But there were 13 in the last season's WW council thingy. I think all of them have the power to transform babies into WW. Also, the Night's King himself was a full grown human, LC of the NW. So apparently grown ups can be turned somehow. Doesn't bode well for Jon Snow. I think NG has a little bit of a crush on him...

I think they're going to set Stannis up against the holy trinity Jon/Dany/Tyrion

He was never going to settle for anything less than the throne so it was bound to go that way anyway.

Super curious if Shireen gets burnt at the Wall what is the purpose of the sacrifice? Stannis is snowed in, and Mel doesn't see him in her fires. So she has no idea he needs help unless he sent her a message. On the other hand, Jon is dead. So: will Mel burn Shireen to bring back Jon? Cause she sure doesn't know about the kiss of life. Books never have her meet Thoros of Myr so... Or will she sacrifice Shireen to help Stannis, assuming he's sending word he's stuck somewhere?

I think her burning to bring back Jon is likely. But it's also possible that she joins Stannis after he wins at Winterfell and she's burned for some other reason.

Also, are we going to get Doran's whole "Fire and Blood" spiel in the end? They didn't really give much away about his plans.

In the "inside the episode" it seems the burning of Shireen is also that will happen in the next pook. Wonder how that will work as she is in a different location than the tv series.

Well she didn't exactly TAME her beast .. and it went a little Harry Potter at the the end ... but I felt overwhelmed at Tyrion's joy.
The burning question is... Grey scale ?
Jorah touched Dany ?

From what I understand only the "scales" are infectious. So the area on his forearm would be the danger zone, his uninfected fingers would be fine for now.

Cosca, I don't think Stannis survives Winterfell. I just don't see it. He's outnumbered, he's totally tired and on top of it the show preview shows us he is laying siege to WF. Roose and Ramsay have to be struck by lightning or kill themselves in order to lose the North. The only way the whole thing will work is if Sansa opens the gates from the inside and the Boltons simply fall asleep and get slaughtered in their sleep by the raggedy Baratheon army that's left. I guess that could work. HOWEVER, Iwan went on record apparently to say that Ramsay is here for the future season. So... Not sure if my Sansa from the inside scenario is valid. Speculation freakout I LOVE SPECULATION! DOENS'T EVERYONE?!

To finish my comment which I realize I didn't really I think Stannis is dead after Battle of Ice in the books. I don't think Mel will burn Shireen for Stannis. This might be like the Sansa/Jayne Pool storyline consolidation.

Yup, Melly Sanders did say "I saw myself in Winterfell in the flames". She didn't say Stannis was there too.
Yeah I think Stan wrote his death sentence last night.

Maybe Ramsay the prick might survive, but if one Bolton falls it might be Roose.

I don't see how Stannis is going to lose the Battle of Winterfell when he just received a massive coin injection from the Iron bank. He's got the funds now for a Westeros campaign.

Can't wait to see Dany have diarrhea next week.

Episode 9 confirmed my suspition that Melisandre will burn Shireen to resurrect Jon. I love book spoilers.

Question is, now, what will happen to Jon in the show? FTW was set up to death with Olly (I agree with Al on that), so it's happening. Likely the final scene of episode 10, right after the Varys massacare.

Got Stannis on the brain today.  So, is this a "sacrifice one for the good of the many" (i.e. Tywin's insane rant trying to justify the Red Wedding) thing that he did with his daughter? Or has he become a religious zealot? I can't figure it out.  Is he really drinking the Kool-Aide here? He's been burning people for a while now, starting with his trusted adviser on the beach.  I just don't think he is redeemable at this point, either way.

Stannis vs Dany/Tyrion could be, Jon is out of the question IMO.

Is it possible that Stannis loses the battle in the books but wins in the show and goes on to replace Aegon as Dany's final antagonist? Because I was thinking they'd just have Dany vs Cersei.

And yeah- if he was ever going to settle down and let someone else take the Throne, after his big sacrifice in episode 9 he will fight tooth and nail to the bitter end: or it would have been for nothing, which is probably too terrible a thought to bear.

Olly is only a "set up to death" because you know the outcome.  There is no way a person who hasnt read the books would know for sure that Olly will stab Jon to death or get that from what the show has provided.  It is obvious Olly is pissed but so is 90% of the Watch.  Something is afoot but to guess that a massive Caeserian mutiny is afoot?   No way Wun Wun.

True, I guess. It's hard to judge as a Sullied, but rrrrrr. The good thing is that they are actually going by the books and not making the mutiny purely about the Wildling situation (otherwise Thorne wouldnt have opened the gate). Which means the Pink Letter is in. Which means the Stannis vs Ramsay fight will end ambiguosly, just like it did in the books.

I hope Brienne and Sansa/Theon at least get proper conclusions if not Stannis. That Theon scene in front of the Heart Tree, I wants it. I wants it now!

Methinks Roose might eat it, because how do you make Ramsay a bigger prick? By making him Lord.

