Watched the first season and didn't find it that bad, i promise i'll catch up to share this journey with you lord Storm. And gosh this Mark Ryder is really cute.
I found out i have to catch up with Boardwalk too (stopped at season 3) in order to not be crucified by Bex's new best friend.I have no choice but bingewatch the whole cause this story is so fucking complex that i might lose a good half (please tell me Margaret becomes less freezing) watching directly the fourth (in fact i already know i would lose a good half since i tried last summer, i managed to watch it because the light and costumes are so gorgeous that i could look at this as an endless Hammershoi painting).
Evil dead as a serie , i'll give a watch too, this has been a cult movie for me and my dad (cause yes my dad made my B movie culture , he is nerdier than most of my friends).
Oh and even if the last episodes of The Affair are far less good than it's first episode i go on and i also started Olive Kitteridge.

Borgia season 3 is on Netflix (aka EuroBorgia). This is by far the best of the shows about the Borgias, and Tom Fontana is doing an awesome job. And the acting is still awful but the sets are wonderful. And Rodrigo/Pope Alexander is so much better on this show than the other. And Lucrezia is still hysterical to watch her awfulness. Even if her accent is getting a tad better.
Liked the first ep (of the first season, Cary don't get too excited!) 8:40 min of first ep and I almost had a squee moment because Sam Tarly is named Cardinal Giovanni di Medici.
EDIT: forgot to mention the shock of having all those accents! I googled it afterwards and no wonder since it is such a vast co-production. Some of them are trully jarring.

For a moment reminded me of The Wire for the complexity, tho this story is very small in comparison, of course but there´s something similar in the politics of it all, the morals... yes, it´s a bit pretentious, who cares. I watched Jurassic shark too so i`m balanced. If I remember correctly one of the things I loved about the The Wire was how Simon talked shit about hierarchies, they were all stupid and corrupt and vicious. The same happens here and it´s really great.
I started watching it and thought Fargo immediately.

Very interesting indeed, I saw the first episode a couple of months ago and it was the best new show I watched in recent years. Then I forgot to keep on watching! I will finish this show and share some thoughts with you Cary, though I don't think it reminded me in anything of Fargo. I think the humour in this show is more subtle and the characters are more realistic than the ones in Fargo (which were very of the top for me, but it fitted in nicely for that show).

This is so me. I have all the episodes here somewhere, I just forgot about it.
Is The Affair any good? I think someone here mentioned it, maliti or AK?
The affair is interesting and fun. It's like a train wreck. You see the impending disaster, but you can't look away. It's told from his and her POV, which is so good. The truth is clearly somewhere in between, and it's fun to imagine how it must have actually happened. The police interrogation angle is a little annoying, but I guess they need a tool for exposition. I have no idea if it reflects life on rural Long Island at all, but it paints a lovely picture.
I like that they're exploring issues of gentrification a little bit. It's fascinating and heartbreaking to see the past, present and future collide in small towns that are coveted by those with financial means and how the people of the town react to those pressures.

I think it's because it's a CANAL+ production and meant to be originally for French audiences, so all the dialogue is going to be dubbed to begin with. Because after three seasons, you start to forget that Dad is American, Juan is Spanish, Cesare is English and Lucrezia is German.

No way! Juan speaks English almost like Antonio Banderas o_O I was positive he's Spanish! Oh, Lucre's mom I call Italian. She says Lucrezia exactly like Italians do. Maybe I'm wrong in that too!
EDIT: wait! The mom might be Spanish too! it has the Spanish "S" pronounciation. lol it really is a co-production.
I'm going to say that the extremely fast "present butt for doggy position" with not so much as a by- your- leave (Juan/Collona's wife) was a bit shocking especially when it ended with murder, but I did appreciate the age old experience of going South that Rodrigo has. That's all for my Borgia sex talk of the day. Boys, that was only the first ep and I didn't type half of it!!!

