Ok just watched Ep 1 ... (I know Cary I was supposed to be going to bed !)

The premiss of this is a murder mystery set 6 or so years after Darcy and Lizzie get married.

It's an odd one , but I'm quite enjoying it. Some great Actors and Actresses , Dr who's current assistant as crazy Lydia , the lovely poor girl from North and South as Elizabeth and good old Kevin from Brothers and Sisters , I know I so should learn their real names. Darcy's sister is the crappy sister from the White Queen ..Ha ha !

Anyhoo , I think it's worth a watch , just because it's BBC and well y'know . Make your own minds up :)

Hmm, might give it a try but I'm a bit skeptic about this. If it's a murder mystery and it's good enough, then why does it need famous, already established characters? Feels a bit like cheating, but I might give it a go, since I'm a sucker for the genre.

Wow, SisY! Where to start? Hmmm. KK, I know Kiera (sp?) Knightly is well hated here and with good reason, however, to me, she was Lizzie. This woman is good in this role but seems too old and too frumpy. I also miss MacFadyen terribly as Mr. Darcy, but this one is also a Matthew and was good in the role, not great. Lydia killed me, she was perfect. Georgiana was perfect as well, so was her beau. Did not care for the actor who played Wickum (sp?), he did not convince me to be a womanizer to any degree, nor was he hot like Rupert Friend. I liked it, was glad I saw it, thought it was a fitting sequel to Pride & Prejudice. Lastly, no one can replace Judy Dench as Lady Catherine, I just loved to hate her .

Ah I'm pleased you watched it Sisly , I quite enjoyed it , I think you just had to forget other adaptations.
Lydia was spot on, I thought too. Lady Catharine didn't seem old enough , she must of had some work done
I liked this Darcy and I didn't mind Lizzie either. Why don't American's like Knightly? Have I missed something?

P.S. I'm reading North and South . It's hard going but I'm enjoying it !

SisY, which North and South? John Jakes American Civil War version or the period piece one?

The period piece (Richard yummatige Mr Thornton) Sat and read it all today, very different to the mini series , but I suppose Elizabeth Gaskell is long gone , so couldn't give her input ! Ha ha !

Watched this! I liked the real characters... more closed to the book. And I love Anna Maxwell Martin (Lizzy) since I saw her in...lemme remember... Bleak House and then in South Rider, she´s great. Actually, loved many actors in this miniseries and LOL Terri and Nicola from The Thick of it are there! Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Bennet (spasms spasms), respectively. Hardass Hardcastle I loved too (but can´t remember the name of the actor).

Also liked James Fleet as Mr. Bennet but then he´s my favorite character from the novel.

I really enjoyed some scenes... like that one where Lizzy introduced Mrs. Wickham to Lady Catherine... The way she said it made me laugh.

Didn´t care for the need to fill the plotholes of the novel... I think we all know what would happen... and I can´t think of Austen writing a sequel to this story (Mr. P. Jackson and Mr. Lucas should listen). Thought that was to fill some weird fantasy. I´m perfectly happy with the things I don`t know about Lizzy and Mr Darcy after they married.

So yes, I enjoyed it for the most part.
