"A plane carrying players from a Brazilian football team headed to Colombia for a regional tournament final, has crashed on its way to Medellin's airport, killing at least 75 people.
Police officials said that seven passengers had initially survived but one later died in hospital.
The entire Chapocoense football team - and an accompanying entourage of staff - were among 72 passengers and nine crew on board the aircraft. Local reports said a large number of journalists were also on the plane."
I`m so sorry Dolan, woke up with the news today. What a tragedy. I can´t even imagine the people in that little town. Here they saying only 5 survived from 81 people. Only one journalist from 22 that were on board of that plane. Medellín is a very dangerous airport. So sorry.
RIP Chapecoense.

They had a few players that also played in my team in the past, one of them came from our youth team and i have good memories with their late coach working with our team. We beat our local rivals 5 to 1 and 7 to 3 in two of the most spectacular matches i've watched. Also a former iconic player (from my and other clubs and the National Team) from the 70's was there as part of the press staff. Not forgetting all the other who lost their lives there, of course, but just some interesting info.
So i'll remember the great stories and the beautiful history they wrote in our soccer. Tragic stuff.
Ps.: Atletico Nacional has request Commebol to award the Copa Sudamericana title to Chapecoense: http://www.atlnacional.com.co/ultimas-noticias/campeon-de-la-sudamericana-015298

This is just terrible. I mean, it's no more tragic than any other plane crash that erases entire families, but the thought of an entire team wiped out brings to mind empty locker rooms, a field waiting for the squad to play on it, barren stands, etc. I was relatively OK at the Holocaust Museum in DC until I saw the room with all the shoes in it. Like, the actual shoes of slaughtered people and some of them were quite small.
Anyway, I came up with a joke about how the survivors ruined the mountain's clean sheet, but it's too soon.

Yes, yes I read about the colombian players. I hope Commebol won´t behave like douches, because that´s what they are.
Was just watching all the fans at the stadium. Kids crying. Very sad.
ATAT: yes, all plane crashes are terrible but this one not only will make people remember for years because they were the very happy underdog going to play the final and all that goes with that or that they were sons and daughters and fathers and moms and blahblah, they were also all young, or most of them, and young deaths, as you noticed too, are always really sad. And they were travelling to play the final for the southamerican cup. A little team like that. Is not that this plane crash is worse than others, we know, but feels different. I live in a small town, (though Chapecó is not small), and I played sports most of my life and that kind of "miracle", a little team doing so great, it will always be inspiring. And tragic when ends like this.

I cried when I read the news about Peter Vaughan. The outpouring of love from the cast and crew also made me super emotional. Rewatches are going to hurt a bit more now.
This man, who played Maester Aemon, was wonderful in this role. One of those "lesser characters" who stole every scene he was in. Working right up until the end as well, bless his heart. I'm sure the GOT cast is heartbroken.

Oh, , , , I loved her. Poor woman. I read on-line that some woman was sitting behind her on that flight and tweeted or something that Princess Leah had quit breathing and they were making an emergency stop of the plane to get her off at the next airport. Apparently, it wasn't enough, ugh. Carrie did come out not too long ago and admitted that she and Harrison had an affair while filming Star Wars and he was married at the time. Although I don't condone that, I understand it. Somehow, I secretly hoped that they would get together off screen. Messed up mom, messed up dad, bi-polar and drug issues. The poor woman could not find peace. I hope that she has obtained the peace she did not have in this life.

I loved her too and the character she gave life to was my idol for so long when I was growing up. And while she was not in the spotlight and her career was not all over the newspapers I haven't forgotten her and kept reading about what she goes through and looked for bits of news. I can't believe this stuff.
I feel like they put everything bad in one year. Is that possible? I hope so. It's just doesn't seem possible for so much to go wrong in one single year!
I loved her too. She was a good movie heroin for a girl. "No light speed?"

Just can't believe it. She wanted to go be with her daughter. I grew up with this.

So sad to lose Chris Cornell. Not a Eddie Vedder fan but I liked Chris. I thought his range was fantastic. I was a fan of his higher end as opposed to the lower, grungy sound. I called my college boyfriend "Spoonman" after one of Chris' songs, not because of the drug reference but because he liked to spoon . Liked "Hunger Strike" because of Chris' vocals; wish he did the whole song alone. "Black Hole Sun" was great. Sympathies for his poor kids.

So sad for the UK today. Losing your people and 007. Moore is my fav Bond.

Roger Moore was my sentimental favorite. Like a lot of people he was my first Bond. But, when you get down to it, Sean Connery was the best Bond with Craig hot on his heels.
I like Pierce Brosnan. But he was a shitty Bond.

This very handsome and talented writer, playwright, director, actor and Pulitzer winner died last thursday. I feel like a widow again. Damnit, men, stop dying. I loved this man, his short stories and plays. Damnit Sam Shepard.
Saw him for the last time playing the wonderful/awful father in Bloodline. Seeing him next to Ben Mendelshon was a great pleasure. Sad news.
(think this one is a song too).
"If you were still around
Shreds of dread
If you were still around
I'd turn you facing the wind
Bend your spine on my knee
Chew the back of your head
Chew the back of your head
'Til you opened your mouth
To this life"