Anyone seen Agents of Shield?! Is it worth checking it out or is just riding the Avengers wave? Info would be appreciated. EDIT: Nevermind! I found the thread

Watching first ep, Macha. Hope it is good because I heard they invested a lot. I have to ask though, do these Netflix series run at the same time with whatever cable channel shows them? Because House of Cards was not on anything just showed up on Netflix if I recall correctly, yet Peaky Blinders was on some TV network and only after Neflix streamed it. For season 2 there was a lag of about a week I think. Just curious if anyone knows.
I liked the first ep of Marco Polo. Sets and sites are amazing. Bet it was shot on location. Intrigue looks ok so far and so do the fighting sequences. The backstory was a bit superficial but I'll give it a bit of time. Oh, I recognized the blind fighting master who's teaching Marco Polo the cool moves. I just can't place him.
Yeah, the cinematography is gorgeous. I really like it.
Actors? Meh. Story? Meh. The characters have some potential, but everything seems a bit weak overall. They shouldn't have forced all these asian actors to speak English, they're so concentrated on getting their lines right that they forget to act. I hate it when that happens, but I can't blame them. They just need a better director and a better script.
But since Mr. Macha always liked Marco Polo, we'll stick with it just for the fun of it.

I gave up halfway episode two, wasted money if you ask me. TW, you should check if it's a Netflix original, like House of Cards/Marco Polo/Orange is the New Black. Peaky Blinders is made by the BBC.
Checked. Netflix Original. Didn't know Peaky Blinders was made for BBC. Now I also know why the martial arts fighting sequences looks so familiar. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon guy is involved. Plus the Blind Master guy is Tom Wu (again a familiar face). Interesting fact: they made it for "binge watching". How about that! Apparently "binge watching" is a new style of series now
Watched The red tent, ep 1. Not great but is Jacob. God that man.

Forgot to say that the cast in this series is the most ridiculous I saw in my life.

Episode 2. I think I need a padrecito Cary. Terrible.
btw, it´s true that this year Homeland was so much better but nothing compared with season 1.
The Affair, fucking hell, this has a second season and I already hated it. Is not bad but it´s dishonestly slow.

Ugh, I thought this show would be good but... bleh. The whole different perspective thing was interesting for the first two episodes at most, now it just confuses me to no end, and the story doesn't have the weight to support all the effort it requires from viewers to fill in the gaps.
And sorry but these two, as much as I like them separately, have zeeeero chemistry, and the writing doesn't help either.
She's very good, but I'm constantly laughing at Dominic West and his sleazebag chaacters. His character isn't likeable even in *his* version of the story.
I think I have two or three episodes left, can't imagine what a second season would be about.
Finished watching Borgia and I think the show definitely got better during the third season. You get used to everyone having different accents after a time.
I also appreciated the show going forward after the death of Pope Alexander/Rodrigo Borgia. I found what happened to Cesare and Lucrezia after that so enjoyable.
Also, a very twist ending. But thankfully,
Spoiler
Lucrezia and Cesare never have sex. This despite the Canal+ Season 3 French promo very much indicating that something naughty was going to happen.
I think, overall, this series was infinitely better than The Borgias, which I couldn't even be bothered with for Season 3.
Oh, and there's this wonderful piece at the end by all of the actors about the disposition of each of their characters and their heirs.

I watched The Missing with James Nesbitt, about a couple whose son goes missing on their holiday. Read some great things about it but it's a very generic cliche-ridden abduction story. The acting and directing aren't good either (especially the journalist role, soso bad) so I suggest you people skip this show. I went through 8 hours of that show before the very final minute finally delivered a fantastic scene, not worth the 8 hours.

Watched half of the first season of The Fall this weekend. The Brits have a knack for the kind of crime drama I like. The series is dark. True crime kind of dark. The almost nonexistet soundtrack, I mean there is but just soft ominous segments, is scary when used. Also the cuts are good: from Gibson who's the investigator to the serial killer and back are so good. Jamie Dornan acts like nothing I've seen before from him. And I'm thrilled to see Gillian Anderson in top form. Haven't seen her on TV since X- Files.
The last man on earth? someone watched? Will Forte. It´s a good premise for a show. I lmao in the first scene and slob Forte was very funny but after watching ep 2, I sense this show will bring gender related issues and that will bore me to death. I just hope that will prove to be wrong but have no clue to where this show is going.
Spoiler
I guess not really the last man after all
