How in the world could you ever get Abyss and Wimsey confused?
Whatever anyone said about Boardwalk Empire aside, those two couldn't be more different, at least from where I'm sitting.
Anyway, ever since I heard Birgitte Hjort Sørensen was going to be in the show, I've been interested in seeing it.

did anyone laugh at Ray Romano's Jewish character comment in the airplane?! I thought it was completely hysterical. "When we hear about diligent Germans, we go in the attic and start a diary. Too soon?" And Lester Grimes was the shit!!! THAT is the blues. I hate those fuckers who crushed his windpipe and broke his legs. Really like Bobby's everything.
Just put this on. Fucking New York Dolls. FUCKING. NEW. YORK. DOLLS.
I knooooooooooooooooow!
Started watching this morning and for some reason couldn´t remember the song. I love this song who are they, who are they? and then it hit my stupid head and
I love this show. And yes, it is a fucking Scorsese movie but that is what makes it great. There´s a script ffs, great dialogues, classic scenes!!!

I saw someone complain it was like a cartoon version of the hippie era.
Um, this is set as the hippie era is sputtering out, and I didn't even see anyone who looked like a hippie.
I didn't like the whole exchange with the guy who was supposed to be Robert Plant, but I'll definitely watch the next episode.

Same here. A pity. There´s always something, of course. I thought some scenes were a bit off too but I don`t mind.

Well Robert Plant was a dick head so there's that. However the guy who played Peter Grant, although not rotund, definitely had grants way of speaking and mannerisms down pat. Same with the guy who played Robert Plant. However I did think I was watching David Johannsen on stage as well as Bo Diddley. I was actually floored by this episode.

The difference is, unless someone is very into Zeppelin, they don't necessarily know what Peter Grant looked like. Lots of people know what Plant looked like. I actually thought it was supposed to be a Plant-esque character, and that was fine, but once I realized it was actually supposed to be Robert Plant, I thought it was kinda lame.

Ok this interview with Winter just made me more curious about Olivia Wilde's character. She's "the heart of the show" says the interviewer.
Also two interesting things about depicting the rock monster bands of that age: first is that "Rolling Stones" are not in even though that period was big for them because it felt "incestuous" and the other is how some reacted to their portrayal - "lemme read the script" Wonder if Peter Grant approved of his outburst about Polygram buying American Century Bet he did.
EDIT: shoot, forgot to put the interview link! http://deadline.com/2016/02/vinyl-terence-winter-interview-mick-jagger-martin-scorsese-hbo-1201700791/

I am hooked. I think they nailed it with the story on everyone so far. I really liked the flashbacks to wilder times showing how Richie and Dev used to be before in contrast to how they are now. Sound, music, smooth transitions and excellently filmed and acted. Oh, and the bath scene hot.
Loved how realistic it's showing off the time and stereotypes that go with it: "You're a girl, and a secretary, hence you can't be a A&R staff", "Bring the coffee", "Who was that black actor in Pippin"asks Scott the horrible slapping Richie's secretary's butt, who only gets asked because she is black. And so forth. They don't shy away to show how we failed in some things socially.
What else: Richie goes to see Grimes! And it looks like there are other murders around town. I do think Buck Rogers will complicate things long term. It will come up.
It sorta kinda vaguely feels like a Mad Men sequel to me (which i adored), with the soundtrack amped up eleven notches. The Bruce Lee scenes were amazing, really loving it so far.
I liked, it was fun. Liked first one better, though.
One thing bothers me and I usually don´t care about it but somehow the worst part of this show till now are women The bitchy wife or the stupid shallow daughter or the tramp, etc etc We´ll see what happens with Juno Temple´s character although she´s still too much of a character to feel better than the others, idk, just saying. Love the introduction and love love the music.
Ry is seizing his opportunity to talk shit about Robert Plant. Because he´s jealous of the hair. Just say it.

Lol peep, no Plant was just a whiny bitch who can not sing. Great cock, however.
Really liked this episode. Loving Bobby. Seeing a more complete actor with Richie as opposed to what he did with Gyp in Boardwalk. Obvi loved the Warhol and Velvet Underground stuff. The intertwining of the music has me floored. Loved how they show scenes of musicians.
That scene with Devon driving???? Fuck man.
Oh and lets hear it for Vinnie Delpino (hey, Mrs H). Great scene with the Nasty Bits.

I see what you're saying about the women, but unfortunately, that's how women are viewed, at least for the most part, in that world. Wives are almost always viewed as the ball and chain, and if you're a woman working in that industry, it's almost always automatically assumed you're either fucking someone, have fucked someone, or are about to fuck someone, or you wouldn't have a job.

If you mean when she forgets the kids at the diner, yep. My favorite! I liked everything about that whole sequence. Song was amazing and with lyrics that matched the feeling of the scene to a T. Can't remember right now who or what song but it made an impression on me at the time.
I liked the Alice Cooper bit Vince from Arizona His image good. The boa on Clark looked about as scary as it could be!
I cannot believe Galasso would come and see Richie . That's Mafia he's shaking hands with. I wish Richie wouldn't be involved with that shit Bah, he's already down for murder with the Buck guy and boy, I didn't think that's going to resurface this soon. I am so excited Lester Grimes is in for the long haul. The sound is amazing at every turn.
The only downside for me is that the ep was slower than the others so far. But I do think they try to balance the characters' storylines.
Edit: "Fucks like a dolphin" I almost choked. That's because of all the emoji's I put on my mobile messages and the debate about the dolphin sex

Yes, it was slower than the others but I don`t mind that and as I don´t care for boobs thought Devon is not an interesting character at all. She´s a bit of a snooze and the actress is too. Without Alice Cooper (and didn´t like all of it though I hope it was true), this episode was meh.
There´s some shots that seem just "scorsesesque" ( wut). Still liking it.

Ugh, I didn´t like this episode. It felt fake. But yes I did like Lester as manager and the last scene with Richie´s father, very small but very real. Even though I love Sinner man and Cry baby, they sounded too easy.
And who the fuck is Goulet or whatever his name that sounds like flan?
Edit: I do love Anthony Burdain though

I loved the parallel father/son, mother/daughter in this ep. Both parents are disappointed and both kids looked for their parents approval at some point. Richie's pimping his wife His relationship with Dev is fucked up. I like Andrea. I mean the woman calling him on his shit is pretty great. Also the moment I saw that guy working in Richie's office, I knew he was planting mics.
I feel generally good about the whole thing. I have no idea what's going to happen and this makes it great for me!
