I am mighty disappointed. I hoped HBO would drop some GURMrattling spoilers by the finale, but they really didn't. The Shireen thing doesn't count. What sucks is that Martin is very likely going to put something out before Season 6 airs. Be on the look out for Martin to declare that huge door-stoppers aren't working for him anymore and we'll get 400 pages of something early next year. That way he can keep ahead of the show for just a little longer.
Feh.

Don't know about you but there are lots of book spoilers if you didn't pay attention to where Martin's going with them Think about it: Ser Barry dies. Selyse dies. Shireen dies. Stannis dies. All these characters are alive by the end of Dance. If they are both going in the same direction as they always touted, guess what? the show spoiled a lot. However if you paid attention to the books, the only spoiler that is truly a spoiler is Jon. If he really is dead like Kit wants us to believe. Apparently he's not back for next season. I'll take that with a grain of salt.
Yup. And why on earth would Brienne swing her sword at all if she wasn't going to kill him? It's not like her gave her a moving speech that would change her mind.

If Stannis is really dead it shows again what a bunch of truly dreadful writers D&D are. They are just trolling and shocking people since they did the Red Wedding, "What can we do to surprise or confuse our watchers now? Nyahnyahnyah."

Unless Kit isn't coming back because he wargs into Ghost. Which blows the "three-heads" theory out of the water.

But that is GMs MO. So D&D are keeping the spirit alive.

Totally, but besides bad books it also makes bad tv.

If he wargs Ghost, he can't stay forever in him. He'll die. I got my cookies on Mel.
Also, extra deaths I thought about today: Myrcella, Mance. Both alive be the end of Dance. The count is increasing the more I think about it. I think I should stop thinking about it.
That's a new one though, isn't it. Until now all three stated the endgame would be the same but the roads to get there may be different. I wonder what was Martin's reaction.

Not that new. The article you linked is five months old, and the quote they used is older than that. I forget when it first surfaced, probably about a year. If people read every post in every thread at IWC? (and people should), they would be in the know.

You got the wrong person, buster. I didn't link anything, that quote is from Don's article. IF someone would read THE WHOLE DAMN thread (cause people should) then HE would know I didn't link old news. And for the record, Don's article is pretty new. HE didn't link old article either. 8/21/15 says the stamp date on the Huff Post. so this is pretty new. Also, IWC is too big and one cannot be reading the BAshing without getting herself into a huff a bit over the UNFAIRNESS of bashing the same person EVEN when in the CRYSTAL CLEAR cases he's NOT deserving a bashing. My post reads like MARTIN's. He's also capitalizing some words.

I agree with TW here, I don't remember him/them clearly admiting the ending would could be different. Until now they talked about the same ending more or less - and we're not talking here about insignificant plots or characters like Mago.
I have this very odd feeling that GRRM might trash or can a good portion of his current manuscript and start over.
Season 6 was very solid and it's anyone's guess what material was used but I have a feeling most was D&D and not GRRM.
He might have given them broad plot points but the connective tissue came from the show writers.
GRRM is now second guessing himself and might want to add twists on top of what the show will show making his prose even more convoluted and lengthy.
So yeah, the series won't be done till 2025.

I agree. TWOW is 2017, my guess is after season 7. By then the show will have spoiled the entire book barring Aegon and Stoneheart filler plots. He's definitely going to rewrite and rethink the rest of the series, and since book 8 is definitely going to happen he probably won't ever finish his story. And if he will, the end is well over 10 years away.
Not my favourite thing to do, but can you expand on what GRRM would be taking over from D&D besides the "ok, this and that person dies, that one we don't need either, this plot is useless let's get rid of it too."? There's no real connective tissue I have seen this season besides their blunt decisions to just to force their way to their endgame "Lannisters vs the rest" and "White Walker invasion"
Well I am wondering how the large dramatic beats like: Hodors name reveal and death, the battle for Winterfell and the "Septsplosion" would feature. I would be seriously surprised if those were not things that happened in the books.
And if they do, would for example Cersei's sept plot, would it be one chapter in the book or several?
