I am so glad they added action since the books had NONE, I can't believe I am so excited for a season based on the worst stinker of a book...I guess I trust D&D after they so wonderfully said "fuck this" to all the boring stuff Sansa got into.

Nah, Don ADwD didn't stink. Quite good. But that scene off the books can be a little gem on the television screen. Especially putting Jon Snow there.

Yes it did stank. Not as much as AFFC, mind you, but it really is a giant turd of a book.
Where teh gurms manages to spend more than a THOUSAND pages and not get ride of the plot know he wrote himself into.

Well, too bad he wont finish the series and adwd is the last piece of crap we'll have from AsoFail, in with a bang and out with a wimper.

At least we'll have the show to see and end to this, which is not quite as good as the first three books, i'll grant you that, but it's better than nothing.

At worst AFFC is 3/5 ADWD 4/5.

Folks on this site just don't know the definition of bad.

In order to be bad, ADWD/AFFC would have to improve A LOT.

You also have Knights of the Vale riding into Winterfell.
Sansa in Winterfell is confirmed people.

I think what impressed me the most is that this trailer clearly laid out the major conflicts for this season, and they didn't seem boring! Cersei-High Sparrow (which was barely a conflict in the books), Stannis vs the Boltons, the Harpy vs Dany, Jon and the Wildlings. There was also an obvious focus on insurrection and populism. There was a clear sense of all the arcs of the season, and it all looked good.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say yes, all except for Arya's. I get the feeling we're looking at the new Bran here, but it could be that they just don't want to spoil too much of her arc and transformation. We'll see.

Hmm, I suppose that is possible. I don't expect that to be a great story line, but I think the fact that Arya is a more interesting character, and that she'll have Jaqen to play of, will mean it won't sink the Bran levels of boring. It being faster paced than her story line in the books should also help things

I think I see Brienne doing some stuff, maybe she goes on her search for Sansa after she failed with Arya, maybe she will still follow Nible Dick type guy on some lame quest...but I hope not.

Brienne is quite a loose end. Interestingly, it shows her standing in the snow. I wonder where she is? Maybe she follows Sansa to Winterfell.

Yeah I am drawing a blank there, I just assume D&D know everyones endgame so they can skip and fast forward as they see fit.

Craziest trailer we've seen in a while. I also like how they're for the most part not showing too much from the Hardhome scene. I get the strong feeling there's going to be some Rattleshirt/Tormund/Jon/wildlings contention which will be a long scene and after all of that, just when the viewers think the immediate threat is over...the whole thing goes off the deep end.

My first thought was that Melisandre is sacrificing Shireen in that scene. Though that would make Stannis a monster, and I'm not sure they would go down that road. But they did hint at that last season.

I think Selyse is joining the Stannis march. Or is just left behind in the snow while he's moving on (?) Stannis in the tent with the Red Woman so Mel is probably with Stannis' army while Jon, Tormund and the rest are for Hardhome.

For Brienne I was thinking she might actually be the one to save Sansa from escaping Winterfell when everything goes wrong. Sansa won't trust Theon. She knows about him killing Bran and Rickon, I don't think she'd trust him. But she could trust Brienne! Plus Brienne and Pod look like are in a foot deep of snow outside some gate. So who knows, maybe it will be them who take on Mance/Theon/WildlingWives saving fArya plot. Just speculating here. But where on earth IS Baelish then? Did he leave Sansa at WF and went to KL?

For TV show purposes I assume Mance is in the Melisandre BBQ this season. They have hinted at Shireen being a target however they have also had Stannis verbally defend her against Selyse. That and as Davos is one of the true "good" characters on the show I guarantee he would easily risk his life to get her out of there.

I am on topic, Sansa going to Winterfell is the equivalent of Shia LaBouf swining with monkies in The Crystal Skull.

Anyway, where is Selyse on the ground? I must have missed it.

I'm thinking Sansa's gonna sub for Manderly. There's no way they're not using such a tasty storyline after they've set it up and all. And given the lack of Manderly casting and all that talk of revenge. The question is for me is, how will Sansa in Winterfell affect Theon's story arc?

ps Stannis looking hot!
pps Brienne in the snow

Tir, I think Brienne will surprise us all! Except for the North where on Earth would she be in that snow?! Stannis was a rockstar. I loved him in all his trailer shots humpy I mean Dillane & Stannis. Or maybe just Dillane (?) I expect big things from him and I cannot yet figure out what battle he'll be in. But it looks like he WILL be in one! :frekout:

funny how Al is already condemning the season even before it started, it's like hes a psych or something! I think they'll probably send Stannis straight to Winterfell, so we may have a little Winterfell showdown with Sansa, Roose, Ramsay, Theon and Stannis all in the same place.

Well, we know Littlefinger goes to King's Landing relatively early on, so my guess is this: Roose asks Cersei for help against Stannis, and she summons Littlefinger. Meanwhile, Sansa has a run in with BriPod that doesn't end well for the duo. Littlefinger returns with news that the crown commanded the Vale to join the Boltons against Stannis- which pisses off Sansa. Then we get the scene where L convinces her that he has a secret plan to avenge the Starks (specifically Catelyn) from the first trailer. Then they go North and assume the Manderly/Dustin role with Sansa staying undercover as Alayne- not knowing that Theon is still alive and with them. Brienne follows the Vale crew to Winterfell in search of Sansa and ends up running into Stannis. Theon eventually takes the leap off of the walls with Sansa, perhaps after thecBoltons find out Littlefinger's plan and kill and flay him (why not?).

You don't need to be a psychic to know what D & D's limits are. They already showed me in S4 that their fan fiction is really poor and brings down the quality of the show. Sending Sansa to Winterfell is stupid, sending Jaime to Dorne is moronic, sending Varys to tag along with Tyrion is another example of their need to shoe horn in characters because they don't understand the power of keeping them off screen.

And I am still scratching my head over the exclusion of Arianne despite the fact Dorne is going to feature. And don't give me the whole "oh she doesn't effect the big picture" malarkey cause the shows shines at being an ensemble piece and she's a great character!

How do we know sending Sansa to Winterfell is stupid when we have no idea why she goes there?

Also, Arianne, a great character?teehee

It's stupid because book Littlefinger would never in a million years risk putting Sansa anywhere near Roose Bolton. Nor would he put Sansa right in the middle of a bloody siege between Stannis and Roose. It's another example of D & D's stupidity.

Well, at this point D&D know more about the endgame of the show than anyone else, who knows, maybe Brienne does go to the North and Jaime in Dorne. Maybe D&D only fast forwarded through unpublished material, but there no way to know....or worry too much about it.

Al, you are gonna give yourself a stroke.

Arianne was one of my least favorite Dorne characters. That may not be a popular opinion, but it's how I feel.

1. How does he know Stannis is going to attack Winterfell?
2. LF risked putting Sansa near Lysa, who he knew was crazy. He isn't infallible.

Yeah Jaime suddenly has the desire to visit Dorne even though Brienne is whisking him off to meet Stone Heart, ok then.

D & D are making up their own journey to the finish line. God help us all.
