I agree, everyone is seeing this through heavy,thick nostalgia colored glasses. It is easy for the old fans to get wrapped up in this.

But the Star Wars prequels, the Indiana Jones sequel have proven that slick trailers are no indication whatsoever what the final product will be.

The fact that the series is in new management, does make me cautiously optimistic.

Also John Williams is shit. He stole his themes from real composers, mainly from Wagner.

Hey, the trailer gave me chills. Mostly because of the score. But it's gotta have a story to match. Star Wars and Empire nailed it in the narrative. Jedi had some cool stuff, though it went off the rails in some ways.

What's the story going to be in the next one? I am afraid of a two-hour homage to the original trilogy. Fanservice.

As a musician I would argue that although Williams is a mixed bag and has directly emulated what Orff/Vagner/Dvorak has done, I still wouldn't go so far as to call it plagiarism. I mean sure, you could argue Duel of the Fates is pretty much thematically identical to Carmina Burana, but it is a different piece. It is what it is.

I'll go see the new movie and give it the benefit of the doubt. I've never been a die hard Star Wars fan but I would tend to agree with a lot of them that keeping Ep. 4-6 standalone is still the best way to go.

Let's just hope this isn't another case of Indiana Jones 4. That's all I'm saying.
