Nooooo, I just puked a little. Please, please people, explain to me the Francois Arnaud love. Because I think he's more dreadful than the Dreadfort.
Hmmm mmm, people I'd recast. It won't be a long list, but Emilia's one of my candidates too. Maybe she's not that bad per se, but (almost) everybody else is so damn good, that her acting feels a bit...dunno...generic?
I'm definitely keeping Kit. At most, I was indifferent to Jon in the books, but Kit's Jon is down to earth and funny, in a very dorky way.
Spoiler
And despite what we know from the books, he also doesn't seem to have "50 kilos of plot armor" written all over him, unlike TV-Dany.
He's young and he needs a good director (many great actors do, too), but I think he's been more and more convincing with each passing season.
Daario, I'd recast him in a heartbeat. At this point, anyone would do. Even Brad Lannister. Even King's Landing Butler. Ok, I could go on but I'll stop.
I really can't think of anyone else so far...hmmm. Maaaaaybe Osha. I love Natalia Tena, but sometimes she doesn't click with me. You know who really made an impression on me, in her 20 seconds of screen-time? That white haired featured extra that was in the torture scene at Harrenhall, talking about how they came for her family. That's how I always pictured (and keep picturing) Osha in my head.
EDIT: Oh, wanted to mentione Renly as well but I think the fault there was with the script and the lack of emphasis on his character in general, and not necessarily Gethin Anthony's acting.

Rose Leslie as Ygritte. I absolutely can't stand her portrayal, even though I liked her in the final two episodes of S3. How she delivers her lines, her facial expressions and her body language all rub me wrong.
YU KNO NUTHIN BLEK AS SNUUUUUUUUU!
Oh and Al ,people are already complaining that they cast Ygritte too pretty, now you wanna replace her with one of the hottest redheads around?

If you had the chance to recast characters from Game of Thrones who would you replace or would you even want to ?
You can pick characters from previous seasons if you want to.
People I wouldn't change
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister
Liam Cunningham as Ser Davos Seaworth
Maisie Williams as Arya Stark - In fact I don't think I'd change any of the young Stark children they are all great.
Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister
Sean Bean as Eddard Stark
Harry Lloyd as Viserys Targaryen
Charles Dance (Why isn't he a knight already?) as Tywin Lannister
Natalia Tena as Osha
Ian Glen as Jorah Mormont
Jack Gleeson as Joffrey Baratheon
Jason Moma as Khal Drogo
Rory McCann as Sandor Clegane
Conleth Hill as Varys
Jerome Flynn as Bronn
Rose Leslie as Ygritte
Michael McEhlhatton as Roose Bolton - I can't get that sinister smile from the Red Wedding out of my head.
David Bradley as Walder Frey
People I would definitely change
Aiden Gillen as Littlefinger - Season 1 Aiden was perfect but ever since that season ended Aiden's performance has went downhill, I don't know what happened but his Littlefinger is now a pantomine villain. I'd bring in Tom Hollander to replace Aiden, he's a terrific actor and was probably the only good thing about those Pirates of The Caribbean sequels.
Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister - Don't get me wrong I like Lena but I just don't think she's that great an actress. We all know who the perfect Cersei is and that's Charlize Theron.
Finn Jones as Loras Tyrell - Sorry ladies I am just not a huge fan of Finn's, I can't take him serious enough to be one of the most gifted swordsmen In Westeros. Not sure who I'd bring in to replace him I'll need to think about that one.
Gethin Anthony as Renly Baratheon - This has nothing to do with Gethin's performance in fact he's a pretty solid actor I just don't like the Renly D & D gave us, he was far too wimpish for my liking. Given the choice I'd replace him with Ben Barnes.
Iwan Rheon as Ramsay Bolton - Controversial. Ever since Ramsay turned on Theon I've just not grown to like Iwan, perhaps I am being premature but I can't see myself changing my mind in the future. As for replacement, come on you gotta go with Cillain Murphy.
Gemma Whelan as Yara/Asha Greyjoy - Nothing against Gemma but she's not the Asha I pictured at all.
Ian Whyte as Gregor Clegane - Conan Stevens nuff said!
People I'd maybe change
Stephan Dillane as Stannis Baratheon - If they keep giving us the Stannis from S3 I could see myself moving Stephan to the "wouldn't change" list. Stephan is a fantastic actor D & D just need to tap his potential. Forced to replace I'd role with Mark Strong, he was the actor I pictured when reading A Clash of Kings.
Kit Harrington as Jon Snow - I like Kit, he's not that bad an actor as some people say, give the kid time to get more experience under his belt. Hmm I'd maybe replace Kit with Francois Arnaud who played Cesare Borgia
Emilia Clarke as Daenarys Targaryen - Some days I love Emilia and some days I hate her. If we continue to see performances from Emilia like the ones she gave us in S3 I'll love her, if we revert back to "WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS" then I'll hate her.
That will do for now. I might edit/add to it later.
Ian McElhinney as Barristan Selmy - We need to see a good scene with Selmy discussing the Targaryen and Baratheon reigns with Dany!
James Cosmo as Jeor Mormont - Why did they exclude his dying wishes ?
Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell
Hannah Murray as Gilly
Dame Diana Rigg as Olenna Tyrell - She's perfect!
Patrick Malahide as Balon Greyjoy
More maybes
Mark Addy as Robert Baratheon - Mark's performance as Robert was amazing I have no issues with him at all. I've added him here only because physically he's not as imposing as I would have expected Robert to be. When I was reading the book I pictured someone like Eric Bana.
Nathalie Emmanuel as Missandei - I just keep thinking of Hollyoaks when she appears lol.
Paul Kaye as Thoros of Myr - Like Nat I just keep thinking of Dennis Pennis when Paul comes on screen.
Clive Russel as Blackfish - This is more of a script problem than acting, I don't like how much of a thug they've turned Brynden into.
Tobias Menzies as Edmure Tully - Tobias is a terrific actor but in my mind Edmure is Damian Lewis.
Elle Kendrick as Meera Reed - I really wanted Sarah Bolger for Meera and I still feel that way after season 3.
Ciaran Hinds as Mance Rayder - To be fair I haven't seen enough of Ciaran's Mance to give a fair judgement but I prefer the original choice of Dominic West even if he is a fool for turning down the role.
Rose Leslie as Ygritte. I absolutely can't stand her portrayal, even though I liked her in the final two episodes of S3. How she delivers her lines, her facial expressions and her body language all rub me wrong.
Gemma Whelan as Yara. Her acting is okay. She's just horribly miscast. Her character should be tough and brutal without actually being a man.
Elle Kendrick as Meera. I can't stand her acting. Totally unconvincing as a competent, tough young woman.
Wilco Johnson as Ilyn Payne. I really dislike his portrayal. I would prefer a menacing presence to over-the-top googly-eyed stares.
Hannah Murray as Gilly. I think her portrayal is all wrong. I feel like she should be sweet, timid and uneducated, not stupid and whiny.
Sebel Kekilli as Shae. She doesn't have much range or the subtle facial expressions her character needs.
Maybe I would. I spent the first two seasons feeling like he was wrong...not his acting. His acting is fine, and I've come to like him in the role. But he just looks wrong to be the offspring of Jaime and Cersei who could somewhat pass for the offspring of Robert and Cersei. He looks more like a Targarean than a Lannister. I just felt like after the big fuss the show made over genetics tattling on people, they should have tried a little harder to find someone who looks the part. Everything about his look is wrong. So not a big issue at all.
For me the only actor I did not like was Asha/Yara at the beginning, she looked wrong, behaved wrong. But she grew on me, I think the show has done an astounding job with the cast so far.
But if I could do some "alternate" casting I was hoping Tricia Helfer could've been Cersei, since I loved her in BSG and she actually auditioned for the role. Plus, I think her and NCW could actually pass for twins.

