Episode 2 thread is now open. And another synopsis:
Spoiler
A who’s who of honored guests turns out for Joffrey and Margaery’s wedding in King’s Landing, but the king’s taste in entertainment rubs many of them the wrong way. Meanwhile, Bronn gives a lesson to an unlikely pupil; Bran’s vision helps map out his journey; Stannis loses patience with Davos; and Ramsay takes a perverse delight in his new pet.
Of course, thank all the Gods that the King is dead I am so glad also that it was not as hard on Tyrion as it was in the book. Was nervous about that. What disturbed me was , sick, sick . Different to see on the screen. Loved Bran's brief scene. Ellaria looked gorgeous, loved their scene with Tywin and Cersei. Loved to see Bronn and Jaime :waterdance: that was a brilliant idea. And Ramsey, that slippery POS, getting by his old man, ugh.

I just wanted a wedding, so the first half (or more) of the episode was just filler to me. Maybe it'll be more meaningful on the rewatch, but I really don't care about Bran and the elf kids or Stannis' creepy wife.
High points were Oberyn vs. Lannisters and Loras vs. Jaime. The Shae and Tyrion scene was painful to watch. And I'm very curious to see whether Shae is really gone.
I'm most curious about what Joffrey's death means for the kingdom. Obviously Margaery is the queen, but that's an empty title for her, isn't it? Joffrey had no heirs, and I'm fairly certain Myrcella can't take the throne. So will Tommen be crowned king? (DON'T ANSWER THAT, PEEPS. Please.)
If that's the case, my initial reaction is that Cersei is responsible for the poisoning. That explains what she got from Qyburn and why she sent Pycelle away. I assume she would be Queen Regent again until Tommen comes of age. The same reasoning would point to Tywin, even though I don't think it was him.
Otherwise, I think the Tyrells, although I'm not sure what the point would be from a political perspective. Margaery doesn't gain anything. Then again, she doesn't end up in scary Joff's clutches. *shudder*
Ugh. I just realized that we'll have more crowing from Team Stannis as though the leech actually had something to do with this. I say no. Just to be stubborn.

The "hunt" scene was terrible and Myranda should just be T&A. She sucks. Ramsay vs Roose was great, the shave was a cop out and a poor way to show how broken Theon has become. Disappointed in ye Georgie boy. I guess the Bolton's don't know the NW and how they don't take part in the the Wars of Westeros to think that B and R would be stowed away up there, come on Roose, you're smarter than that. Team Stannis was a huge letdown. Mel eats, but does she poop? Liked the Oberyn scene with Tywin and Cersei. Indra looked stunning. Bronn and Jaime is nice, but unbelievable that Bronn would be trustworthy not to say anything. Glad we got to hear about the Bank. Not really. Tyrion and Shae. I felt that PD was forcing it there. His acting seemed off. Have to watch again.
The wedding was the best part of the episode for me and I'm glad they spent so much time there. I loved how they set up the death and played it so that unsullied are guessing who did it while book readers can pick up on the clues if you know what to look for.
5/10 for me. In comparison Ep401 was a 9/10.

Doesn't matter who rules next. Everyone knows the throne ends up Shireen's. Everyone.

I know, right? Some clever camera angles gave some good clues.

Bad episode. I keep thinking I don't know what people see in Alex Graves, but oh well. IMO he really doesn't know how to direct his actors. Dinklage was so-so, Myranda was terrible, and Lena was very weak at the end. Also, he has no patience with his shots. Didn't think the writing was that bad actually but everything felt chopped, rushed and some things looked really cheap (Ramsay's chase, Bran's visions, that godawful set design with the Disney lion head, ugh).
BIG points on making it a very tense second half though. You can actually hear wine being poured a couple of times, which was a great little sound effect, and I was about to jump two or three times "here it comes...now! oh...ok wait...NOW is the time! uhm no, better wait some more...ok finally NOW!" And Joffrey's face was fantastic, loved the make-up. However, I would have liked to feel even an ounce of....pity for him? It felt like they went solely for instant sadistic satisfaction, and of course that was to be expected, but I would have liked it to be directed differently. Joffrey felt angry instead of scared, and that didn't seem right or realistic.
Didn't understand why Cersei hates Pycelle so much all of a sudden, but I don't really care. Don't know where they're going with it.
Team Dragonstone's aka The Adam's Family dinner table was actually quite interesting, in terms of their dynamic. Loved that tiny little hint of jealousy shown by Selyse as she talks about Stannis making soup. Heh, making soup. GET IT. Nevermind. Shireen rules everything. First I didn't get what that scene was about, but then when Bran's scene came after it made a bit of sense. I don't know if the WW have their god/s or not, but I'm sensing the two "sides" taking shape. And surprise, both of them are just as bad. But one of them has Stannis pouting and nailing it all the time, so GO TEAM!
Theon and the shaving scene was also quite good. His face was heartbreaking when he found out about Robb.
Oh, forgot to say how that deer saying Hodor was frankly one of the most "out there" moments of the entire series. Can't even tell if I liked it or hated it, but I laughed so much.
Please.)