Oh my god!!! LOL! D&D shamelessly spoiled that Shireen's burning happens in the books in the Inside the Episode. This is the second huge spoiler the show has done after revealing the Night's King in season 4. There are a few more implied spoilers, such as the Littlefinger situation, but nothing like this.

The Night's King was a spoiler?????????????? I always figured The Wight Walkers would have some sort of leader or force driving them.

Don't think so. Ramsay has far outlived his due, and the only thing left for him in the near future is the battle, the Pink Letter and gruesome, satisfying death. Whether by Stannis's hand or by Littlefinger. He really has nothing more to give to this story. Roose on the other hand is smart and calculating, and he hasn't peaked yet.

What I think will happen: the wintery winds stop because of the sacrifice (supposedly) and everything is in favor of Stannis. The castle is under siege. Then Sansa makes the escape with Theon and kills Myranda with a corkscrew. Hopefully Theon gets his scene in front of the tree, but he probably won't (and fuck that, if I might add) and has a major role in the grand escape. Ramsay decides to attack Stannis, and cliffhanger. Then the Pink Letter.

Either that or Brienne kills Stannis.

Who intercepts Theon and Sansa? Either Stannis or Brienne. I want to see Sansa and Stannis together... but I don't think that will happen. Otherwise her escape wouldn't change anything in the long term. Because whether Stannis wins or loses, she'd end up back in Winterfell. The alternative is that Brienne takes her to the Wall or something.

In short, I have no fucking idea.

I didnt think that, and the fact that said leader is confirmed to be the Night's King has a lot of bearing for the Others and their background. More than we think, probably.

Need to go over the Night's King story from the books. There has to be something there that we're missing.
I'm guessing Sam will read about it.

Al, in the show the capital investment that the IB made in Stannis has already paid off for the Baratheon storywise. Stannis had no army and no money for one after Blackwater. The story made sense, it was properly set up. I don't think he has a money plot armour. As for the book, if you really think about it, Tycho Nestoris may have looked for Stannis in the North, like any good banker would after being denied the interest by the Lannisters, but the point is Martin emphasis fell eventually on the deal IB made with the NW. We still don't know anything about what deal he struck with Stannis. We only know they meet. Maybe Stannis dies before he even succeeds in taking advantage of the monies.

Let's discuss the shitload of stuff they have to fit into the finale:
1- post Pit Meereen
2- Dany diarrhea and Dothraki
3- Jon sending Sam to Oldtown
4- Stannis vs Ramsay
5- Sansa's escape with Theon?
6- Brienne with Stannis or Sansa or both, fuck if I know
7- Arya dressing as a whore and killing Trant with Needle, and the reprecussions in the House of Black and White
8- Cersei confessing and the Walk of Shame
9- Doran's speach. I mean, come on. What's the fucking point in including Dorne at all if you cut Arianne and reduce Doran to a Lannister supporter?
10- Varys massacare
11- Pink Letter and For the Watch

How in the name of Arya's clam will they get it done?

2 - Noooooooooooooooooooooo! Not the Dany diarrhea! I mean come on now Jent. There's no Pale Mare in Meereen so far in the show. Let's not give Benioff & Weiss any ideas. So that's out. She will meet the Dothraki though.

4 - We've seen Stannis say they will lay siege to WF but how battle will they actually show, I don't know.

7 - Arya still has the Thin Man to kill, doesn't she? Wonder if she's going to do both Meryn and him.

10 - Don't think we get the Varys massacre.

I'm thinking Arya, Cersei, The Wall's FTW and WF will be the big scenes. The WF will get complicated though. I'm betting on 30 min airtime just for them (Stannis, Sansa, Theon, Brienne & Pod, Ramsey & Roose).

4- Stannis vs Ramsay ( Stannis vs Roose?)
5- Sansa's escape with Theon? (yes)
6- Brienne with Stannis or Sansa or both, fuck if I know ( no idea either)
7- Arya dressing as a whore and killing Trant with Needle, and the reprecussions in the House of Black and White (yess)
8- Cersei confessing and the Walk of Shame ( yessss!)
9- Doran's speach. (I think we will get it, he will probably give the sandsnakes assignments)
11- Pink Letter and For the Watch ( will this be the final shot? I hope so hahah )

I can see Doran's speech getting cut/delayed, and I have a bad feeling Vary's killing Kevan (maybe Olenna?) will get cut as well. Don't think Brienne will encounter Stannis in the finale but I can see her trying to break Sansa free.

You've all forgotten about the Sand Snakes and Myrcella. I can see Jaime, Myrcella and Trystane being ambushed on their way to King's Landing, the question I have on my mind is whether they'll make Bronn go out Oakheart style?

no Oh, Al! you're piling up on the stories. It's true, I completely forgot the Dorne stuff. And for the first time I can say in a crackpot form: Trystane is Arianne! and it is true nonetheless.

Interesting question Yvy, how DID Shireen get that from a doll? The doll doesn't really have a specific "affected/infectious" area. Do we know if Greyscale is bacterial infection, viral infection, or just straight up magic? Bigger question is how was she cured?