and also looked like a bad actor but the other one had the same problem...oh wait, didn´t act much.
I´d only recast Daenerys. Maybe with better directing she would improve but this won´t be the case... am I wrong or all her scenes are written always by D&D?
Well anyway that happened with a lot other actors in this show so you can´t blame them for the bad writing or the terrible actor´s directing or the amount of scenes they get in a season.
Um... and I´d recast Ed Tollet, appart from the fact that he wasn´t there much, didn´t like the delivery. Ed Tollet for me will be always Alan Tudyk.
Aiden Gillen it´s a complete mistery to me. He´s so good but he´s a LF´s caricature here. Aaaaaaand again, could be the way they decided to go with this character. Whatever it is, the acting is not good. I look at him and I only see
I would NEVER EVER change Varys or Stannis.
The rest are all great or very good. Hmmm I should say I don´t like Lena Headey a lot either but I do like her interactions with PD. He makes her...lighter.
Oh yes, as Macha said, I love NT too but her Osha needs lotsa directing.

And now that I think of it, I'd recast Maester Aemon. Don't throw tomatoes, as much as I like the actor playing him, he never made an impression on me on *this* show. I've always thought Aemon should be...kinder? Thinner and frailer?
Am I the only one who really likes Aidan Gillen's Littlefinger? LOL, I think his evil voice is fantastic. CHAOS IS A LADA. I can't imagine anyone else saying that.
Oh and because maliti mentioned my baby Ed Tollet, I'm miserable for not having him more on the show, and the actor playing him does make him a bit different from the books, but I like him a lot. Ed from the books reminded me of Marvin, while TV-Ed sounds like he's always fed up with everything around him - just like the Blackfish!

No, I like Littlefinger! He's got a creep factor not many actors can bring to the table.
And yes, I debated putting Maester Aemon on my "maybe" list. He's kind of meh.
If I was given the opportunity to recast one and only one character of the show, my choice would deffinitely be Emilia Clarke as Daenerys, hands down. I don't think she improved this season, on the contrary, I think she got worse. The script got allowed her for abit more room, but she didn't do anything with it. Her deadstare seems to be the answer of every single acting challenge. I think she can do charm and vulnerable, that's why her acting in season 1 seems better, cause the role suits her more. But every other emotion that doesn't envolve a rolleye (which she does pretty well too) is met with a deadstare.
Other than her, I'll think about it and add later.

Gemma Whelan as Yara/Asha Greyjoy - Nothing against Gemma but she's not the Asha I pictured at all. Yes, I have a witness they have made Gemma "butch" as opposed to "sexy". Asha is tough but hot, Gemma not at all . Also out with the Talisa chick, yuck, but killing her off was brilliant on D&D's part, made her likable when she died.

"Hmm I'd maybe replace Kit with Francois Arnaud who played Cesare Borgia" :Lyanna swoons: Wow! I adore Kit, I would not replace him, he has been given shan scripts just like Cat and Robb . I would have Arnaud play Euron though, yep, that'd work. Where is my fan, damn it????