First the meh, Tyrion and Shae was oddly weak, even Dink! It felt rushed and her crying was just, no.
Bran's scene started ok, I liked him warging and the Reed's explaining what would happen if he warged too much was also strong, but that odd "clipshow" when he touched the tree....what was that? The tree in the vision looked cool, but past TV show clips was an odd choice.
The good, everything at the wedding. It had the right pace and everyone got to shine. I won't knock Graves, editing and directing a ginormous scene such as this would've been a logistical nightmare on the time and budget of a TV show and I feel it shined well.
Despite the clunky scenes, the episode was still quite good in my book and can't wait for more trouble this season.

Three things for now . . Joffs eyes and frothing mouth , fab! I cried at Sansa during the dwarf reenactment, no words, just bloody good acting ! and ... Tommen ! Whoop!

Oh my goodness, i enjoyed the episode but i have to admit that this fucking head was cheap and ridiculous to death, a kind of joke i guess, it must have been done on purpose...
For the rest, i have been hooked up, that's rare enough nowadays, a primary pleasure and a flavour of why i loved that story.
I agree that the Shae-Tyrion moments are quite flat, there's no real chemistry between them ans that's a pity cause Sibel is a great actress who did beautiful things in Europe (no , not the porn stuffs...), Head-on is one of my favourite movie and she really catches the light but in Got, it doesn't match...
My favourite moment was the Dreadfort scenes, Roose is juicy and we saw Fat Walda !
Fat Walda will be the one on the iron throne you sillies...

The one thing that irks me most of the time since the beginning of the season is the subpar performance ( I know i'm prob alone in this but that's how i feel) of Dianna Rigg. I never liked her Olenna but it's getting worse by the episode and she gets more and more lines! ugh... no, please. She's no Charles Dance. Sharp retorts, she can do. Long sentences, no. They always feel so laboured!
Save for that great "marvellous" line to Brienne in ep1, and a few snarky comments last season, all her lines are delivered in such a posy, grandilocuent manner... like a bad poetry recital. They don't feel like real conversation, and they always pull me out of the scene. Her encounter with Charles Dance was painful to watch. Well, I actually cringed at every line she said last episode.

I thought it was done that way to emphasize how crass Joff's idea of "entertainment" is, since that was of his planning, wasn't it?

Yeah, of course it was intentional, my problem with it was that it looked too modern. It simply didn't fit in that world.

I see what you mean, yeah, it was a bit era jarring. There was something about it that looked more plasticky than woody or paper machey, though I doubt it was.

when I was a kid used to watch a german tv show, it was a strange and funny sporty competition. Can´t remember the name now. I remember they use huge props, everything was 10 times bigger than normal things. Probably most of them made of foam. When I saw that lion head in the show I . Was exactly the same. Imma look for the name of that tv show.

this, I fucking hate directors/editors who can't keep a same angle for 15 seconds. This is mostly true for the action/fighitng scenes, which as a result always look botched in Game of Thrones. But there have been many other moments in Thrones where I yelled DUDE STOP SWITCHING THE CAMERA ANGLE, YOU'RE MAKING ME FUCKING EPILEPTIC! I watched all three episodes so far in one go, so I'll need to rewatch if this guy in particular is to blame.
Also Andi did you find that show?

Had to do a little research. German show I watched was called "Telematch" (made it in the 70´s in Germany) and as "It´s a Knockout" was inspired in a french show called "Intervilles" (think that made in the 60´s). And apparently other countries had their own version of it. Competition was between teams from different towns.
I remember lotsa games in the water that were my favorites. It was dubbed into spanish,of course, but you could still hear the german so I learned to count to 10
Found the intro of the show in youtube, but it´s pretty silly and I don`t remember the fucking Disney characters. I adored that show, the games were absurd and sporty and very funny.
