Wait, what? Did you just call me prejudiced? Against Jews? Wow. That's stepping over a line that you should not have crossed, Cary. Totally unacceptable.
I am sorry if you felt I called you prejudiced. I'm feeling that the two of you are ganging up on me, and I still contend that Rygar's original posting, however well-intentioned, can be easily taken to be offensive if I were Jewish, and I was neither insulting nor unkind in my response to him.

It's incredibly upsetting that we're not allowed to discuss stereotyping without being accused of the most despicable sort of prejudice. I'm not ganging up on anyone. Rygar brought up a subject that had occurred to me too, and I think it's worthy of discussion. It's a misstep by the show. Calling people prejudiced to silence them is not okay.

Its only insulting to someone who is blind to the fact that this shit still happens and is not going away. Whether GoT intended to make the Iron Bank appear Jewish is not the issue. The issue is that they did. I really don't care and I was just curious if the fandom is in uproar over it or if they are still bitching about Yara.

Yeah, no. She doesn't have to. Its pretty self evident in the depiction.
Yes, you both do. As far as I can see, it's only self-evident to someone who has a pretty prejudiced view to begin with.
How are supposed to interpret that?
I phrased this extremely badly and deeply regret that. What I meant to convey was, "From an outsider's perspective, it sounds like the criticism is prejudiced, despite the honest intent." But since I didn't convey that, but instead conveyed something entirely different, I totally blew it.

I don't think Gatiss looks particularly jewish. Leaving that aside, I think there is a looong way from talking about the jewish banker stereotype in film or literature (you know, GRRM did it before the show, which actually toned down Tycho a lot) to jumping into discussions about Nazi propaganda and objectification.
I don't understand why we have to pretend that there isn't a Jewish tradition in banking that goes all the way to Antiquity and the Middle Ages and is still very powerful today. If Tycho were a caricature, a greedy and completely ruthless character with no redeeming qualities, then fine, I concede, it would be problematic. But all I saw was an Englishman with a beard and a bit of a long nose, with an impeccable English/Oxford/wutever accent, who simply questioned Stannis as any banker today would question someone who needs a big loan without any real collateral.
To sum up my two cents, I disagree with all of you.
Rhaegar, despite wounding Robert, was struck down with a massive blow from Robert's warhammer, which scattered the rubies encrusted in Rhaegar's armor under the water. Rhaegar died with Lyanna Stark's name on his lips.
How excelllent was Tywin this episode. His lunch scene where Jaime offered to leave the Kingsguard ( is that even allowed? Just leave?) In any case I love how he immediately agreed to Jaime's proposal, Tywin is always brilliant in making anything, tragedy or not work in his favor.
Love it.

Shae's face when Tyrion demands trial by combat...a good bit of acting by Sibel Kikeli. She looks so afraid for him, like she can't keep up the facade. I wonder if Tywin told her Tyrion would be spared, just as he hold Jaime.
Actually, I read an article the other day about how lightening has repeatedly blown fingers off of the Jesus statue in Rio. I guess the Brazillians have better superglue than the Braavosi.
