrong. The scenes between Sansa and Tyrion (and Shae) were great. He's so awkward, and she's trying so hard to be nice and act properly. Shae is just her usual pain in the ass self. I'm beginning to truly dislike her.

I liked Tywin. He kept Joffrey reined in. And Cersei was as brilliant as ever. And I loved her hair! It's amusing to watch Margaery try the tricks that work so well on Sansa and Joffrey on Cersei and seeing them flop miserably. The rivalry being set up between Margaery and Cersei is so much fun to watch. I hope we get more of it before the season is over.
